‘WE WANT ACTION REPLAY,’ ARMSTRONG

MIDFIELDER Stuart Armstrong reckons Celtic must go to Iceland with the aim of beating Stjarnan for a second time.

Goals from Dedryck Boyata and Stefan Johansen have given the Hoops a solid advantage as they gear up for the second leg of their crucial Champions League qualifier.

But Armstrong warns the tie is poised at the halfway mark as Ronny Deila’s side attempt to make certain they face a trip to either Azerbaijan or Montenegro in the next stage.

The former Dundee United star said: “It is a nice 2-0 scoreline, but it will still be tricky over there and we know that we really need to do the same again.

“We had a lot of possession and they were hard to break down. It was good to get the win and that was important.

“It was also an important goal for Dedryck, I think he has been terrific for us.

“There wasn’t a panic to get a goal, but it was good that we added a second.”

Meanwhile, Leigh Griffiths, who netted a hat-trick in the 4-1 weekend win over Eibar, doesn’t believe he is a certain starter for Wednesday.

He said: “You never know about midweek. I’ll work hard in training and, hopefully, take my chance.

“Nadir Ciftci has different attributes. He’s a big, strong guy who can hold the ball up well. I like to run in behind defenders and stretch them.

“I’m hoping we can play together as he’s someone who I can really play off.”

And Hoops skipper Scott Brown, one of the most experienced European performers in the Parkhead dressing room, has also warned that it could be a difficult 90 minutes in Iceland.

He added: “It is going to be hard to go away from home, but we have that 2-0 lead and we are looking forward to it.

“Everyone is going to push as far as they possibly can. But we know that if we perform week in, week out as we can then we should be winning this league.

“That is what we are trying to look forward to. “
