Wee raffle: two tickets for Tynecastle on Sunday

294

“We’re only here for the party”. Hearts fans taunted us with that on 24 May 2009, the final day of the Premier League season, the day Celtic failed to achieve four titles in a row. Most of those who travelled west that day will be in the stands at Tynecastle on Sunday. They will see a different kind of party.

Chances are, you, like me, don’t have a ticket for the game. There are no tickets to be had for Celtic fans, and unlike 1988, when a few of us paid our way into the Hearts end under similar circumstances, even that will not be possible this time around.

I might not have a ticket myself, but I do have TWO TICKETS for the Celtic end of Tynecastle on Sunday to raffle for Mary’s Meals, courtesy of Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing.

You can enter here, for a minimum donation of £5. Please email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the word “Party” in the subject line to confirm your donation and entry. And include as many contact details as you think prudent to ensure you hear about your win (it wouldn’t be the first time someone didn’t catch their winning notification until after a game).

We win lots of leagues, but we don’t win them at Tynecastle too often. How sweet it would be to be there to celebrate and congratulate the team.

The good news is the competition is only open for two days, so there isn’t a lot of time to enter. If you donate after 22:00 on Wednesday – thank you – but your entry will not be considered.

13th Annual CQN Golf Open

This year’s CQN Golf Open will take place on Friday 28 July, again at our regular Aberdour haunt. It is always a magnificent Celtic occasion – and always oversubscribed. If you would like to attend, email Taggsybhoy, cqnopen@gmail.com

Beneficiaries of the night will be Walk with Shay and the Celtic FC Foundation, cost for the day’s golf, and evening meal and festivities, is £80, or £45 if you are an evening-only guest.

See you there……

Thanks enormously to Intelligent Car Leasing for their incredible support.  What a magnificent organisation to be supporting the club, and our charitable efforts.  Two tickets, competition only running two days, money going to Mary’s Meals, fill your boots!

  1. How lucky are we to have two talented lads like teirney and armstrong . If i was brendan rodgers i would have armstrong in negotiations to tie him down to a new long term contract , he is a smashing player . Keiran tierney as well , but not so big a rush as with SA. Keiran is one of our own , and living the dream . Stewart may well need more convincing to extend his stay .as i dont think that the club is in his heart the way it is with keiran . But no time can be wasted ,to try and secure these two lads asap .

“Given that none of the promises made by BT were fulfilled, I’d hope that nobody falls for the same tactic again. ”

Was it really just the BT side that did not fulfill promises? Did the Yessers not promise oil wealth beyond the fevered imagination of any sober man?

Are they really going to be honest this time and say- “Vote Yes and bring on greater austerity than the English Tories would visit upon you?”

  3. As the national article is along the lines of what we should be seeing from the National Press, I should be surprised that it is taking second place on here to comments on a Neverendum .

Don’t forget the “once in a lifetime”/ “once in a generation” undertakings from the leaders on the Yes side.

Nor the Greens’ manifesto stating that they would only support another referendum if there was clear public support for such.

“If a new referendum is to happen, it should come about by the will of the people, and not be driven by calculations of party political advantage.”

They even talked about a petition with a million signatures being needed before they would support it.

They’ve supported the Big Lie and got into such contortions to do so that they can’t get it right, even when they try, as in that National article.

Outcome of Supreme Court appeal no concern of Rangers (sic), of course, because in order to escape over 80 million pounds’ worth of debt, to 276 creditors, with the possibility of much more to come, they had to stop being Rangers.

So how can it be that any effect from the EBT case on the history of Rangers, like title-stripping, will affect Sevco, or, as Martin Hannan calls them, er, Rangers?

    Confused? You will be!

And that was the plan all along.

Indeed it was. And still is.

And the fact that it always has been is used as a stick to stop us demanding a clean and level playing field. Jock Stein’s comment about putting the ball in the net more often, for example.

IMO,that just makes it more important that we persevere.

I’m not going to argue against that. Not admitting that oil is volatile was a huge mistake. However only BT were put in a position to fulfill any commitments made, and they failed.

To be frank it’s going to be pretty hard economically for at least a few years whatever happens from here on in.

No democratically elected government anywhere in the world governs for all the people. That’s simply impossible.

One thing you can’t ever accuse the SNP of is burying a commitment to independence, and the same is true of the Greens. If either of those parties (or a combination of the two) is in the majority and put in place a referendum it can’t be said they didn’t have the mandate to do it.

    ##

    Yeah, cheers. Thank’s for that.

    I was hardly mocking him.

Merely pointing out that all this talk of Indyref2 is just waffle. There is no prospect of another referendum until after the next Holyrood election, and then only if the SNP/Greens have an outright majority, which is far from certain.

Another factor that no one is mentioning is that the SNP leadership and strategists do not want another referendum now, because they know that if they lose (and every indication is that they would lose) the games over for a long, long time.

But they have to maintain a pretence of demanding a referendum to keep the McGlashans in their support satisfied.

In the meantime the stuff the Government at Holyrood should be dealing with continues to deteriorate.

What it is to live in interesting times.

  15. Asinine SMSM Sevconian speak is normal as they stumble by, with established in built media control and nothing else. Whether they like it or not this is brand new Rainjurs determined that they’ll mimic everything the old Rangers did on the way to their grave, that includes everything but having to pay tax, and having no ‘known’ scheme to avoid it.

It was bad in enough in the day when they could rely on ‘sugar daddy’ casinos, floating pitches and Dodgy Dave mark one to get it from the banks and disguise it as as something else for more than a decade. Better still, pay wages that only they and the SFA knew about.

But now in the real wide catholic world they can’t even borrow properly because they know they have to pay it back. Sevco cannot compete with Celtic on a level playing field and certainly not whilst run by spent criminals, even old Rangers wouldn’t take us on, they cheated themselves out of existence and along the way sometimes got hammered by Celtic.

I’m glad Sevco have Level5 they helped kill old Rangers by keeping the dark side, in the dark.

Is the inevitable Greek style austerity a price worth paying in an ” independent ” Scotland?. Our poor and most vulnerable deserve transparency. I am totally convinced that they will suffer the most.

As for putting aside personal beliefs to run the country. Our current prime minister is carrying out the will of the people over what she believes and voted for.

Re oil pricing : This was not a mistake, this was individuals being economical with the truth. Anybody remotely connected with the industry knew this.

My last point on the oil, and one that the Yes campaign were scared to make for fear of hacking him off. The figures they used came from what was the current Wood Report at the time. He’s the authority on these matters and he was also wrong. I know of two exploration companies (one of which I had a small amount of money in) that wen’t down precisely because the crash wasn’t widely predicted,
