On watching Celtic on Tuesday I wondered, ‘What will Juventus learn from this performance?’ Their scout will have left with a few notes.
Celtic can break quickly and effectively. Both Hooper goals came as a result of moving the ball the length of the field, mostly on the deck, at pace.
Their threat from corner kicks was re-emphasised. Charlie Mulgrew delivers the ball with sufficient pace to benefit from unpredictable movement, beyond the anticipated swerve. This will be difficult for defenders, keeper and attackers to meet, but Celtic players clearly put a lot of work into practicing getting onto the end of these crosses.
Hopefully the scout will have learned nothing about how we will defend against Juventus as we were somewhat erratic early on against United and were not pressed thereafter.
Juventus are rightly favourites but this this is a thankless tie for them, especially when the first message delivered is ‘Don’t concede corners or free kicks in wide positions’.
They will also be alert to the dangers of being caught forward when Celtic can break effectively. Celtic conceded through this mistake against Spartak last month but I wouldn’t expect us to leave as much empty space in defence at any point against Juventus.
My main worry about Celtic is over how much practice they are putting into penalty kicks….

Petec,
I suppose the nazi version was a corrupt svastik

“Tilted”
To me that sounds very Neo-Nazi. I’m only pointing out that the orientation of the symbol has been changed in different cultures. I think all secret societies, even ones that are Catholic, invert symbols, the dove flying down rather than flying up.
Petec,
As I said throughout India there is only one orientation I witnessed, and it was/is not tilted.
The nazi version is a corruption.

Good morning CQNers,
What are the SFA going to do with Kenny Shields?
The SFA hand him a two match ban plus a two match ban suspended from the Dec 13th for transgressing rules 68 & 71 ……
>Making comments in media interviews that impinged upon the character of a match official, Andrew Dallas, by stating that Andrew Dallas had “fabricated” evidence for and during a Judicial Panel Hearing on Thursday 13th December 2012 and that he had acted in a “manipulative and devious” manner in respect of alleged misconduct by Mr Shiels at the match on 24th November 2012 between Kilmarnock FC and St Johnstone FC.)
Not acting in the best interest of Association Football by making improper comments of an insulting nature in media interviews stating that Andrew Dallas had “fabricated” evidence for and during a Judicial Panel Hearing on Thursday 13th December 2012 and that he had acted in a “manipulative and devious” manner in respect of alleged misconduct by Mr Shiels at the match on 24th November 2012 between Kilmarnock FC and St Johnstone FC.)>
What does the bold Kenny do?
No sooner does he leave the disciplinary meeting than he’s repeating the accusations against Dallas on the steps of Hampden. He is quite clearly seething and struggling to control his emotions when he explains he’s an honest man and Dallas and others are out to get him but he wants to move on so he’s accepting the ban. Unfortunately the video has been dropped by the BBC and I can’t find it anywhere.
In summary – One of the SFA’s officials is accused of “fabricated” evidence and being manipulative and devious during a Judicial Panel Hearing yet the accused only gets a two match suspension for this and improper comments in a media interview.
One would have to say this was lenient in the extreme when compared against other punishments handed out by SFA disciplinary committees and begs the questions-
Why were the SFA disciplinary committee so lenient? And what are they going to do about Kenny Sheilds repeating the accusations about Dallas?
Will Dallas sue?
Will Kenny publish his evidence?
Watch this space as I don’t think Kenny Shields is a man not easily cowered.

This whole Sheils business is very concerning
Far less from imposing stupid Bowling Club type rules …should they not be looking at the bigger picture ….the allegation of corruption among match officials
Closed shop bully boy mentality …scarcely any wonder that the game is such a mess in this country
Petec,
Buddhism is an offshoot of Hindi, so I’m going with the Indian version however it has been used in Native American culture too.

Indeed, this is all very reminiscent of the Dougie, Dougie fiasco and highlights how little progress they’ve made towards leaving behind they shameful history.
I thought it was clear that if left to the SFA nothing will change.

What the reversed, or the ancients would say, normal Swastika symbol?
I posted a comment on here from a Masonic site about the links to Native Americans about the Red Hand. If they are broadcasting it, you better believe it.

Thank You.
I never realised this was on right now.
Andy has the confidence now and he will, hopefully, overcome the best player in the history of Tennis.
Is it symbolic. Chelsea – Celtic.
The hun thing.
They called us huns before we called them huns.
It just seems to be a term of abuse without any particular historical origin.

Murdochbhoy, yermanfromMK 08:21 on 25 January, 2013
I said that yesterday – it stinks the place out. I’m sure Dallas threatened legal action – and why wouldn’t he? After all being accused of ‘fabricating evidence’ is as serious as it gets for a match official.
And it certainly merits more than a two-match ban. I like Shiels. He is a straight talking boy (and the only person in Scottish football I know of who spoke up for Neil Lennon when our manager had to deal with bombs in the post).
Major questions remain unanswered here.

Can you substantiate that Mr Canamalar? We’re often accused of leaving lights on for the luftwaffe and lots more which is historical rubbish. I often get into huns for being nazi’s but I’ve only got yheir behavior to back this up (and some u-tube evidence.
Do you have video or photo evidence of swastika’s at the crumbledome?
Murray breaks Fed in game 3, then lets Fed back in from 40-15 on his own serve, bit of anxiety and a couple of break points before seeing it out.
3-1 Murray.

One of his main beliefs is in a good protestant Calvinistic work ethic, he believs this is what made the British empire and also played a major part in making America

For me,mate,his religion is irrelevant.
Have never noticed any untoward bias of the nature you suggest in any of the many programmes I have seen.
Don`t think he would have achieved what he has in the U.S. if he had been a profound believer in the league of Empire Loyalists.
They don`t tend to fancy any of that.
Fed comes back from 15-40 to hold. Murray narked at a couple of chances missed.
Sartorially, Murray has gone with a 21st Century high tech black and olive lycra outfit, very fetching, while Federer is wearing his favourite washed out Fred Perry which looks as though it went through the wash with his jeans by mistake yeasterday.
