What did we learn yesterday?

406

There’s a question I have heard over a long time from football people, “What did we learn today?”  It is usually asked by a coach who wants his player(s)  to figure out the change he wants to make.  So what did we learn yesterday?

If any doubt remains that the current Celtic squad are very effective as 3-5-2 and relatively ineffective as 4-2-3-1, it can only be from someone who was on Twitter most of the game.

Gordon Strachan endured some torrid criticisms as Celtic manager.  I am sure this informed his pre-match comments on the “Twitterati’s” verdict on the tactical deployment against Ferencvaros.  Gordon assured us Neil Lennon knows the players better than anyone, especially online fans, and he picked his strongest team to start on Wednesday and again on Sunday.

On any level, this is true.  Neil Lennon knows his squad better than any of us, just has Gordon did in his day.  Both men are also tactically better versed than most of us could ever hope to be.  But the sight of two central defenders making rampaging runs at different times late in the game against Motherwell, surely will convince the final doubters: three at the back, two up front and leave the middle five fluid.

  1. Also Delaneys Dunky, the Financial Clout, that the other Clubs around England for

example, & Europe, is staggering compared to ours, that is also what we are up

against. Financialy we are out of their League, which is another very difficult

hurdle, which we would need to overcome. However, never say never, in trying

    to achieve.

That is why I mentioned Marcelo Bielsa today.

Wanted him as Celtic manager when Brendan got us £9 million fae Leicester. Could easily have afforded him.

Watch what this genius does with Leeds United. Top 6 at least I predict.

Gonnae put a pound on Leeds to win EPL.

I think George Connelly did the Kerry up v Dynamo Kiev at the cup winners cup tie in 1966.

The game jock stein played the players out of position was a friendly against Dynamo Zagreb in 1967.

It was arranged to give the players experience of playing Yugoslavian opposition as we were due to play Vodjvodina in the European cup quarter final.

Der Hun equalled Steins 9 record albeit with financial fraud. This season Celtic have an opportunity to put the record straight and remind der hun their squirming heretic throats are exactly where God wants them to be, mercilessly under Fenians boots.

George Connelly I saw very little of too, though I do remember when, as a youngster, he came on at half-time and did a keepie-up session. I think that was a friendly game where big Jock played a very experimental team…Tontine? Anyone?

  11. The game Jock played the experimental team in was against Dinamo Zagreb in a friendly. Tommy Gemmell played at centre forward and many other players were played out of position. Zagreb beat us 1-0. I was there and remember if fairly well.

    No quatre asked, none given.

Ten In A Row is a lifetimes work. Squealing squirming der Hun will have to live with that forever (in whatever shape or form they now Sevco a la).

That’s the mission this season. We don’t need Jesuits, they have better things to do converting heretics. We need 60,000 Neil Francis Lennon’s backing Celtic.

My wee Da spent most of his beer time in a pub in Kinning Park

called the Clutha, loads a Tims in there as I used to have to wait

Get Duffy, McCarthy and Paddy Robert’s. That’s my suggestions to help us win 10.

I dont want anyone to go but if we have to then Ntcham and Ajer thanks for your service but bye bye.

Answers on a postcard now fellas.

  20. DD , St Tams,

I too would prioritise a European trophy over the 10.

I know the CL is out of our reach, but realistically with a bit of tactical awareness, luck and determination the Europa is a viable aspiration.

That is why I was absolutely gutted with our pathetic home showing against Ferenovaros. ( A club worth a fifth of our value and their top spend a third of Eddie’s cost )

We desperately needed the CL group stage, for financial and profile reasons. Then I would be content to drop down to the Europa.

Put bluntly; Scottish football does not float the boat of many foreign players, we need the incentive of European participation to attract the quality we all desire. It is European football where they are judged , subsequently enhancing their prospects to one of the mega leagues.

    However, we move on.

    HH to all.

    ………………………

    MELBOURNE MICK..

Celtic v Dynamo Kiev in season 1967/68. It was our first European Game after winning in Lisbon. We were beaten 1-2 at Celtic Park, and drew 1-1 in the 2nd leg in Kiev.

The Celts wore the ALL GREEN Strip that night at Celtic Park, but as we were beaten ( especially as being the Champions of Europe), at that time….To the best of my memory, that ALL GREEN Strip was viewed as our ” Lucky Strip”, as we had never been beaten when wearing it.

Again to the best of my memory, Celtic NEVER wore the All Green strip ever again after Kiev had beaten us at Celtic Park ?

I had that All Green strip as a wee Bhoy…and I loved it.

I am AFF OOT now, there are far too many Chumps on here who post absolute Crap….Imagine thinking that “Nice One Cyril” song was about Cyril Regis of WBA ?

That is just one example of Fake News being spouted on here by certain Chumps.

Another example is the poster ( I cant bring myself to type his feckin name), stating that ” I have watched Celtic for 57 years”…???????

This is a Chump who probably hasnt seen the Celts in 30/40 years…and who has NEVER made ANY attempt to get to Celtic Park during that time…outwith the COVID Restrictions etc !

More Fake News from Chump No.1

I hope that you are well, please tell PADDY that I was asking for him.
