‘WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?’ ASKS CUP HERO

ADAM IDAH settled the Scottish Cup encounter with his ninth goal for Celtic at Hampden yesterday.

The powerful Republic of Ireland international striker, a 61st-minute substitute for Kyogo Furuhashi, drilled in the late winner with the Final finely balanced and heading for extra-time.

And as the 23-year-old forward savoured the unique atmosphere of the Hoops fans celebrating the team’s fourth victory over Rangers this season, he beamed and said: “What more could you want?”

Idah netted the third for the champions in their 3-3 draw at Ibrox last month, but, obviously, this strike was even more special for the Cork-born attack leader.

The on-loan Norwich City hitman, who joined his boyhood favourites in January, said: “My job is to score goals and when you get a chance like that, you have to put it away.

“I’ve scored against Rangers before, but this one tops that.

“It’s the most important goal I’ve scored and to do it in the last minute against your rivals, what more could you want?”

THE OLD ONE, TWO…Adam Idah and Stephen Welsh grasp the newly-won Scottish Cup.

Idah, speaking to Celtic TV, continued: “Ever since I’ve come to Celtic, the reception I’ve had is fantastic.

“People say you don’t realise how big this club is until you come here and now I’ve had the chance to witness that.

“I had a lot of people here for me in the stadium and I know everyone back home would have been watching, so it’s a fantastic feeling.”

The burly raider also praised Brendan Rodgers for opening the door to Parkhead and he added: “I was always confident in my own ability although people might say I didn’t have the best stats at Norwich.

“But speaking to the gaffer before signing, he gave me the confidence to go and prove myself to people.

“I hope I’ve done that and repaid the gaffer.”

Now Idah and Celtic will have to play the waiting game for the next instalment in the Idah story.

There could be some hard negotiating coming up in the summer to see where the £5million-rated striker will be plying his trade next season.
