Weeoscar4life Glasgow quiz night

893

The good people running the weeoscar4life campaign have been in touch and asked me to pass on information regarding the appeal and forthcoming quiz night in Glasgow later this month:

“As many of you will be aware the weeoscar4life campaign team have recently been involved in raising the profile of a wee 3 year old boy from Belfast called Oscar. Many of you have kindly supported this initiative by purchasing CQN badges and wee Oscar wristbands and taking part in the “Small Change for US, Big Change for Oscar campaign”, with the money raised all going towards getting Oscar the treatment that he so desperately needs.

The next event that we have organised to help raise the £250,000 required for Oscar’s treatment is a quiz night. This will take place on the 29th September in The Phoenix (Previously Eastenders) on the Gallowgate with a 7pm start.

The quiz will be made up of a variety of questions, 50% Celtic related and 50% general knowledge. There will be raffle prizes and we also hope to have some live music after the quiz has finished.

Tickets are priced at £5 and you can buy as many as you wish for friends and family so long as they are over 18. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to make up a team of 4/5 as we will arrange you into teams before the event. We hope to be able to offer a ‘print at home’ ticket service so that you would be able to simply bring your tickets on the night.

Until then if you can contact us at weeoscar4life@gmail.com then Wecan begin to allocate spaces to those who have expressed an interest.

Thank you once again for your continued support.”

It is sure to be a fantastic night so please book early.

You can continue to read CQN Magazine FOR FREE, or can subscribe for £10 or £20 and our sponsor, Executive Shaving, who offer an enormous range of grooming products, are offering readers a £20 voucher for all £30 CQN Magazine subscribers.

The first time my Dad visited Swindon about three years back,he was rightly pleased with the quantity and quality of the friends and acquaintances I introduced him to.

What p…d him off was the number of establishments that I was barred from!

I can’t remember getting barred from anywhere until I moved to Swindon, but made up for it since.

I guess I need a course of @r5eh0le Avoidance Therapy.

But then,if you lived in Swindon, you would certainly understand…..

  7. The 65 league cup final was the first time is saw Celtic . I was in the enclosure opposite the main stand . There was no segrgation and 3/4’s were rangers fans. After the final whistle when the lap of honour got towards the rangers half many of their fans invaded the pitch. The Celtic team had to beat a hasty retreat at one point throwing the cup to each other to keep it from the huns. The enclosure I was in then became a danger zone for anyone wearing green. Out numbered Celitic fans were being set-upon all over the place.

Outside making my way up to the station there were more scenes of serious violence with rangers fans being the aggressors in every case.

I must admit I went to that final wearing a blue scarf but that game was the turning-point for me .

From then on I started going to watch Celtic.

I see the St Mirren 10000 Hours group, who aimed to bring the club into the ownership of a Community Interest Company, has been unable to close the deal.

Real pity imo. Although clearly focussed on St Mirren, this was an important project for Scottish Football at a broader level.

  28. Video Celts

Euan ‘spot-kick’ Norris will referee Celtic’s visit to St Johnstone on Saturday.

Norris hasn’t refereed a Celtic match since his controversial handling of last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final when he awarded Hearts a last gasp penalty kick that saw Neil Lennon confront the official on the pitch at the final whistle.

A shot from Marius Zaliukas struck Joe Ledley at point range before hitting Victor Wanyama with Norris racing to point to the spot.

Earlier in the match Norris had missed an over the ball assault on Ledley from Ian Black which was picked up by a linesman with the Hearts midfielder fortunate only to see a yellow card.

After the game Lennon tweeted the views held by many Celtic fans, he said: “Referee told players he thought Wanyama handled…feel so sorry for players and fans..I think it’s personal myself.”

Later the Celtic boss apologised for confronting Norris saying: “I deeply regret what happened. I will be sending correspondence to the referee as an apology as well. It’s one actionable thing that I’ve done that I shouldn’t have done. I will go to the tribunal and hopefully get a fair hearing and take what’s coming.”

Norris has a history of awarding penalties with Rangers receiving two in the same match a year ago away to Inverness who had Ross Tokely sent off in one of the incidents.

After that match Butcher said: “I’m very angry, this is the second game in succession that penalties have been the main factor. I’ve seen the second one and it’s nowhere near a penalty.”

Speaking to Chic Young of the BBC he admitted: ”I couldn’t speak to you 10 minutes ago, because I would have probably ripped your head off.

“I thought I would have a quiet 15 minutes with Euan Norris and have a chat about things.”

Mike Tumility who disallowed a last minute ‘goal’ for Berwick Rangers will be the fourth official at the St Johnstone v Celtic match.
