I wonder if we will see two rival Scottish Premier Leagues next season? We could see a SPL consistent with the threats made to SFL clubs last week, let’s call it SPL Loyal, with Hibs, KIlmarnock and a few others. They would sit atop a feeder league containing whoever they could attract from the SFL and Sevco, who due to fan power would be excluded from the top division, no matter how few teams that division had.
Meanwhile a rival SPL could setup, let’s call it SPL Solvent, with Celtic, those from the Gang of 10 who realise they are better-off participating in a league which is likely to survive until next May, along with the teams who last season finished near the top Scottish Football league.
SPL Solvent would make no threats to exclude SFL clubs who were due promotion on merit, and would therefore attract the balance of SFL clubs; which is likely to be the overwhelming majority. This league would contain the only club with the ability to underwrite the commitments needed to bring broadcasters and commercial partners on-board. It would also be free of, moral and ethical questions, where clubs are united with their fans on what it means to organise sporting events.
It’s not the worst idea floated in recent weeks.

Thanks anyway.

Really pleased to hear that, Sir. Good job TTT’s son as well.

Tonight is Ticky Tacka against Attackaccio . Quick voting in Poland gives 60 percent support for Italy and 40 percent for Spain. My all ladies tell it’s Balotelli’s team that takes it.
01/07/1690 – the Boyne
01/07/1863 -Gettysburg
01/07/1916 -the Somme
01/07/1942-El Alamein [first].
People born on July 1st enjoy the ole major confrontation ;/)

never to old to learn!!
Great CQN Monikers
Why were Hibs in with Kilmarnock in Paul`s fantasy league? Has Mr Petrie changed his mind about integrity? What have I missed?

As things stand I foresee Celtic playing Aberdeen at the start of a 12 team SPL. I am in favour of a new structure though, and given that we do not yet know how the SFL teams will vote this week, we should at least be thinking of alternatives. Should Sevco be admitted to a league which could give them access to the Premier league (in any form) next season then all bets are off. I have been saying for some time that the demise of Rangers could provide an opportunity for change. A 16, 17, or even 18 team top division would make more sense. If it could happen before August, add Falkirk, Dundee and Dunfermline etc, then I am all for it. We have seen the efforts of Regan, Doncaster and Longmuir, corruption personified, we need alternatives to that.

Paul McStay deserved much more success that he ever was rewarded with at Celtic.
Great respect for him that he stayed when it’s likely he could have moved on to bigger and more financially rewarding things.
SALTIRES.if you are about can we have another question tonight to see if anyone is clever enough to take theYELLOW JERSEY off me.halftime at the fifba would be ok.
For the life of me I cannot see why anyone would want another SPL, it all reminds me of the old Mike and Bernie Winters tale..
The existsing SPL has been found wanting, to create another expanded version or an alternate version would only create the same smell from different droppings.
The answer has to come from above the SFA/SPL level of decision making. It`s been a shame that the fat cats at EUFA have been troughing it up at the Euro 12 competition, but surely this week will see them get down to sorting out this mess.
I hope that the proposed transfers of Hen Broon and Plug will bring a focus to the mess down Govan way.
FITBA EVEN!!!!!
EDB – yes , a good player in a bad team, one of my favourite sub-categories of Celts.

I am hedging as well, just polishing off a jug of Sangria made from Italian wine and have some Sambucca on standby for extra time.

Paul McStay, showed you, I & every other fhan what it means to play for Glasgow Celtic. He had the ability, the skill, the craft & every other atribute & a true gent. Money was never his motivation, his was pure love for The Celtic Family.
Hail The Maestro.
Spain go with Cesc up top , Silva on right and Iniesta wide left, I expect Silva to play more central ,but what do I know?
‘Good player in a bad team’ is a description that would fit nearly all of the Lions before Mr Stein arrived ;/)
Spain playing with no striker again.
We’re hoping for Spain to win in our house but won’t be devastated if Italy take the trophy on merit.
What’s brilliant is that it’s proper football that has won through.
I believe Del Bosque has picked Fàbregas to start. I give the English commentators ten minutes before questioning this and saying the big man should have played a striker. What they really mean is they haven’t really thought through what the formation is and what it is for. Give them a good old fashioned 4-4-2 any day, with plenty of hoofing the ball up in the air and loads of throw-ins. It’s like a different game.
If Spain score early, it will be great to see what Italy do in response. Spain going two goals up before half time would give us a brilliant game. If Italy take the lead, Spain won’t change. The know chances will come.
DBBIA he played in some great teams too and was brilliant. Big fan, always will be. Can’t believe some stuff I hear from fans of other teams who can’t accept what a great player he was.
I think it’s going to be brilliant.
Embdy care to run a sweep on how quickly , and how often ,C.Tildesley mentions ‘United’ in a game between Spain and Italy?
I ask again. What has Petrie been saying?
The current world and European champions, going for an unprecedented triangle tonight, does not need Alan Shearer of Martin Keown to tell it how to do things. If they don’t understand, fine, but it’s their problem.
I think Paul67 is setting a scene whereby the SPL vote on the 4th doesn’t go the way we have been lead to believe that it will if thems can’t gain a place in SPL2 at least.
Paul67
What clubs would join a league that Celtic were part of.Knowing that celtic are making plans to leave for another league?
Alternatively,Celtic could have no such plan in place.
