BRENDAN RODGERS anticipates discussing his long-term future as Celtic manager with the club’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and the board this summer.

The Irishman is due to come out of contract in a year’s time after winning doubles in his two comeback seasons, including back-to-back titles.

Rodgers, who has lifted 11 of the 13 domestic honours open to him during his two stints at Parkhead, has already stated he will be at the club “200 per cent ” throughout the forthcoming campaign.

The 52-year-old gaffer emphasised: “I made my promise to be here to ensure that people felt the stability that I would be and, of course, [there were]some noises around the end of this season.

“So, I just wanted to make sure that there was no distractions there.

“I’m sure at some point I’ll sit with Dermot and the board and we’ll have a chat around the future, but we haven’t touched on that yet.

“The focus has been purely on being successful this season and then we’ll arrive into the summer with real positivity and a real positive energy and I think that’s what’s important.”

Rodgers, speaking to Sky Sports, added: “I think having now come through the first spell to the second spell I now know 100 per cent you’ll lose some of your best players.

“But they can always be replaced – just like the manager can be replaced.

“Celtic’s in a great moment as a football club both on the pitch and off the pitch and my job is to keep driving the vision forward.”

There will be changes at Parkhead during the summer with the transfer window due to open on June 12 through to August 29.

Gustaf Lagerbielke, Luis Palma, Stephen Welsh, Kwon Hyeuk-kyu and Adam Montgomery are just five of the players due to return from loan spells.

There will be question marks over their futures at the champions while Rodgers will have to deal with ongoing speculation concerning Japanese internationals Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate among others.

It looks like being a hectic summer for the manager.
