What money Dave King has left, he should put on Celtic for the title

265

It is a little more than two months since there was angst over accusations of soiling sheets, and I remember the question, “Would you rather have lost the cup final and won on the 29th?”  Progress in football is not linear.  Even for the imperious (that’s us), it has regular defeats and disappointments.

We cannot cope in West Lothian, taking a solitary point from two visits, and lose concentration against Cluj and Copenhagen, but eliminate Rennes and Lazio, both flying high in top five leagues.  Step back and you see the big picture, a year on from Neil Lennon parachuting in as caretaker manager, Celtic are playing their best football in three years.  There is confidence in the future and hope of even better to come.

As a consequence of Tom Rogic’s late equaliser and the utterly hilarious disintegration of the ‘Let’s go’ manager at Ibrox, we can relax and enjoy the procession to that most remarkable of records: nine-in-a-row.  Whatever money Dave King has left to invest in Newco, he could do worse than to put it on Celtic to win the title.  His meagre winnings will be welcome when it comes to paying Sports Direct, among others.

Now it is all about St Mirren, our next biggest game of the season and a chance to go 16 points clear.  Bring it on.

Jaysus, all these recommendations for Motherwell players.

    Must be some team.

Turnbull is 20 years old. Campbell 21.

These guys are already showing their worth in the SPFL. We could do worse. Neil Lennon obviously shared my opinion on Turnbull.

As for Campbell… he might be worth the punt. He enters the final year of his deal next season. Depending on the interest from elsewhere it could be low cost.

  5. I was advocating Celtic should buy Turnbull at the end of last season.

Campbell hasn’t made as strong a case but should be worth consideration. He’s a fit and durable young player:

“40K is the distance Allan Campbell ran between matches against Hibs, Livingston and Celtic according to Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson”

The guy has played 100+ games already for Motherwell.

Maybe we don’t need him as Soro is great. Who knows really?

If we are going to sell Rogic, this summer would be the best time to do it. He is 27 so should be at the height of his powers. He has fallen down the pecking order and would not be a starter if everyone is fit.

While I think his skill set brings something unique to the table, his injury record coupled with his fitness/lack of mobility issues mean that he is not going to be first choice any time soon. Having said that, I’m not sure how much we could get for him.

I use the soccerwaydotcom site to check out league tables and find a variety of ways to laugh the huns.

It maintains a six match form table which combines each club’s most recent three home results and three away results. Presently on form, they are out of the top six in eighth position. Aberdeen are eleventh.

Morning, seeing numerous comments on social media about mocking SG in the 8th minute on Saturday. Why not actually celebrate our magnificent no. 8 Broony in the 8 minute rather than the aforementioned.

You’d hope that there is a club that doesn’t do its due diligence on fitness.

Perhaps the type of club that would employ the likes of René Meulensteen

I like that. I like that a lot.

I’m also a huge fan of the ditty ‘bye, bye Rangers….’ I hope we can get the whole stadium rocking with that one soon.

  11. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

On the subject of games potentially being played behind closed doors or postponed, the one issue which may swing the debate will be if a team suffers an outbreak of the virus. In that case I see no other option but to postpone fixtures. Whether that would only apply to that team’s fixtures or the whole league is another matter.

But if players have to self-isolate for a couple of weeks at least, I can’t see how they would be able to return to a normal schedule within the time frame for the league season.

Can someone elaborate on the ‘Dubai rumours’. What was supposed to have happened?

    ————-

I don’t know names. But I do have info that it involves

    – ladies of the night

    – recreational drugs

    – Colombian marching powder (which I personally distinguish from recreational)

    – pressuring younger members of the squad to join in with some or all of the above

  20. Regarding Tom Rogic. He is my favourite player, though Frimpong may replace him soon.

I’ve noticed he often doesn’t celebrate his goals (winner v Aberdeen in cup final a notable and understandable exception). Typically he gets surrounded by team mates and then cracks a smile at something that has been said.

He celebrates more vigorously widen others score, especially if he has provided the assist.
