What now from HMRC after New £9m tax delinquency

1073

Contrary to our earlier understanding, Rangers did not win a ruling from the Court of Session on who was to be appointed administrator, HMRC and Rangers came to agreement on the appointment of Duff and Phelps, who acted for Whyte during his takeover of the club.

The admission by Duff and Phelps that today’s court action by HM Revenue and Customs was in connection to circa £9m unpaid tax accrued since the takeover in May last year will come as a surprise no one in the Celtic Quick News community.  This is why Rangers are now in administration, it’s nothing to do with the big tax case, or indeed, the wee tax case.

Key question is, what will HMRC do now?  They’re not going away/. Rangers continued to sign football players despite being delinquent with taxes, and briefed journalists that they rejected a £9m offer for a player on 31 August 2011.

The fact that the business is in administration due to activity carried out under Craig Whyte’s tenure may also interest the Insolvency Service, who are already investigating Whyte’s takeover of the club following information passed by former chairman, Alastair Johnston.

One final push (this week) for the Vanessa Riddle Appeal. We have a Celtic top signed by the first team squad available to auction on eBay. You can bid on the auction and help send Vanessa for the treatment she needs by clicking here. Thanks to Penfold for the donation and to Taggsybhoy for organising (yet again).

  2. Tough question

If Celtic organised an “Ice Cream and Jelly” party at Celtic Park on 25th March, would you refuse a ticket for Ibrox?

Who would Celtic pay for a beamback?

Would it go towards proving that Celtic fans wouldn’t miss the “Old Firm” tag?

A cracked Rangers crest? In the Scottish media? I’ve been out for about seven and a half years, so what’s brought that on, did they lose a couple of pre-season friendlies in the USA?

Agreed that we should remember the likes of Paul McStay tonight, who was a prince of footballers and who chose his club over his bank account in the 80´s and the 90´s.

If only Rangers had had more like him.

From another angle Fergus McCann, lest we forget. The Rangers media is in tatters tonight but Fergus faced them when their teeth were sharp. Cqn has been instumental in changing the reporting of football matters but in the mid nineties no such ally was around for a Celtic board. He stuck to his task, was professional with a great work ethic. I bet Rangers wished they had had a few more like him……………………….

Yes Mr McCann, yes we Could!!!

I´m remembering the times when our pablophanque, noel90 and supercelt kept the craick flowing under Paul´s brilliant management when CqN began. Tonight is a great night for them too

My rant has been lost forever, hold on, maybe not!

    Posting again, sorry!

Evening from a still mild but smiling Kentucky.

Have a wee favour to ask. Can we get a list together of the MPs that were calling for people to help Rangers survive? I have seen a few posts on here over last couple of days quoting people in power that say everything should be done to help Rankers survive for various reasons, Scotland’s football needs a strong Rangers, too big to fail, jobs will go at Ibrokes etc etc.

These people need to be outed and reported to their respective parties / boss. There are far too many starting a movement, as you’ve all discussed, to drop a NewCo smack bang into the top league for, and I quote, ‘for the good of the game’. Good of the game? How many teams in Scotland, operating on limited budgets are now owed money from Rankers? Last count was 4 totaling around a million quid. They’ll not see their money, maybe pennies on the pound so in effect they have stolen from most of the clubs in Scotland. Good for the SPL, aye right.

Whyte took over with the intention of not paying tax, NI, PAYE and tried to screw over ever creditor he had. I don’t doubt HMRC will be pursuing him for much more than just not paying his dues. It is criminal what he has done and they know it as their actions this morning showed. This is his great plan? To lie, cheat and eventually do a wee admin dance and then everything will be OK. No, no.

His past isn’t murky, it a classic case of a little scumbag who weaves around the legalities of the business world and systems, robbing Peter to pay Paul (even when he is both Peter and Paul!) asset stripping and asset cover ups. I know, I know, leave him alone he’s doing work at Ibrokes we could only dream of. “This debt was here when I took over’ yes Craigy boy, it was and you added 9mill to it, mortgaged off the next 4 yrs of tickets as well.

Murray before him was (is) a criminal, he’s lined his pockets and his cronies with money that should have gone to schools, NHS, grass roots fitba investment and so on, good for Scottish football, aye right. That is our money, our countries money, our children’s money and all those veterans that got paraded at Ibrokes.

We are talking 75mill here, 75 million folding earth pounds and he / they are still doing it,

So back to the list I mentioned. If nobody has already done this we need to get it together and get a petition going, sent to the Scottish Parliament and the other wee one down in London somewhere, think it’s next to a big clock. People in positions of power should not be allowed to make these statements asking for support of criminal activity. People in power, people on TV and Radio should not be allowed to spew this bile about dirty rotten crooks liars and cheats. They are poisoning out nation, they are going against everything we want our kids to learn and be.

Like Ard Macha link above – The UK Honours System

    – steps have to be taken to help rid our land of this evil, corrupt blight, they must not be saved, they must not be helped, at the best and very best they should be dropped in 3rd division and Murray, Whyte et al should be banned from ever owning a business again and ordered to pay back every penny in profit they have made, come out of admin stronger, aye right. Empty these criminals accounts.

I’m happy today, happier than I have ever been but I am also mad at the wheels beginning to turn to protect what must not be protected. Hopefully Lawell will have a solid statement again tomorrow. We should boycott them, others should boycott them, not line their corrupt, coffers to enable a rebirth.

    Rant over,

    HH!

Thanks Paul for all the great coverage over the last few days, weeks, months, no years!

  17. Paul good work with the domain name, will come in handy soon!

Make the point on 5 live that a lot of Celtic season ticket holders have season tickets that don’t include glasgow derbies and are happy with that

Oh and sign off with “we don’t need no stinking Rangers”

  18. The guy on “Scotland tonight” A Dick, reminds me of the time a guy phoned Snyde just before Wattie left them the first time and advocate was joining them as manager.

The guys says don’t know why Rangers are going for Dick, they already have Donald Findlay. True story.

  19. down south for the week and cannot believe this is lead story on sky news and channel 4 news! I smell the work of SDM PR and favours being called in all over the shop from the brotherhood. Their purpose? just save the Hun , no more no less.

The campaign to re-instate is now in hyper drive and will continue.MSP`s amd MP`s now getting involved, the plight of the unemplyed cleaners, young footballers will be all over the place.

SDM has the affrontery to be surprised at all this happening ? A neck for everything but soap as we would say.

I still think Whyte will be the patsy, and will be trousering a good% of the money that he has stashed away , the balance will reappear in the hands of the new owners. A suitable bunch of goat tamperers will be handed seats on the board with a media freindly ex Orc, Walter or Richard the Gough will be in the frame and the cess pit will be open for business in time to get the new orange away shirt on sale for July.

On a lighter note, just loving the choice of mentalists Sky and BBC are showing across the UK, the grief stricken mob ( appriox numbers 25) look like a credit to their club down at the “big hoose”

Beam back at parkhead on 25th march sounds great… But we’d never be allowed a full house as Celtic and rangers aren’t allowed to play at the same time at home I’m guessing for safety reasons. I’m sure it would be ok but possibly only for 10-15’000.
