In time we will forget, but for much of Celtic’s 0-9 win at Tannadice earlier this season, Dundee United held their own and forced the champions off their game.  An early Kyogo goal provoked United into action.  It was Kyogo’s second, on the 40th minute, that did the damage.  Before the break it was 0-4.

That game was Jack Ross’ seventh and final game in charge and eclipsed their 0-7 reversal in Alkmaar two weeks earlier.  In the vernacular, United ‘chucked it’.  We could expect a change in attitude when, after the players got their way, they arrived at Celtic Park in November.  The visitors levelled on 87 minutes, only to be denied a point by the team that never, ever, chucks it.

Since the World Cup break, United have lost only once in six outings, a home defeat to Newco.  That run took them off the bottom of the table; they are now tied on 20 points with Kilmarnock and Motherwell, three above Ross County.

Fully rested and in great form, I expect no problems for Celtic on Sunday.  United can look back on their early season woes and comfort themselves with the fact that at least their 7-1 aggregate hammering came to the team currently second in the Dutch league, whereas another Scottish club had the same outcome over two games against the fifth-place Eredivisie side.

Paradise Pit Stop

Every now and then the Celtic FC Foundation, YOUR Foundation, does something that stops me in my tracks.  With the cost-of-living crisis having such an effect, from next week they will open the doors to Celtic Park lounges on Monday and Thursday evenings, when volunteers from the club and Foundation will serve food, provide warm shelter and facilities for kids to play and study.

Celtic cannot solve the problems of poverty, but opening their doors twice a week to provide warm food and shelter to the needy is an incredible act which reflects our founding principles.  If you are involved in this, well done.  If you can only contribute monetarily, your efforts are invaluable.

What a club, what a support.  Just incredible.

    ………..

In my opinion…” GET IT ON” By T-REX is one of the GREASTEST ROCK and ROLL Songs EVER Recorded.

The late great ” ROBERT PALMER” joined forces with DURAN DURAN in the 1980’s to record THEIR Version of ” Get it On”, as a ” ONE OFF”.

Robert Palmer and Duran Duran, called themselves ” THE POWER STATION” when recording ” Get it On”.

Check it out on YOUTUBE Mate.

I hope that you and the family are all Fit and Healthy.

    I watched Sportscene earlier.

The efforts by referees is on view for everyone to see.

TheRangers must not lose. No one will be allowed to take points off them.

Who is behind the blatant skullduggery? No conspiracists.

That would require a consensus and the possibility of someone spilling the beans.

No we have a handful of officials hell bent on handing the Zombies a lifeline. They are determined to keep them in touch with us.

They have a common cause and will be continuously appointed to Hun games either on field or behind the camera in the VAR capacity.

Dubious penalties. Obvious fouls on opponents unpunished. Questionable dismissals.

They were all on display against the Perth side today/yesterday, and have been since the introduction of VAR.

It’s time to speak up Celtic. We can’t sit silently at the back of the bus.

    ……………

ROBERT PALMER and DURAN DURAN also recorded a Song called ” SOME LIKE IT HOT” in 1985.

Its rather good also, but I dont know IF it was a Cover Version or a ” NEW” Song ?

On BOTH Songs by Robert Palmer and DURAN DURAN as ” The Power Station”…its Robert Palmer on VOCALS and SIMON LE BON is Nowhere to be seen.

I think Robert Palmer joined up with just TWO Members of DURAN DURAN on both songs….JOHN TAYLOR and another guy from Duran Duran….I cant remember his name ?

    ………………

I TOTALLY AGREE with you Mate, but I also DO NOT expect Celtic FC to make ANY COMMENTS on ANY OTHER MATCHES that do NOT INVOLVE Celtic themselves.

As I type this on Sunday morning the GAP is only SIX Points between Celtic and the Huns.

The Huns would be NOWHERE NEAR Celtic….IF the ” RULES” had been applied FAIRLY since the start of the season, and especially when VAR came into play.

Everybody and their Dug can see it….but MOST will NOT ADMIT IT.

It doesnt help when the managers of the ” DIDDY” Clubs refuse to speak out DESPITE some shocking decisions going against their own Clubs when they play the Huns.

In the League Cup Semi Final, the HUN Player KENT Assaulted/Punched the Aberdeen player Liam Scales off the Ball…..the Aberdeen manager at the time was JIM GOODWIN.

