‘WE’RE READY TO START AGAIN,’ BROONY

SCOTT BROWN admits he is relishing the prospect of starting from scratch as Celtic launch their bid for success on the domestic and European fronts.

The Hoops skipper powered through the team’s 3-0 success in Armenia on Tuesday as Brendan Rodgers booked their place in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers.

Brown and Co will complete the task at Parkhead on Wednesday when Alashkert arrive to go through the formalities of the return leg.

He said: “We’ve done it in the last two years and the club deserves to be in the Champions League, but we need to work hard and make sure we’re ready.

“The manager has done everything in his ability to get us ready and we need to make sure we do our talking on the park.

“Pre-season is all about us getting fit and ready for these qualifiers and also about the manager seeing everyone as a couple of players have come back from being on loan as well.

“Every single position is up for grabs. Last season is gone, it means nothing now and it’s about how we start this season.

“Our main aim is getting to the Champions League group stages to start with and then the league will hopefully take care of itself if we play as well as we’ve done for the past couple of seasons.

“Cup games can always be hard, going away from home, but for us, it’s just about looking to try and get into the next stage of the competition.”
