We stand alone

1204

If you live long enough you get to hear or read just about everything. Today some in the old media are telling us Celtic and Rangers (sic) are both chasing a soon-to-be out of contract Manchester United player. The way it used to work is an agent would fly into Glasgow to see Celtic or Rangers, and make sure the other club had an option on the player their rivals were pursuing.

Anyone who thinks Newco can rival Celtic for a footballer had better consult their medication. The rules have all changed, in Glasgow, we stand alone.

Final shout for the ITUC’s 22nd minute Fifa protest tomorrow.

Today’s CQteN raffle winner, of a signed Celtic strip, is John McDonald, from table 36. If it’s the John McDonald I’ve just emailed, congratulations… If not, we’ll find you.

Today is World Down Syndrome Day. For too long those with Down’ have been stigmatised, shown a lack of human respect, or worse. The ‘does he take sugar’ days were not so long ago. World Down Syndrome Day is a about raising awareness and changing our perceptions.

Have to say I’m enjoying the Aberdeen fans’ ‘Peter Pawlett Baby’ campaign. Human League’s ‘Don’t you want me baby’ has flown up the charts on the back of delirious Aberdeen fans, celebrating their position as one of Scotland’s top two. Crazy stuff like this is how football clubs grow.

For all those who have supported Marys’ Meals over recent weeks and months, here’s a cheery video from them, with a little help from Pharrell Williams.

Seville – The Celtic Movement is another cheery wee thing.

“Somewhere around 5am and Glasgow airport is only open for Seville flights and is a sea of green and white. I’ve 80 Euros, my passport, boarding pass and a ticket in my shorts, Celtic top on, no baggage of any description. The happiest queue of all time has formed.”

‘Ernie I agree that the majority of Scots don’t know about our history in oppressing Ireland on our own or as part of the British empire.’

I’m more concerned about the anti Irish Catholic racism that to a greater or lesser extent permeates aspects of Scottish life.

The causes of that are entirely Scottish.

I’m quite happy for the MSM to continue peddling the myth that the sevcotrons are somehow players in the transfer market and their dumb ass redneck fans to continue swallowing it.

So much the better when it all goes tits up again and their shock and disappointment is palpable.

    Just one other thing.

Don’t single out the Irish for their treatment of Jewish refugees, it makes it look like you have an issue with the Irish.

–ok Ernie, I won’t single out the treatment of jewish refugees by Ireland if you stop the whole Scotland – Rotten to the Core nonsense. It makes you look like you have an issue with the Scots.

The truth is that at the Evian conference of 1938 the the UK and the USA (and France) decided as a matter of policy not to accept Jewish refugees.

    —-

I am living proof the UK did accept Jewish refugees during WW2

My son and two of his mates went to Seville when they arrived they booked a hire car when they went to collect the car one of them put his wallet on the roof of the car ( not clever I know ).They got themselves sorted out and got in the car and drove away many miles later the guy who put his wallet on the roof remembered he had done so they immediately stopped the car and of course the wallet was long gone as were the tickets for the game which were in the wallet. They retraced there steps but there was no sign of the wallet so they were now short of cash and no tickets they did manage to get 3 tickets and did see the game but its an experience they will never forget. H.H.

that is some story mate. Conor is a born fighter!

There is nothing worse than when your kids, especially when young, have to undergo surgery of any sort. Its the feeling of helplessness that is the worst. You would do anything to swap places with them. As for the surgeons, doctors and nurses who all help, i take my hat off to every one of them. What a job they do.

Glad to hear that Conor is doing well.

Anyway, big hugs to the kids.

    Thanks, Guys.

I will concentrate my attention on THEM & ignore the few sad individuals who are failing to take us down to THEM’S level.

  22. Hopefully the abundance of charity that was evident at CQTEN can replace the vitriol, spite and attention seeking that has denigrated CQN for far too long

I recognize and applaud the fantastic endeavor of so many charitable fund raising

Let us also remember that CQN’RS are not the only members of the Celtic Support who do tireless, unselfish work for charity

Thousands of other humble volunteers work behind-the-scenes

They are no less Celtic of a Celtic Supporter

Give and donate, but only what you can afford

In this age of austerity and hardship prayers, effort commitment and empathy are all worthy. Charity is more than donation of money
