STEPHEN WELSH looks to be heading for Swansea City after being released early by Celtic from his contract which still has 12 months to run.
The 26-year-old centre-back had two impressive loan spells at Motherwell last season interrupted in January when he was called back to his parent club and made one appearance in the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Aychinleck Talbot.
Welsh is a player in demand and the English Championship club are eager to finalise a long-term deal for the defender, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The former Scotland Under-21 international skipper has received other offers since becoming a free agent, one from the MLS in the States.
Welsh emerged through the youth ranks at the Hoops and was part of the squads that won three titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups.
He also had other loans at Morton and KV Mechelen before his outstanding stint at Fir Park.
