Weeoscar4life Glasgow quiz night

893

The good people running the weeoscar4life campaign have been in touch and asked me to pass on information regarding the appeal and forthcoming quiz night in Glasgow later this month:

“As many of you will be aware the weeoscar4life campaign team have recently been involved in raising the profile of a wee 3 year old boy from Belfast called Oscar. Many of you have kindly supported this initiative by purchasing CQN badges and wee Oscar wristbands and taking part in the “Small Change for US, Big Change for Oscar campaign”, with the money raised all going towards getting Oscar the treatment that he so desperately needs.

The next event that we have organised to help raise the £250,000 required for Oscar’s treatment is a quiz night. This will take place on the 29th September in The Phoenix (Previously Eastenders) on the Gallowgate with a 7pm start.

The quiz will be made up of a variety of questions, 50% Celtic related and 50% general knowledge. There will be raffle prizes and we also hope to have some live music after the quiz has finished.

Tickets are priced at £5 and you can buy as many as you wish for friends and family so long as they are over 18. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to make up a team of 4/5 as we will arrange you into teams before the event. We hope to be able to offer a ‘print at home’ ticket service so that you would be able to simply bring your tickets on the night.

Until then if you can contact us at weeoscar4life@gmail.com then Wecan begin to allocate spaces to those who have expressed an interest.

Thank you once again for your continued support.”

It is sure to be a fantastic night so please book early.

You can continue to read CQN Magazine FOR FREE, or can subscribe for £10 or £20 and our sponsor, Executive Shaving, who offer an enormous range of grooming products, are offering readers a £20 voucher for all £30 CQN Magazine subscribers.

    TET,

    I think the end game is the crown ludge putting the scottish rite in its place, that can only be done by a very public show of strength.

  2. A wee bit more agression son, and you can do it, go for it.

    When I imagine The Singing Detective, I see Denholm Elliott.

    Fits in with all the tailgunner pish.

    Denholm was actually downed in his bomber, and took up acting in a POW camp.

    Not too bad an analogy?

    Who am I?

    Harold, Steptoes’s son?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Mr Rascar….
    Why…Thank-you..!! Never Knew You Cared..
    Dearest Denholm was one of my most favourite actors….
    A True Giant Of The Movie Industry…
    And The Small Screen….
    A consumate,debonair performer….
    And a ‘hugely’ unappreciated talent….
    Disgracefully overlooked in the Honours List….
    Should have been Lord Denholm Of Elliott….
    At The Very Least..
    You Appear To Mock His Service As A Sergeant In The RAF In WWII….?
    While His Educational Attainments Guaranteed Him Entrance Into The RAF As An Officer….
    He CHOSE To Enter The RAF As An Ordinary Rank….
    And Was Quickly Promoted To Rank Of Sergeant For His Valiant And Perspicacious Devotion To Duty….
    That He Volunteered To Be A Tail-Gunner In A Halifax Bomber….
    Just Goes To Demonstrate That He Was ‘The Bravest Of The Brave’….
    The German Fighters Strategy Was To ‘Take-Out’ The Tail-Gunner First….
    Then Move In On The Defenceless Bomber….
    Additionally….The Design Of British Heavy Bombers Was Such,That The Crew Had A Slim Chance Of Bailing Out Of A Downed Aircraft….
    And As For The Tail-Gunner…That Was Virtually No Chance Whatsoever….
    1 In 3 Men Serving In The Bomber Command Lost Their Lives In The Struggle To Save Civilisation….
    Denholm served In The Elite 76 Squadron commanded by Leonard Cheshire….
    So…. His Plane Was Downed By German Flak In 1942….Whilst Attacking U-Boat Pens On The German Coast……..
    And He Was Captured After His Crippled Aircraft Was Forced To Ditch In The Sea..
    Hardly His Fault ….Though….
    And Who Knows…..?
    Perhaps His Gallant Contribution To The War Effort Decided The “Battle Of The Atlantic”….And The Eventual Outcome Of WWII..?
    DENHOLM ELLIOTT WAS THE RIGHT STUFF….
  5. FFS, they will look after their own, saving face is what they are all about.
    Maybes a wee spank behind closed doors, but in public, come on, you are no that daft to think that.
    Their supremisist veins will not allow them to give in, it’s inbread.
    Again I will reiterate, nothing will happen to them, they will be bailed out, again, and again if needs be.
    TET,
    dont kid your self, this is a major power struggle, the scottish rite has been fiddling the crown and that is a challenge to their authority which cannot go unpunished or they loose control, not an option for them.
  7. TSD
    Well played, but everyone loves Denholm.
    I need to pick you up the concept of mocking, there must be an injured party involved.
    I playfully mocked your posts about tailgunner, kinda dambusters bravado and all that.
    Those guys in the bombers have my utmost respect.
    As do the dambusters.
    But since the huns have claimed all that stuff, we use it for comic effect.
    And so do you.
    No kidding going on here, trust me on that.
    I wont post it online, but if you want I will mail it to you.
    The power struggle is going to be won by scotland, again I will stake my life on that.
    The goats who really matter are from north of the border, FACT, a hun fact, but a fact all the same.
    Going to bed now.
