Welsh inclusion arrested a persistent problem

It all looked too easy.  There was a collective holding of breath when Stephen Welsh was replaced midway through the second half but Celtic’s movement exploited a St Mirren team who bossed them in Glasgow less than two weeks earlier.

Tom Rogic started proceedings with a throwback to some of his classic performances.  His close control and ability to shift from right to left in an instant created space inside the St Mirren box despite the defence packing around him.

Scott Brown continued to look rejuvenated, as did Ryan Christie, who came on for Albian Ajeti and confused defenders with his perpetual motion.

St Mirren are a solid side, one of the form teams in Scotland.  After last night, we were left wondering what could have been?

Let’s hope Stephen Welsh makes it for Perth on Sunday.  I suspect a solid back four has a lot to do with the run of three consecutive wins, with 10 for and 1 against.  Stephen may never be Baresi, but his inclusion in the line-up for these three games arrested a persistent problem.

He’s thought very carefully about this I reckon

We should all try to imagine what it’s like to have your and your family’s life seriously endangered by Huns before we accuse him of “old-firmism”

Can you imagine suggesting that to his face? It would be ludicrous

Until Lenny’s recent utterances, I’ve not heard the term OF come from CP for years, and I mean pre liquidation

Neil decides what language he uses – if he’s uncomfortable with the media then take a leaf out of newclub’s book and ban them.

At the very least he should be distancing himself from the OF tag – no need to reference them in any replies.

I would be glad to have a face to face with Neil and explain my point of view.

  4. My personal opinion is the OF doesnt exist but would not prejudice any suitable candidate to manage our club if they mentioned it.

We need to be beyond all that. My mates and I dont attend games v Sevco and dont watch them ‘live’ on TV. I offer my ST to someone who wants to go but never hold it against him.

I don’t think if you met him face to face it would be wise to tell him how he should behave towards the Huns.

Do you think Baresi became Baresi overnight ?

It takes game time , good coaching , ability , skill , endeavour , game time , quality opposition , game time , game time …. to become Baresi .

Small steps , have patience and perhaps we will have Baresi … our Celtic version … simples :)