GOODWIN claimed after the game, that it was NOTHING etc….when HE SHOULD have been slating the Ref and VAR.

Thats just ONE reason why I do NOT feel any sympathy for Goodwin after he was SACKED yesterday.

Was Jim Goodwin actually IMPLYING that HIS PLAYER…Liam Scales….. had ” FEIGNED” the Assault by KENT ?

Its no wonder that Goodwin had LOST the Aberdeen Dressing Room. Maybe Liam Scales and other Aberdeen players were RAGING with their Manager since then ?

    I dont know ?

  6. Good matchday morning all from a dark, chilly damp underfoot but dry at the moment Garngad.

Where is Melbourne Mick and his roaming tales from down under?

I hope the bhoys go for the jugular today and score a Barrow load and shut these Refs up wi their cheating.

Although I have 4 – 1 to the Leather belts 5, 6 or 7 would go down nicely.

The Arabs have on average scored 1 goal a game but conceded 2 or more, meanwhile we have scored on average over 3 goals per game whilst letting in well not even a goal per game.

So I am looking for goals from us but any win will do.

  7. Off for a few hours cycle in the beautiful hills but on bitterly cold day in south of France just now. Any suggestions for watching Celtic in a bar in Aix en Provence later today ?

  8. Goal difference no longer matters. So it’s a 10 point lead.

That’s too much for Sevco to catch regardless of the ref and the video ref.

Therefore points will have to be deducted from us somehow.

  9. Bad leg break in the A-League today with Spanish journeyman Juande having to wait 15mins b4 the ambulance arrived; horrid looking break which, at 36, may be career ending. Left some of his team-mates in tears:

Crowds are making it like a Serbia v Greece football tie. Tsitsipas v likeable; Novak a leviathan of the sport.

Expecting a 3-0 win furra Tic tonight. 3am Oz time ffs.

  11. Anything less than our result last 28th August will be perceived by some as going backwards 🙂

Personally I expect our unbeaten run under domestic VAR to continue, although I think the score will be circa half from the date above at Tannadice .

  12. ‘GG on 29TH JANUARY 2023 6:44 AM

GG agree entirely with your sentiments. I watched Sportscene last night and I concluded that what happened at Ayeboaks yesterday was so off the scale of likelihood and the laws of probability that it was a full frontal statement to us – these barstewards don’t care how bad it is nor how bad it looks, they are going to do their best.

I wasn’t becoming complacent, but I was starting to think that probably we were going to have a comfortable run-in towards the end of the season, usual wee hiccups, but Thums are actually fairly average guided by a fairly average manager (who spouts a load of ….) . As the season progresses more and more players in opposing teams will be fighting for their lives and livelihoods and will take on the Hun full pelt, causing the dropping of more points by Thums. Or so I thought.

After yesterday I’m beginning to doubt that. I now think that we are in an absolute dogfight with the SFA and their cohort of bent referees (including, of course, VAR). I’m also beginning to wonder if the level of cheating going on/ramping up means that there is something building up in the background at Ayeboaks and the only answer is access to Champions League money next year?

  13. The wee ” DIDDY” Clubs are also facing being on the wrong end of the HUN Refs and HUN VAR’s shocking decisions.

Celtic FC and Celtic supporters are being CHEATED almost on a game by game basis by the Hun Refs and the Hun VAR, without Celtic actually playing any game…that much is true.

However, the other Clubs and their Players SHOULD be uniting and speaking out against this CHEATING, as the BIAS that is shown to the Hun Klub almost every week, can….and WILL AFFECT where those other Clubs finish in the League etc.

Do these other clubs not realise that THEIR Players could be DENIED a Draw or WIN BONUSES etc not forgetting, another club trying to finish in a EUROPEAN Place…or indeed… AVOID RELEGATION, ?

These Players who play for the ” DIDDY” Clubs, could see themselves facing FINANCIAL implications due to being DENIED ” FAIR PLAY”, with the possibility that some club could face going PART TIME, IF RELEGATED ?

Whilst agreeing with your general sentiment, I am not 100% with you on the final part.

I think there IS a consensus but it is an unspoken agreement. There is, I believe, a subliminal understanding on the part of the Establishment that any Ibrox club MUST feature strongly in Scottish football. Being sub conscious does, I believe , make it vert difficult to tackle.

