The good people running the weeoscar4life campaign have been in touch and asked me to pass on information regarding the appeal and forthcoming quiz night in Glasgow later this month:
“As many of you will be aware the weeoscar4life campaign team have recently been involved in raising the profile of a wee 3 year old boy from Belfast called Oscar. Many of you have kindly supported this initiative by purchasing CQN badges and wee Oscar wristbands and taking part in the “Small Change for US, Big Change for Oscar campaign”, with the money raised all going towards getting Oscar the treatment that he so desperately needs.
The next event that we have organised to help raise the £250,000 required for Oscar’s treatment is a quiz night. This will take place on the 29th September in The Phoenix (Previously Eastenders) on the Gallowgate with a 7pm start.
The quiz will be made up of a variety of questions, 50% Celtic related and 50% general knowledge. There will be raffle prizes and we also hope to have some live music after the quiz has finished.
Tickets are priced at £5 and you can buy as many as you wish for friends and family so long as they are over 18. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to make up a team of 4/5 as we will arrange you into teams before the event. We hope to be able to offer a ‘print at home’ ticket service so that you would be able to simply bring your tickets on the night.

Over the years he has found the Bar raised in Mens’ Tennis year on year. He has always had huge amounts of raw skill but the way he’s built his physicality, honed his technique and stiffened his phsycological reslove to ensure he got his reward.
Djokovic is the consummate competitor and dogged determination and sublime skill, was always ging to be reuired to win this match of atrition – well done Andy Murray Olympic & Grand Slam Champion.

Read Mr Green’s meandering, defiant diatrabe yesterday, while I can accept that legal advice may have been sought, that statement was not the work of any competent Lawyer.
D&P’s announcment hot on it’s heals, although as they seem to be the party invited to participate it, I see this as the precursor, the Commissions findings might have clarified OldCo/NewCo’s posiion with regard current status and previous history.
I don’t think Charlie Green needs that before the share issue, hence his duplicitous statement.
This leaves the Scottish Footballing authorities in a self imposed indefensible position.
Their first and foremost duty is to Administer their codes, rules & regulations to ensure CLUBS are not only compliant but work within the spirit as well as the letter of laws and take steps to ensure these stringent standards are applied and maintained.
They singularly failed to do this by trying to make special provisions for a single Club.
I’ve posted a couple of times about the way that the English League enforced the responsibility of The Club in the Southampton case regardless and despite the Corporate Structures and Civic responsibilities.
They understood that allowing Clubs misdemeanours to hide behind some Corporate or other legal structure outwith Football was the road to disaster, clarity was called for and certainty was robustly enforced.
Ironic then that it was Englishmen that held no emotional or historic passion for Scottish Football that allowed malfeasance and made our Football the subject of ridicule.
The Soul of Scottish Football has been bought and sold for Englishmen to procure Gold.
Sports Personality of the Year is a tricky one now. Wiggins, Murray or Samaras? Hmmmmm…..

Great win for Andy Murray. I only heard the result when I got up but I`ve enjoyed reading the comments from the CQNers who stayed up to watch or listen to the tennis. :-) They captured the tension!
Managed to get a copy of Downfall at Waterstones in Sauchiehall st yesterday afternoon, there were 3 left after mine, might be worth a wee phone call to them if anyones still looking for a copy.

As a character I quite like Charles Green, he’s quite amusing. I also think he’s utterly delusional.
I wonder what the hordes will make of his statements to the effect that The Rangers had no intention of playing where they’re not welcome, in relation to the SPL?
He’s right to state that The Rangers have never been part of the SPL and have no business at this hearing and following on from that they’ll have no right to protest when the SPL retrospectively award the titles to the second placed teams in each of the seasons that Rangers were guilty of illegally registering players.
I imagine that when it comes to pass there will be lots of “We know in our hearts, who the true winners were” etc etc. It really won’t matter though because records will show different and it won’t take long for people not to care who received the trophy at the time.
Andy Murray restores the good name of that derided and tarnished clan. Clearly he and “Sir” David are from different branches of the family.
Compare and contrast these two Scottish sporting stories: one has integrity, struggle, honesty, heart-break, hard-work, skill, inspiration, determination and bounce-back-ability.
The other…? Sheesh, it’s like a swamp belching out foul and putrid odours on a daily basis.
Interesting to see the broadsheets not challenge Green this morning. Either they are doing his dirty work (again) or even they are getting fed up of this nonsense.
