‘WE’LL DESTROY THEM,’ ELYOUNOUSSI WARNS GERRARD AND CO

MOHAMED ELYOUNOUSSI has vowed to make up for his flop performance in the Betfred League Cup Final last week.

The on-loan Southampton forward was virtually anonymous against Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox outfit at Hampden before being hooked at the interval with Mikey Johnston taking his place.

However, the 25-year-old Norwegian international has vowed to make up for the false start and insisted the champions will DESTROY the Govan team when the clubs meet again at Parkhead on in a fortnight’s time.

Elyounoussi, who was returning from injury in the silverware showdown at the national stadium, told the Sunday Mail\: “When we meet them again we’ll destroy them.

“There are more titles to win this season, so we need to refocus.

“Rangers were strong in the Final and they were on the front foot. We grew into it in the second-half.

“But it wasn’t my best game. I hadn’t touched the ball for weeks.

“I wasn’t satisfied with my performance and I’ll try to be fitter for the Old Firm league game.”

Elyounoussi also missed the Europa League Group E trip to Romania on Thursday, but is in the squad for the visit of Hibs today.

It’s the third clash with the Edinburgh men in this campaign with the first ending in a 1-1 draw at Easter Road and the Hoops winning 5-2 in the Betfred League Cup semi-final where Elyounooussi netted twice in a Man-of-the-Match display.
