BRENDAN RODGERS could be prepared to trigger the £1million release clause in Welsh international Chris Gunter’s contract at Reading.
The Celtic boss is on the look-out for a new right-back and has been watching the Loftus Road defender perform well for his country in the European Championship Finals in France.
Gunter, 26, has played in a crucial role in Chris Coleman’s side and provided the cross for Sam Vokes’ killer third goal in the 3-1 quarter-final win over Belgium.
The hard-working full-back will earn his 73rd cap against Portugal in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Rodgers is weighing up a move given the relatively low cost and will have received glowing reports from Chris Davies, who left Reading to join Celtic as his No 2 in May.
