We want a win, but let’s not kid ourselves

964

We are almost week on from Morton (our only mustn’t lose game in March) but there will be a business-like atmosphere around Lennoxtown today as the team prepare to go to Ibrox, scene of three consecutive wins since Newco were promoted to top flight football.  Brendan and his players are all too aware of the big talk coming from Murray Park.  If ever they needed motivation, they didn’t need to look far.

Fans of either colour, who have been around long enough, will recognise the occasion, but this is not the way you and I used to feel about going to Ibrox.  Back in the old days I preferred to go there as slight underdogs, which was often as good as it got for Celtic fans.  Now, we travel to every ground in the country as strong favourites, no matter what our form.  This is nothing like it was in the pre-liquidation years.

I want to win, of course, but I would have been devastated if we’d lost to Morton.  Sunday’s game cannot reach me the same way.  This is a step on the road to what will hopefully be a treble, don’t pretend it is about winning the league, it’s just not.

If you were ordered to buy shares in a company (or even a clumpany) and you didn’t want to or couldn’t afford to, wouldn’t it be convenient if the holders of the shares were somehow put off selling? Say, by hearing that a third party (who they wouldn’t want to sell to) might be interested in buying them…..

I went to St Ninians Primary, but most of the crap happened when I tried to use the Essenside sports centre off Drumchapel Road.

I was told by almost everybody in the place that Taigs “should go to their own place”. Usually underlined when I was on the way home by being pinned down and smeared with dogshit.

After a month of fights, and dogshit, I told the people running the sports centre, and realised they didn’t like Taigs either.

  7. Celtic riches lie in their Fans. We were formed by a Marist Brother to support the” Poor Children’s Dinner Table”. We may have lost our way a little but excellent initiatives involving The Celtic Foundation are now doing excellent work in this country and overseas. The Green Brigade have done their own thing and helped the local Food banks echoing Walfrids message. They have also raised money for Palestine which is at the same time snubbed UEFA who had the audacity to fine the club for Support for Palestine as well as supporting a supressed nation. It strongly echo’s the struggles in Ireland which we have remembered from our Irish forefathers.

The Fans have remained on message and in the face of a hostile media and a hostile governing body who kept putting us down. We never believed the stuff that was written and prepared to accept the Verdict of our own eyes when we were the victims of referee’s.

The resilience of our Fans in putting our club where it is was remarkable. We are now the biggest Club in Scotland, biggest Turnover, biggest and best Stadium and currently with the best Team on the brink of 7 in a row and a double treble. Our Rivals who were beefed up by the Establishment to stop Celtic have been exposed as having cheated “to compete” with Celtic. Well even with cheating they still Failed and are in Liquidation. We had won that War.

However, with unbelievable favouritism a Newco has been constructed and managed through the lower leagues to second place in our League. Every rule in the book has been used to protect Sevco and their earlier vehicle, Rangers. We know they cheated and no SFA or SPFDL whitewash will cover this up. We will keep up the struggle to expose the governing bodies and Media as Liars.

This Week “Operation Rangers Return” has been shouting out that they are back where they belong. Well we will see. On Sunday and at the end of the season the challenge will be met and the prizes handed out.

I have a feeling that the exuberant Bears will have a sick feeling that despite all the Cheating, despite all help from Governing bodies, despite the PR firms and the Medias cheerleading, that they are still behind the Celtic. Celtic Fans will not allow this to be forgooten

We don’t even need to win but I am sure we will win on Sunday and a second Treble will arrive in May

    2. I saw some yesterday criticise the board for apparently concentrating on the creation of an Hotel and a museum etc. Well, I for one have been critical of the Celtic board for not doing all that they can to develop not only the area around Celtic Park but also the secondary revenue streams that are open to them. In my opinion, Celtic have been slow in this although I accept that they have faced substantial opposition because the business community in Scotland, and many semi government organisations are slow to see (or are perhaps too afraid to see) the monetary value that lies in Celtic as a business.

For example, both Manchester United and Barcelona (amongst others) operate their grounds as a destinational tourist venue with visitors to Barcelona and Manchester being encouraged to visit the Barca or Man U experience as a tourist whether they are football fans or not. Visitors are walked through the museum areas and arrive at the end in the superstore where as often as not they buy souvenirs etc. This is a large source of revenue for both. In percentage terms, exploited correctly, the difference that could be made by a proper Celtic development around Celtic park could be huge for us and could potentially add at least £10M per annum on to our revenue and so increase the spending power of the club and its ability to attract bigger and better commercial partners. (Turkish Airlines pay Man Utd £7m/year just to get their name on a billboard and a mug!!) — To compere against the big ghuys in Europe as a club we MUST develop these income streams and no one should doubt the pull of Celtic as a European wide club – more of which later.

