We should leave Dingwall wiser

285

An away game after a European away game is statistically the most likely time for a team to drop points, so I doubt Brendan Rodgers will tinker with his lineup too much at Ross County on Sunday.  As well as three points there may be valuable information up for grabs again for Celtic.

Watch how County shut down space and try to frustrate Celtic.  They will not pretend they are Brazil 1970; attacks by the home side will be infrequent and will never resemble the Light Brigade.  There will be timewasting, play will be interrupted with fouls when a County player stops in his tracks in front of a running Celtic player.

No one in world football knows these tactics better than Celtic fans.  We get to watch them pretty much every week.  Even the elites do it.  Borussia Dortmund qualified for the Champions League final after a win over PSG achieved with 30% possession and only 20% of the game’s attempts at goal.

If every day is a school day, let’s leave Dingwall on Sunday wiser and with three points.

To be fair I think the govan lot have far far fewer Saturday 3pm kick offs than us this season.

2 in the period August to December I believe.

  2. We were one of only 3 out of 18 away teams to play 4-3-3 in the CL during the week.

5 out of 18 played it in the Europa League

8 out of 36 in the two top tier competitions in Europe, might suggest that we’re employing unfashionable tactics away from home against better opposition.

So why do we bring out 4 + strips almost every season?

This is the most comprehensive article I have found on eh internet about the Diarra case

    https://www.walkermorris.co.uk/comment-opinion/diarra-v-fifa-a-changing-transfer-market/

Its pretty inconclusive, as you might expect from a lawyer:

    ——————————

Cheers for posting this article – good detail as far as it goes, and as you say, couched inconclusively in lawyer-speak ; which is to be expected.

No doubt we are still a bit away from the definitive outcome. I’m sure many will follow with interest. HH

  6. Only read back and page one was enough…..Brendan was mentioned as a few pointed out so okay emotions are running high after a heavy defeat.

I get that but sometimes we need to realise we’re we are in the football chain and what is the club’s real philosophy or the true ambition to quote the chairman PL

“This will bring an exciting new format to European football and the opportunity to participate in more matches and give access to more teams across Europe”

    Note the key word

    “PARTICIPATE ”

So we had a few days of

keyboard managers out in force as per after a bloody nose versus an Elite side a side run as a club should be the clubs takes the footballing side as the key and most important part the key priorities being a proper well equipped youth system scouting system and build a side for both Europe and domestic.

I know we are brought up believing we should play THE CELTIC WAY but somehow we need to find a way of becoming harder to beat away from home and this responsibility needs to be realised by all I believe.

  7. Why has BR not rebutted NL’s accurate assessment on Tuesday night during 7-1 thrashing commentary about BR keeping playing the same way vs higher quality teams and getting cuffed and then continuing to play that way and expecting a different outcome?

Accurate accounts of last midweek games, Neil Lennon, Ally McCoist, Paul 67, Ernie Lynch, Chris Sutton.

Brendan Rodgers account = Spaceman waffle.

Or is he playing the stupid always last to know idiot routine and fking that up as well?

Timdom would still be in the car park like poor wee put upon whining victims and pleading to be listened to by the big bad PLC, and demanding NL’s sacking had he been in charge in Dortmund.

The last semblance of integrity at Parkhead was when NL walked out the front door after DD and PL sold Wanyama and replaced him with Biton.

And then it dawned on NL – Why should NL show ballsy integrity and march out the front door with nothing to hide after DD and PL shafed the quality of the product which NL was building for the fans?

And yet – These same fans continued to enrich the crooked lying DD and PL after NL tipping them the nod which MON also tipped them when he warned them that they were about to be shafted by the DD and PL “Slow Lane” project era?

MON and NL told fans they were being shafted – And the fans didn’t GAF as long as they got thur “Day oot” like the good sweetie wives that they are.

MON and NL tipped you all off – But BR is going along with the lying liers and ‘appears to suck it up and move along?

    Appears to. Hmmmm.

What if, BR has told the PLC –

[ “Sack me and I`ll tell the fans that DD and PL used me in 2016 to decoy the fans attention away from DD and PL`S scam of putting Hun1 prices onto Hun2 tickets to help cover up Hun1`s many crimes and eventual death and allow Hun2 to pretend to be Hun1 in what was a criminal cover up and I, BR, was used as a Patsy to facilitate this great cover up.” ] ????

In shady deep and thoroughly pretentious Celtic FC, who is dumb enough to trust even a single word that anybody affiliated with Celtic FC even says anymore?

  8. The date of 14 August 2020 went down in history as Bayern Munich crushed Barcelona 8-2 in one of the most remarkable UEFA Champions League fixtures of all time.

Not so long ago and perhaps a reminder that sh** happens – even to the best. HH

Fair point. I didn’t realise that but I suppose the fact that they are in the Europa league is a contributing factor for them.

However we seem to have midweek home matches scheduled with away matches at weekends. Big inconvenience for our supporters and no doubt many empty seats due to travel issues.

I assume the international breaks for meaningless fixtures and league cup ties at weekends also create problems.

  10. I actually enjoy Ordinary Joe because he is obviously on the wind up and his sarcasm is lost on most of us, whereas Paul67 is the lead post and carries a huge significance. He is the real prick on here.

  11. Maybe St Pauli not exactly competing yet. Not a good start and then never really recovered today. Hopefully they can get back on it next week.

Wish you were the invisible man.Eejit….

    VG 🤣

I’ve enjoyed the differing opinions on here since we got pumped by Dortmund.

Let’s see how “our” bhoys do tomorrow .

I’ve no doubt the travelling fans will back them to the hilt , really looking forward to see the players reaction , let’s hope for a few goals and a clean sheet .🤞

  13. Post match tension is ridiculous. Its a football match,FFS,win some lose some, though in our case its lose little.I was over it Wednesday night.Woke up feeling shit, then it went.Onto the next game.Internet and Blogs, don’t help.So many want to mourn any defeat.Nitpick, question the manager, tactics, players.More shamefully start to abuse the very person that gives them the platform to air their recriminations and delusions that somehow they are more knowledgeable than an Elite manager,on tactics, formations.Managers, players,in fact everyone connected in whatever way in this sport, makes errors.

That’s all it boils down to.For people to carry it on for four days, well,I am sure there’s more to really concern you in that time, than a past result.Weary Willie syndrome.Gie yersel a shake.

  14. Marsapa,

You know the fans will give them the usual fantastic support tomorrow.Like I said, move on,lots to play for.

    Hail Hail.

  15. Last word on this week!

Opinions should not be affected by the weather of the day, but by the climate of the era.

We are in the most continually successful era in Celtic’s history, on and off the field- enjoy it warts and all.

Surely we are strong enough to handle occasional shortcomings and imperfections. Hail Hail
