What price an SPFL game against Celtic in America? £2m? More? You can’t blame Dundee for being enterprising but I can’t see this initiative happening.
Celtic are the Great Gravy Train of Scottish football. We defy the status of our league to reach European Nirvana, which enriches us but also pays a healthy dividend to our supportive (cough) domestic competitors. The Caravan of Celtic arrives once or twice a year at each location, bringing paying fans and TV cameras. Therein lies the business model of many Scottish football clubs.
This is fair enough, but there are limits beyond which it’s inappropriate to spread the Gravy.
Don’t think I’m being sentimental here. Dundee can play their home games wherever they like as far as I’m concerned. They can move them to the US, in fact, if they convince the residents of Dingwall to do likewise, I’d have no problem with the ideal. Just so long as it’s consistent with a significant growth strategy for Celtic. The odd £1m here or there isn’t worth it for us otherwise.

Re Keirnan. Did the supposed “conflict of interest” re Craigan have a bearing on this decision. A can of worms avoided por cierto.

There was absolutely no criticism intended in my post. I agree with you that Graham Taylor came over as a good man treated very badly by a hurting Press. Your comment seemed gently expressed and was quite funny ( albeit predictable ! ).
Bada!
In fairness, he was pointing at the 5 cm marker when he said ` or double that`.

I can still clearly remember walking with my uncles from Plains to Broomfield for a game on St Patrick’s Day 1964, which we won 6-0 on our way to the league title.
Brilliant, sunny day with Hail Glorious St Patrick sung during the game. :-)))
I am absolutely amazed, dismayed and flabbergasted that anyone should be amazed, dismayed and flabbergasted at Keirnan getting off.

Is this the same Celtic PLC who was prepared to play ye olde Rangers FC in Boston not long before that club’s downfall? The same board happy to split $1 million then and yet now apparently able to treat £1 million with disdain? I wonder what has changed this last year or so? Then I think back to yesterday’s leader, a game listed all season as Saturday March 11, moved to the Sunday by our old friends Sky TV, the company with their own special gravy train, one that Celtic keeps rolling north of the border. Still at least we’ll no go the way of Bonnie Dundee.
If Kiernan didn’t punch him, can anyone tell me what he was doing?
See it didn’t take long for Celtic to get the blame for the “not proven verdict”.

prayer to be said for your wife.
Bvithday wishes to a few celebrated CQN’ers. A cyber pint for all of you. sorry I am not there to buy you a real one.
is anyone really surprised by the Kiernan non-verdict? the game in scotland is not on the level ….
Welcome to Celtic Kouassi
Meaning of name Kouassi – He who lives in two worlds. (Ashanti name)
Good, sounds like he will be prepared for playing for Celtic and then reading about his performance in the Scottish MSM.
anyone shocked at the Kiernan verdict by the SFA , hisnae been paying attention :)))))
Emdy running a bus. To the Dundee game :)))))))) HH
Roccobhoy might be worth checking out getting to Belfast and getting the Flybe flight direct to Inverness then train/bus to Dingwall. Whatever mode of transport you choose you will go via Inverness, there are regular trains/buses to/from Edinburgh/Glasgow/Edinburgh to Inverness then on to Dingwall, check the timetables for connections. The Dingwall rail station is right beside their ground. Hope this helps. Hail Hail Hebcelt

The board, please, not celtic.
Every day seems to bring the opportunity for some self-assurance by way of proving to yourself and everyone else that you were and are right. Its a rare talent but, strangely, one I’m not at all jealous of.
Or maybe thats exactly what all us are doing on here and I’m part of the same sorry game.
I think I need a lie down

I have a floating bus with casino on it if that’s any use?

I’ve seen a few humourless comments about the damage to Celtic Park over the last few days.
Really surprised that so few people can fail to see the funny side of it.

Must have been a helluva long walk.
We didn’t win the title until the 65-66 season. : > )
To be honest having Kiernan available to them now is a bit of a punishment…

johann murdoch… (or anyone … just mendtioned JM since he commented on this issue)
when a player is suspended in the SPFL, does he forfeit his salary?
I know in the NHL, players forfeit their salary when they are suspended. Players’ money forfeited due to suspension or fine goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund, while money forfeited by coaches, staff or organizations as a whole go to the NHL Foundation.
It might be happening in football already (I genuinely dont know), but will all the concussion stuff that is coming out (and is going to increase in the future), this might not be a bad thing for players ….
Anyone got a link to the Keirnan punch, can’t find anything on YouTube. Thanks.

As for Dundee wanting to play Celtic in the States – why not?;
As long as Dundee pick up the tab for the Hoops expenses and perhaps charter a jet to take over a faithful group of deserving regular Celtic away support and even some of their own Dundonian Huns, then their project should be given consideration – they’d still get a nice pot of change even given the above rider.