BTW think on this: Have you ever seen a Scottish Tourist Board sign, or a Glasgow City Council sign, or any other kind of road sign in or around Glasgow which points you in the direction of “Celtic park”? You will find such signs directing you to football grounds in other major cities so why not Celtic Park? If you know the reason for this oversight let the board know — they have only been asking for such signage for around 5 years or so (I think) but no one seems to listen or think That Celtic Park is a destinational venue for tourists or visitors despite all the evidence to the contrary. That is the kind of thing you are up against.

Couldn’t agree more. A huge potential growth area for Celtic, Glasgow and Scotland.

Obviously, I would prioritise a fans’ café beside the superstore.

with respect you don’t really provide any answers to my points.

1,,,i think you are saying you would be sad for the people of Glasgow?

or are you trying to say we were founded here so here we shall stay?

    I’m not sure.

But ,,,and here is where we really disagree,,,you would put up with this for another hundred and thirty years rather than leave Glasgow!

    Astounded of forehead I am.

If we were to leave Glasgow it would only be for something better ( lets face it it would be hard to find a worse league) and after all that’s for the best no?

It would be bittersweet. And if Glasgow is soo important then leave colts or something there so you guys can still have your fix.

Glasgow Celtic is a branch,,,yes only a branch,,of the Celtic family.

Its not the trunk as you seem to be ( again I think) suggesting,, the fans are the trunk.

Branches come and go,,look no further than the old Belfast branch.

BRTH if this is a whitewash we slowly die.

There will be no one in that stadium in 130 years because as you point out our support are becoming more and more educated and global.

With that comes awareness of choice and more options for pastimes.

There are soo many options to fill your weekend afternoons now and that will only increase with technology and lets not forget we as a fan base are more affluent than weve ever been which expands your options.

I believe our new crop of fans will be way more smarter and savvy than you think and will not go along with a farce in the numbers of the past.

Maybe I’m wrong . But in the last 10 years on this blog the numbers saying they will not either attend away games or cups or home games has increased,,what makes you think that trend will reverse? (assuming whitewash it wont reverse it will drastically increase)

And without a great manager ( as I read on here he is) and the champs league ie should they be helped to where they belong and access the riches the top table brings for a few years and the club downsizes then the percentage of malcontents who will sit out will rapidly increase.

Wasn’t that long go there was 30k in the park. One good manager and a bit of spend fixed that. What happens when/if you cant get a good manager or spend a lot?

I feel some on here are way, way to comfortable right now due to , well , Brendan basically and a good set of accounts.

So I ask what you would have said to Bob Kelly if he told you were outta Glasgow bhoys?

And that stance that youre not screwing us or were out? Are you against that? I would have supported being a man of principles.

Would you? And if the answer is yes then how could you be against something similar now?

2,,,i think you misunderstand. I would like ( if there will be one that is) the new vehicle or franchise or whatever to be non profit as I think every single one of us would.

You big up the foundation,,fair play to those fine fellows . Buts that’s the foundation.

But sorry I don’t see an answer to my question,,,how are we more than a club now?

    In what way?

We fans have done some great stuff ( wee Oscar was our finest hour imo, rest in peace wee man ) but that’s not the club its us.

    What qualifies that statement?

Without bringing up the work of the fans can you tell me how this club differs from some others apart from the obvious history etc?

I for one fail to see it.

3,,,theres a lot of words there but if I may summarise your last paragraph ” I think its gonna get better”

Possibly. But I really don’t think so. As we tear away on and off the park operation stop timmy will ramp up.

The presence of BR is helping things stay kinda contained,,in that I mean I don’t think they would pull out the level of honest mistakes seen in the past due to the fact his stature within the game as a whole means his words are given more gravitas.

Its quite possible hes the glue holding this whole thing together, and when he goes, and the pushing has started, its more than likely a multi faceted assault on our fans and club to divide and conquer.

I don’t think it could get much worse so maybe it has to get better but please forgive me if I don’t share your optimism.

After all if history is determined to repeat itself we (actually make that you lot because I’m out) are in for another 130 years of underhanded cronyism

Its good to debate with you. Ive a lot of respect for you and your fab 4 plus Steinreignedsupreme,,the original instigator unless I’m mistaken.

    Hail Hail.

    Some great posts tonight

Tims laying their true feelings on the line

The underlying story of this is that ,all we want as celtic supporters is an honest league ,preferably here in Scotland and a level playing field for every club in the game .

The thing is ,I always believed that it was just the MIB that were against us but recent and not so recent history has shown us ALL ,that was not the case

The corruption runs ran right through our game .

Everyone is asking what is happening re res 12 , well maybe there is a bit of horse trading going on behind the scenes .let’s not forget the peepil we are up against have had 100 yrs to dig in .

Celtic will IMO take flak for their apparent lack of involvement and stance on the subject but Rome was not built in a day .

These sewer rats will claw and scurry from any limelight to protect their positions and all the while be protected by their puppets in the SMSM .

Remember Farry and his accomplice Bryson ,well Farry was exposed and Bryson has went out on a Massive limb with his LNS performance.

Get these corrupt rats on the res12 charge and then go after every single one of them on the rest

Their world view is beginning to break apart and it’s out of their hands
