Wee raffle: two tickets for Tynecastle on Sunday

294

“We’re only here for the party”. Hearts fans taunted us with that on 24 May 2009, the final day of the Premier League season, the day Celtic failed to achieve four titles in a row. Most of those who travelled west that day will be in the stands at Tynecastle on Sunday. They will see a different kind of party.

Chances are, you, like me, don’t have a ticket for the game. There are no tickets to be had for Celtic fans, and unlike 1988, when a few of us paid our way into the Hearts end under similar circumstances, even that will not be possible this time around.

I might not have a ticket myself, but I do have TWO TICKETS for the Celtic end of Tynecastle on Sunday to raffle for Mary’s Meals, courtesy of Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing.

You can enter here, for a minimum donation of £5. Please email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the word “Party” in the subject line to confirm your donation and entry. And include as many contact details as you think prudent to ensure you hear about your win (it wouldn’t be the first time someone didn’t catch their winning notification until after a game).

We win lots of leagues, but we don’t win them at Tynecastle too often. How sweet it would be to be there to celebrate and congratulate the team.

The good news is the competition is only open for two days, so there isn’t a lot of time to enter. If you donate after 22:00 on Wednesday – thank you – but your entry will not be considered.

13th Annual CQN Golf Open

This year’s CQN Golf Open will take place on Friday 28 July, again at our regular Aberdour haunt. It is always a magnificent Celtic occasion – and always oversubscribed. If you would like to attend, email Taggsybhoy, cqnopen@gmail.com

Beneficiaries of the night will be Walk with Shay and the Celtic FC Foundation, cost for the day’s golf, and evening meal and festivities, is £80, or £45 if you are an evening-only guest.

See you there……

Thanks enormously to Intelligent Car Leasing for their incredible support.  What a magnificent organisation to be supporting the club, and our charitable efforts.  Two tickets, competition only running two days, money going to Mary’s Meals, fill your boots!

Bang on. I must have said this about five times on here, and yet I keep seeing people posting on here, what a great job Brendan has done with SA.

He just played him in his correct position. He was a good player with Dundee United.

    ——————

SA played right side of midfield for Utd, they played similar to how Celtic did when we had Brown out on the right. Compact.

  2. SA was a player at Dundee Utd. Anyone who did not see that doesn’t know a player.

I was so disappointed for him last season when he played. He was always just that inch out with a pass/shot or a second late arriving for a tackle.

To have him and Tierney in side at same time is just something to enjoy (not to mention the warhorse)

  3. King pops into town then 3 directors resign within days. Interesting. They have 3 remaining directors, Blair, Dickinson and Robertson.

FOLLOWING a recent review, there have been some minor changes to Rangers’ internal governance structures.

At the time that the previous board was removed, there was a dual reporting structure that duplicated non-executive director roles at the holding company (RIFC) and at the operating company (TRFC). This structure was not in accordance with best practice and appears to have been put in place by the previous board to accommodate the inability of Sandy Easdale to sit on the holding company board.

The TRFC operating board has now been fully functioning for some time and with the imminent appointment of a Director of Football the RIFC board believes that it is appropriate that the TRFC board continues to function independently of the RIFC board within the mandates and budgets set by RIFC.

Consequently, the non-executive directors appointed by RIFC to the TRFC board will now exercise their roles solely as non-executive directors of the holding company, RIFC. The executive management of the Club will then form the board of TRFC.

It seems he was wanting them to front up for his bid for the rest of the shares now that he has been called out by the Takeover Panel, they are rightly not having it, time for him to front up or ship out. The rats have deserted before the sinking.

Trump Allegedly Handed Merkel A $370 Billion Bill For NATO

    Jacob Bojesson

    Foreign Correspondent

    03/26/2017

President Donald Trump allegedly handed a bill totaling more than $370 billion to German Chancellor Angela Merkel for money Germany “owes” the NATO alliance in defense spending.

The Sunday Times reports Trump handed the invoice to Merkel during their first face-to-face meeting March 17 in Washington, D.C. The exact figure wasn’t revealed but it was supposedly estimated from Germany’s total defense spending since 2002 — the year then-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder pledged to increase military contributions after years of pacifism.

A German minister called the move “outrageous” and said Merkel “ignored the provocation.”

“The concept behind putting out such demands is to intimidate the other side, but the chancellor took it calmly and will not respond to such provocations,” the unnamed minister told The Sunday Times.

Trump called out Germany over its lack of military spending in a series of tweets following the meeting with Merkel.

German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen quickly rejected the claim, saying, “There is no account where debts are registered with NATO.”

While NATO doesn’t keep a debt account for each member state, and the alliance’s 2 percent of GDP pledge wasn’t agreed upon until 2014, it loses out on more than $20 billion in German military spending each year.

(RELATED: If Germany Did Actually Owe NATO, The Amount Would Be Staggering [Graph])

The total gross domestic product in Germany since the start of 2009 is approximately $28.5 trillion, according to NATO figures. During these eight years, Germany spent about $359.8 billion on its military. The average defense expenditure per year is around 1.27 percent of total GDP.

If Germany met NATO’s 2 percent target each year, it would have racked up $569.5 billion since 2009, leaving a $209.7 billion gap in funding. The invoice Trump allegedly handed over to Merkel covers seven additional years.

Defense Expenditure in million U.S. dollars (2010 prices and exchange rates)

Germany is far from alone. Out of the alliance’s 28 members, just five meet the spending goal.

    Good point.

Keiran adapted to the change extremely well. However as a one off , I would have no objection.

Particularly as long as wee Gordon remains in charge.

In addition to that , my suspicion is that the climate in Scottish football is changing , such that the influence of the hun mafia is declining.

Early days , but that`s the impression I get.

Chris Sutton`s unprecedented straight talking is another example.

    P.L.`s fairly recent elevation .

He proved the lhad is competent on either wing.

Brendan has more options in his defensive lineups.

All accomplished without risking our unbeaten run or undermining the confidence of Lustig or Gamboa.

I presume Brendan will be on the phone later this week to express his appreciation of the Sxotland manager.
