There is a subtext to the unedifying comments by West Bromwich Albion technical director, Luke Dowling, concerning Oliver Burke’s care at Celtic last season: Rekeem Harper.
Dowling told the Daily Record, “Once Brendan [Rodgers] left to go to Leicester the treatment he got from the manager that’s in place now is something we don’t expect for one of our players.” Short of curbing Burke’s playing time, as Brendan Rodgers also did, there were no issues between Neil and Oliver.
Rekeem Harper is a completely different matter. The 19-year-old central midfielder is out of contract next week and Celtic can sign him for Training Compensation money. He is coming off a breakthrough season at West Brom, where he made 12 league starts since his first in December. Celtic are monitoring the situation, while Dowling is doing what he can to persuade the player to stay in the Midlands.
These comments are all a bit transparent. They are not based on reality and I would be amazed if they convinced Rekeem Harper he should sign a new contract with West Brom.

On the subject of very tall players, footage of some of the players in their training camp showed a young boy towering over Jack Hendry. I think it might have been the boy Liam Morrison, who “the press say” is being linked to teams in Germany. Whoever it was must have been 6’4″ or 5″, given Hendry is around 6′ 2″.

This may indeed be about Rakeem Harper, but what does it say about West Brom’s attitude towards their own players? Burke has been thrown under the omnibus.
They care so little about Oliver Burke that their man, Luke Dowling, is prepared to go public over spurious nonsense about Celtic’s alleged treatment of Burke.
Was Oliver Burke privy to what Dowling was going to say?
It’s unlikely that he knew or that he would have approved of this public & very negatovely outting of him.
Where exactly does this leave Oliver Burke now?
West Brom clearly don’t want him.
Are other clubs going to be more or less inclined to take him on loan now that his own coach claims that he is a sensitive prima donna who is also a moaner – allegedly.
West Brom have soiled their own doorstep with this crap.
It’ll all end in tears.

I see The Guardian are saying that Arsenal are confident of getting KT for 18 million and that they believe KT wants the move.
This in the back of releasing their contract offer via the media some days back.
Arsenal have a real bad way of going about their business. Their attempts to rock the boat and unsettle KT are unbecoming and frankly rotten.
I recall Arsenal really pissed Liverpool off a few years ago with a an offer for Suarez that was 1p over why they believed was the buy out clause.

The Guardian isn’t really basing that off anything other than that BBC London Correspondent saying the club are “confident”
It’s an empty statement. Celtic have all the leverage with a four year deal (something every English source seems to ignore)
KT has made no indication that he wants to leave. Celtic have no other LB’s.
It’s worth ignoring for a few weeks.

Chavez. Lennybhoy is a very reliable man. He does get a bit of info ahead of the posse and when he does he posts it. As you well know nothing is straight forward with transfers and Lawell himself could be certain of a deal only for it to go pear shaped at the last minute.
I wouldn’t be betting my life savings on these moves coming to fruition but Lennybhoy is genuine & doesn’t come on spouting pish.

I am guessing you are a new Poster/Lurker. Or an infrequent visitor to CQN.
I simply pass on what I hear. What I post is reliable information I am passed about our dealings and who we enquire about. The Turnbull saga I was told was a done deal only for the goalposts t be changed, not by CFC. The deal is back on. In terms of what signings are concluded, I have had some success. However, I do not keep the scores on the doors. I simply pass on what I hear, the rest and who we come to sign is out with my control. What I have posted today we can expect Turnbull, Julien, O’Donnell and possibly Taylor.
I hear it will be a busy window both in and out.

We can live in hope and we should live in hope.
However without regime change I can’t see Celtic punching their weight in Europe and wonning all domestic silverware.
It seems to me that the Rodgers’ era was the exception rather than the rule.
There was an interesting thing from Paul67 a few days back. It was in regard to where Celtic “aspire” to be.
I found this curious for a couple of reasons, one is my own bugbear with the word aspire, my preference is strive in this context much more purposeful. The other thing is, aspire gives the feeling of aiming higher, I can’t see it.
We are paring back to being competitive with Rangers. The theory being as long as we have more money than them, then if they get too close we simply up the ante and out spend them.
The UCL peer competitiveness and the quadruple treble are just a pipedream now.
It’s kind of odd but now my expectations for the new Season are so much lower I’ll enjoy it more.
At some point we will get change at the top, the last three seasons show, for an ambitious Board, there is a workable plan to improve.
