It’s two and a half years since Oscar’s dad, Stephen ‘Knoxy’ shared the news he’d just received that his three-year-old son had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an apparently rare form of childhood cancer. All the pains and fears of that day, and the years since, came to the fore over the last eight weeks as the disease took hold. Oscar’s battle ended yesterday.
On this day we should acknowledge the enormous work by so many people to get Oscar the treatment he needed, many of whom would never meet him. The treatment cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, a daunting figure, but one which was soon met. Without this fundraising, Oscar would have died in 2012. Instead, he lived, played and inspired many with his enthusiasm until recent weeks. His fantastic “Happy Birthday CQN” video message was recorded just two months ago; a gift to this community.
For now, there are no meaningful words for Stephen, Oscar’s mum Leona, sister Izzie and their family and friends, but we will be there for them in the months and years to come.
This disease, in all its forms, is a curse on humanity. We need more fundraising, more research, more education on its dangers.
Before Sunday’s game against Dundee United you will be able to buy a Celtic FC Foundation badge, to aid work with homelessness in the Glasgow area. Badges cost a minimum donation of £1, a price we can all afford to help our neighbours in most need.

Reading back through yesterdays/last nights posts, heartbreaking stuff…
RIP wee Oscar xxx
Nothing I can add to the sentiments expressed here, similar to a prevous post, I too came across my duplicate Oscar wristband as I hunted down an adaptor for my trip away this week. Karma? It broughtthe wee man to the front of my brain again. God rest.
If Deniabhoy is lurking thanks for the heads up….we had a great meal in Bar Republic all helped by glorious weathet and good looking staff. HH

Some very moving posts in relation to Oscar,
My own abiding memory is Green Bucket Day…what a day and im indebted to CRC for allowing me to be part of it.
TBJ:
The wee man has left us something special, the videos, the pictures, the words are all part of his legacy, we will all shed many more tears over the coming days and months, there remains a sadness and that sadness wont disappear anytime soon if at all, but we should and indeed must celebrate this wee boys all too short period of time walking this earth, he brought many people together, he raised world wide awareness through his own illness of a lack of funding for a horrible disease, he was very special, many of us never had the pleasure of meeting Oscar, we were if you like friends from afar, but friends we were and friends we will remain, I think back to Green Bucket day and a big fella approaching me at Celtic Park and handing over his “pie” money as promised…Oscar brought people together.

As you say … You got my pie money and I finally met you ( no day is perfect eh lmfao )
Minx got my wee mums Money … When she passed away I found loads of coins as I cleared her place out . I didn’t know what to do with the money so stuck it away to hope for a wee sign
The day I heard of the green bucket collection I knew immediately my mum was saying ” get my money in that bucket to help that wee boy ”
I know my mum will be giving the wee warrior a hug in heaven
Anyone played Biggar Golf Course?
No parent should outlive their children, even in his short time with us he made an impact, I hope his family can take comfort from that.
I’ve been away for a week. I presume if you have not heard about the golf day out you are drapped?
Our warrior has left this branch of the Celtic family
He is now in the arms of those who have gone before.

Jobo
Flat ,short course. I enjoyed playing it.
Also buggies for hire.
Bawsman – I don’t think anything’s been confirmed yet about Aberdour so keep praying! I currently have a tentative booking at the Aberdour Hotel but just waiting on the “successful-dot-com” email before confirming.
I think it was embramike yesterday who suggested cqn buy season tickets for life to be used by hospitals in memory of oscar and it got me thinking.
Could we try and organise something to get every senior club in uk and ireland to have oscar season tickets to be used by local hospitals and hospices.
If the clubs organised their tickets they could decide how many seasons books, how long they distributed the books, what match day experience they gave etc.
It would be good to know everytime a match is taking place families are being given respite and memories at such a difficult time.
RIP Oscar

A wee reminder that if there’s anyone who’d like Mass cards etc handed to Stephen and Leona I’d be happy to take them over.
I’ll be attending the gathering today and will be at the Pools Office prior to kick off tomorrow if that makes it easier.
HT
He’s coming when were all pashed …. Maybe he can take care of me for a wee change ;)
BT
Can your old fella not make it along for a few brandy shandies
BT – thanks for that.

Working at a communion in ksc till 7.
Paolosboots had told me there could be some sober folks by then. Can’t see it myself though.
Just spent an hour reading tributes to Oscar. Breaking my heart.
Took a wee walk in church yesterday morning. No reason, just sat in the pew in silence. It can be good to sit and contemplate on your own life and others less fortunate.
Came out and ten minutes later Karen called to tell me about our wee hero.
I cried all the way into work yesterday reading about Oscar and his brave fight.
He will live forever in our hearts…
TBJ
That got me choked up again!
I remember when I was organising the Quiz Night for Oscar, and getting slightly stressed about it all, I got a call from my ma.
She’s not the soppy type but said to me, “Your dad would be so proud of you!”
At that point I knew it would go alright and I know now that there will be another cuddle awaiting the wee man.
Reading a few posts in social media .. yNWA on 5th minute tomorrow for wee oscar … Maybe bring a green balloon with his name on it
HT / BT
I honestly did not think I had any tears left … But over the last 24hrs I’ve been sobbing in work … In the car … Sitting in my house
So forgive me today if I’m blubbering at the hootenanny but I learned a lesson years ago that real men cry and naw it was not gazza that taught me that

It would be great if a tribute to Wee Oscar could also be displayed on the Big Screen in the 5th minute.
Keep the Faith!
Hail Hail!
Been looking at some pictures of Oscar this morning. There’s tubes everywhere, machines all around and a very frail young lad, but, his smile is always evident .He is constantly giving a “thumbs up” to the camera showing his bravery and defiance.Teaches some of us older ones, who are weighed down with unimportant things, which we feel are vitally important,a thing or two.

Real men do indeed cry, nothing to be ashamed of. A sign of a true man.

I won’t be getting until after half 2 so may, I repeat, may be ok by the time you arrive :-)
Lovely, sincere words mate.
I’m not a great one for praying at length. I find it difficult to remain focused.
However, I remember a story I heard years ago of a young monk who, no matter how hard he tried, couldn’t pray for any sustained period of time.
He went to the Abbot of the monastery and with a heavy heart told him that he didn’t think that monastic life was for him.
After a long conversation the Abbot established that the young monk had a real talent for juggling.
And so from that point on, during the daily prayer routines, whilst the rest of the monks were praying in silence he would stand and juggle. In that way he was able to concentrate for longer and also display his God given talents.
I cannae juggle but over the years have found my own personal way of building a relationship with the Big Man :-)
