Wee raffle: two tickets for Tynecastle on Sunday

294

“We’re only here for the party”. Hearts fans taunted us with that on 24 May 2009, the final day of the Premier League season, the day Celtic failed to achieve four titles in a row. Most of those who travelled west that day will be in the stands at Tynecastle on Sunday. They will see a different kind of party.

Chances are, you, like me, don’t have a ticket for the game. There are no tickets to be had for Celtic fans, and unlike 1988, when a few of us paid our way into the Hearts end under similar circumstances, even that will not be possible this time around.

I might not have a ticket myself, but I do have TWO TICKETS for the Celtic end of Tynecastle on Sunday to raffle for Mary’s Meals, courtesy of Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing.

You can enter here, for a minimum donation of £5. Please email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the word “Party” in the subject line to confirm your donation and entry. And include as many contact details as you think prudent to ensure you hear about your win (it wouldn’t be the first time someone didn’t catch their winning notification until after a game).

We win lots of leagues, but we don’t win them at Tynecastle too often. How sweet it would be to be there to celebrate and congratulate the team.

The good news is the competition is only open for two days, so there isn’t a lot of time to enter. If you donate after 22:00 on Wednesday – thank you – but your entry will not be considered.

13th Annual CQN Golf Open

This year’s CQN Golf Open will take place on Friday 28 July, again at our regular Aberdour haunt. It is always a magnificent Celtic occasion – and always oversubscribed. If you would like to attend, email Taggsybhoy, cqnopen@gmail.com

Beneficiaries of the night will be Walk with Shay and the Celtic FC Foundation, cost for the day’s golf, and evening meal and festivities, is £80, or £45 if you are an evening-only guest.

See you there……

Thanks enormously to Intelligent Car Leasing for their incredible support.  What a magnificent organisation to be supporting the club, and our charitable efforts.  Two tickets, competition only running two days, money going to Mary’s Meals, fill your boots!

The depression problem suffered by footballers is as widespread in the game as in life.

Exacerbated perhaps by the guilt it induces,in their case why am I earning this,I’m not worth it,etc.

I stumbled across an old article recently. From a very respected broadsheet writer.

    Thankfully,times have changed.

  3. SoT- I think Buffon and del Piero stayed with Juve, after they got demoted a couple of divisions?

    Bada,

Don’t understand why Brendan agreed to work under that committee so to speak.

One thing that concerns me though.

Brendan got rid of Daniel Agger and Pepe Reina.

    Thought they were terrific.

That worries me about Bendan a bit.

    However, that’s Liverpool’s problem

Full steam ahead for the Celts now.

Get that international nonsense out of the way.

There’s a double to be won.

C’mon Celtic let’s get this job done.

    !! BADA BING !!.@ 12 29.

Yes – Buffon( who could have gone to Barcelona ) and Del Piero stayed — the likes of Thuram , Viera , Ibrahimovic and Cannavaro left . .

Del Piero maintained the line that he was the son of a cleaner and an electrician and had been brought up to ” never leave your lady ” .

Rube were stripped of 2 Serie A titles and relegated to Serie B. Del Piero performed wonders in the Serie B season . . – ” I got kicked more but the defenders were much slower “

Any recommendations on where to watch this Sunday’s title party for a group of us in Manchester? CelticBars seems to suggest O’Sheas but any tips would be great.

  9. Alright folks.

I wanted to post a thank you to Chris (HamiltonTim) for relaying the Booby Sands Diary to you all on the blog. while I lurk and read, I didn’t feel comfortable posting the diary this time, not having contributed over the year.

Also, I was sorry to hear of the death of EDB.

Well now my password has been sorted (Thanks Paul), I might offer some perceptive and erudite précis on occasion but more likely it’ll be more of the same old guff you’re well used to reading from me.

Was having a look through some of your beautiful photos a few days ago but ran out of time and only managed to get through 2 groups but i loved the ones i saw.

I prefer black and white pictures to colour for some reason.

Theres something very stark about them…..like everything is stripped back.

I think portraits of old people done like that are fascinating as every line on their face is like the rings through a tree and every one of those crevices holds a tale from their lives(Cosy Corner Bhoy is an exception to this rule btw)

Will definitely make time to look at the rest but so far i think my favourite is one of an old woman smiling atback(might be in the Japan section)

Its only a tiny little smile but its so warm…..they are all amazing but i found that 1 particularly lovely.

    TURKEYBHOY,

I dont really know what she should do.Tell the truth maybe.

Your points dont seem to refer to Mrs Sturgeon, who gets lambasted for trying to get Indy Ref 2 off the ground.the same Mrs Sturgeon who promised in her Manifesto to do exactly that if we were taken out of the EU against the wishes of the nation.Wether its popular,or unpopular,it seems Mrs Sturgeon is quite prepared to face the wrath of many, unlike the lying two faced daughter of Thatcher who now inhabits No 10.

Thank you mate for taking the time to go through them and to give me your feedback.

Like you I love b&w it reminds of those boxes of photos I’m guess most house had of the relatives and relations, those wee square b&w shots I loved looking through them all as a kid.

I stuck in some colour in the studio section on the advice of my boss so that folk know I shoot in colour too. I’m trying to drum up some new bits of work there!

That woman in the Japan photo was a pure sweetheart, I was kinda lost on a wee train and not sure where to get off and I showed her the address and she made sure I got there. Her life really showed on her face but her smile was as broad as the sun! One of those days where everything seems worthwhile!

    TCR,

I texted my nephew who lives in LK and he said that The Central Bar, which is in the middle of the Main Street.

He also mentioned the Warehouse, which has better TV’s and is in the Square, again about half way down the Main Street.

I would try the Warehouse first, as you can get a tasty bit of food as well, if required.

    Good luck.

  25. Thanks guys.

By the way TR, there is no point in asking Thomthethim about pubs in Letterkenny. He gets a nose bleed if has to go into Gaoth Dobhair.
