‘WE’RE GOING TO DONS FOR A WIN,’ WARNS GORDON

CRAIG GORDON has fired a warning to Aberdeen to let Derek McInnes’ men know that Celtic will be relentless at Pittodrie on Wednesday night.

The Scotland international keeper hailed his team-mates’ fitness levels following the 4-2 win over Hibs as they extended their unbeaten domestic run to a remarkable 60 games.

Gordon, looking forward to repelling the midweek challenge from the Dons, said: “I think we showed we had plenty left in the tank.

“In the last five or 10 minutes we were still going strong and were looking to get goals. The subs coming on really helped and added that little bit of energy just when we needed it.

“It was a decent team performance and we found a way to win.

“We’ve always got a gameplan, and we try to stick to that no matter what is happening, whether that be a decision that goes against us, or somebody producing a moment of brilliance.

“We stay relaxed and stay together, and we know if we do that, then we’ve got every chance of getting back into the game or move further ahead.”

The Dons, beaten six times by the Hoops last season, are level on points with the champions and something has to give at Pittodrie, but shotstopper Gordon insists Brendan Rodgers’ men are up to the task.

He added: “Aberdeen are keeping pace with us and they are playing really well.

“They’ve had to change their squad around a little bit this season, but there is still no let-up in terms of their results.

“They are undefeated in the league and it will be a very difficult challenge.

“It’s a big game and one in which we know we’ll have to go there and scrap and fight for the right to play and try to win the game.

“It’s always a difficult place to go, especially with them being up there level on points with us. That gives them an added incentive to stay there, but we will be going there to win.”