All WE can do, is keep on winning.

  15. BIG JIMMY on 29TH JANUARY 2023 11:21 AM

BIG JIMMY, difficult to find fault with your logic. I think earlier you referred to Goodwin saying there was nothing in K*nt hitting Liam Scales in the face – that utter nonsense would turn any group of players against the manager, but why did Goodwin say that, why did he not criticise/call out the officials for failing to do their job?

A few weeks ago Hearts were denied a penalty for hand ball (no laughing at the back, now) against the Stickies – not a cheap after the game from the Tynecastle mouth who can’t get in front of the cameras quickly enough after a game against us to point out how his teams have been dealt badly by the officials.

We can only deal with what is is front of us – Scottish football in general has to man-up and be united against a cabal which, as you point out, could have profound impacts upon their successes of failures this year. Maybe, just maybe, as some clubs see the impact of all this in terms of future income they might find their collective voices.

If yesterday’s farce is anything to go by , I reckon our officials are aiming higher than that .

All WE can do, is keep on winning.

HOT SMOKED, agree 100%, but after yesterday? That was ramping up at some scale, was it not? If so we are going to be really up against it every game. It is impossible to keep the ball out of our box for 90+ minutes every game – now if the ball even goes near our players’ arms it will be a penalty.

Assaults on our creative players? Maybe a foul given here and there, but never in the penalty box and never a red card. Our guys bump into a opponent? Foul and a yellow, minimum, and of course a penalty if it is in our box.

    Paranoid? You better believe it!

And, as I questioned earlier – is there something looming on the south side that only guaranteed Champions League money could avert disaster?

  19. This league is far from over, points difference or goal difference is irrelevant when you have officials assiting them in every game they play, eventually this will cost Celtic as we are likely to have an off day as we did at St Mirren, the media are in on this as well as they refuse to call it out and look the other way for paper blowing down the street, all we can do is win but officials will give everything possible against us.

  20. Economic pressure indeed …will be the only way to make smaller clubs act …hopefully as I stated yesterday starting with a Livi victory today …the minis cannot be allowed to get out of sight in race for 3rd …or the direct beneficiary will be Sevco on Wed night ..as Hearts will merely bend over and assume the usual position .

    ###

I doubt it’s anything as dramatic as that.

More the dawning realisation that they are slipping out of contention so far as domestic honours are concerned and the fear that the hun hordes will start to lose interest.

The Celtic Board might not regard that prospect with as much enthusiasm as the fans would.

  22. ERNIE, as well as my well-stoked paranoia leading me to my (tongue-in-cheek) suggestions of looming problems south-side, it is the ramping up of the one-sided ‘errors’ by referees and VAR officials recently.

Yesterday was almost gob smacking in its crassness and absurdity, but for the fact that it involved Gollum, but it is a more extreme example of a late trend. IF the trend continues then today at Tannadice is sure to bring firworks on here.

Just a wee bit of fun because of the Horses NAMES.

    For a £1.00 Stake….IF BOTH Horses win , the Return would be £50.00 ?

    Just for FUN…

    ………..

Ive also just noticed that in SOUTHWELLs 2.25 Race…..Apart from the Horse called ” NORMAN FLETCHER”….there is another horse called..” SMILING GETAWAY” in the SAME Race.

That could be a MUGS POOL/ FORECAST ?

Again, it MAY pay to take ” SMILING GETAWAY” in the 2.25…AND ” DEFINITE GETAWAY” as a MUGS DOUBLE ?

Remember its just for a bit of fun, do NOT gamble too much.

  24. I think we now have to actually factor in a soft penalty against us and a good goal disallowed by VAR, with the possibility of blatant ignoring of any penalty claim by us (the completely farcical award v Morton was a patsy). We need to ‘score’ at least three goals n every game.

Incredible statistics. 49 games without conceding a penalty in the league.

My only question about that article is how the headline writer managed to bring Celtic into it. Did I miss sonething? How is that a celtic/ rangers stat?

The desperation to not have to face the obvious and question the disproportionate benefit to the zombies is almost as shocking as the number of decisions that go their way.

Watched again thus morning. Both red cards clearly wrong. The penalty – well, every team but sevco get punished for them (or teams, barring morton who are playing celtic) so there us a consistency of sorts there and they’ve been given. Just not for us and not against them.

    Awful stuff.
