Contrary to our earlier understanding, Rangers did not win a ruling from the Court of Session on who was to be appointed administrator, HMRC and Rangers came to agreement on the appointment of Duff and Phelps, who acted for Whyte during his takeover of the club.
The admission by Duff and Phelps that today’s court action by HM Revenue and Customs was in connection to circa £9m unpaid tax accrued since the takeover in May last year will come as a surprise no one in the Celtic Quick News community. This is why Rangers are now in administration, it’s nothing to do with the big tax case, or indeed, the wee tax case.
Key question is, what will HMRC do now? They’re not going away/. Rangers continued to sign football players despite being delinquent with taxes, and briefed journalists that they rejected a £9m offer for a player on 31 August 2011.
The fact that the business is in administration due to activity carried out under Craig Whyte’s tenure may also interest the Insolvency Service, who are already investigating Whyte’s takeover of the club following information passed by former chairman, Alastair Johnston.

Ibrox tickets aren’t available yet mate.
‘Yes’ to wee Fergus, unfurling THAT flag…………..
However can I suggest a slight sartorial flourish that would add a certain piquancy to the proceedings??
Instead of his usual ‘titfer’, the minted mountie might consider sporting an oversized floppy green sombrero as he saunters out on the Dear Green Place towards the Flag pole…..
A Gallus GIRUY……………
(I’m clappin’ already!)
:)
From twitter . News coming your way on here tomorow, on as what Celtic are about to do re the current situation at ibrox top source.

Couldn’t agree more re Motherwell. Loathe them as much as the manky lot and the mini manky lot!
EmeraldBee\o/, I think by absorb the tax case they meant add to the existing debt of MIH. It was not another Philanthropic Chairman Murray action. Llyods called that in (if it was ever a reality) and said no ta were not taking £68m and… what happens when you can no longer service the squad assembled at great cost. Their ability to service the debt had gone. Lloyds got out. Rangers got shafted.

Hope the statement will point out that, as well as cheating Dundee Utd, Hearts, Inverness, Dunfermline, Rapid Vienna, etc. out of money, they have cheated Celtic out of league titles and potential CL income.
The timing of Peter Lawwell’s statement yesterday, or was it the day before, was masterful. Did he know what was going to happen?
Hamiltontim – cheers mate i didnt think so. Actually never been to that hole before but got a feeling its gonna be 1 hell of a party!

Quick question Paul (sorry that it refers to a much earlier post of yours today): if MIH had planned to absorb any FTT penalty (c.£50m as widely assumed), why did Sir D and MIH HAVE to accept what the bank wanted, ie. the offer from Mr. Whyte. Surely they could have absorbed the £18m into MIH as they allegedly were going to do if the tax case went against them?
++++++
MIH were in de facto administration at the time and under control of Lloyds Banking Group – Murray had no choice in the matter.
could Celtic take, or at least threaten to take, legal action over Rangers title win last season ? And of course any other title they won while the EBT were in place ?

I cannae wait for that one it should be some occasion!!
You couldn’t make this stuff up….priceless!
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by.
If you smile through your pain and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through
For you.
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Ooohh
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky
you’ll get by
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Smile.

Whilst I agree with the calls for Fergus to be welcomed back to CP and given the proper recognition for what he did for us – may I suggest that the mum and dad of Reamonn Gormley be invited to unfurl the flag for the great work that young lad did in such a short life. He epitomised everything that this club and it’s fans are about.

To expand on that – MIH/LBG would have been looking to add the orc debt at the time, £18-£30m, as well as the potential HMRC debt of another £50m (plus the other small tax bill of £4.2m).
For a single pound coin, LBG were able to get rid of a potential write-down of £80m.

P = Penury!
it`s about time a third party had a real look at the fashion in which the huns have been conducting their business over the last 20 years
insolvent trading, failing to pay other clubs transfer fees , tax evasion
in any other league they`d be investigated and if proved thrown out
instead in this nonsense league we have the media, politicians etc bemoaning their plight ……dreadful day for Scottish football yada yada
the fraudlent, cheating disgrace that is RFC should be gotten rid of once and for all
