BRENDAN RODGERS insists Celtic let Hibs off the hook in this afternoon’s 2-2 draw at Easter Road.
The Hoops allowed a two-goal lead to slip in the final 15 minutes and their 68-game unbeaten sequence was only preserved by a stoppage-time goal-line clearance by Mikael Lustig.
Rodgers said: “It was nothing really that Hibs did in the game. It was more that we stopped playing, passing and went a bit longer on it.
“But we have to ensure we learn from it and ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
Two quick-fire second-half goals from Scotty Sinclair had put the Hoops into a commanding lead and it looked as all they would have to do was see out the game.
But ex-Celt Efe Ambrose pulled one back and sub Oli Shaw thumped in the leveller before the youngster had a shot in the fading moments booted clear by Lustig.
Rodgers added: “It was a game of the last 15 minutes. I thought we were outstanding for the first 75 minutes, controlled the game, 2-0 up and should’ve been four or five, at least, with the chances we had.
“We passed it well, our positioning was good, our ball possession was good, we tired them out and created chances.
“Two-nil is a dangerous scoreline and, at 2-1 with 15 minutes to go, they’ve got a bit of momentum.
“We’ll certainly reflect on it as two points dropped, but the crime is not that, it’s if you don’t learn from it.
“We were in control and then we present them with two goals.
“We don’t defend a corner well enough, then we let them in too easily down the right-hand side and the kid swivels and scores in the box when he shouldn’t get the chance to turn.
“We could have lost it at the end with the clearance off the line by Mikael.”
