Columbian forward Camilo Duran is a relatively late developer. He was playing fourth-tier football in Portugal three years ago. Two moves later he pitched up at Azerbaijani champions Qarabag, which he enjoyed his breakthrough season. Now 24, he is in Scotland for a medical with Celtic having agreed terms for his transfer.
It was his stats in last season’s Champions League that got him the move: five goals in 10 games. That compares favourably with nine in 30 Azerbaijani league games, the reasons why he prospered more in Europe than domestically is informative.
One of Camilo’s main attributes is his mobility, he attacks space and is known for pressing opponents when out of possession and there is not too much of that in domestic football for Qarabag. They lost out on the title for only the second time in 13 years last term and face deep-sitting defences in almost every game. This explains why the player flourished against better opposition and will reflect what he can expect should his deal go through at Celtic.
Physically, he looks more like a winger than a striker, someone who will time runs into the box, not a player who can hold his position against a central defender or compete in the air. The same could be said about Kyogo, whose perpetual motion outdone opponents’ best efforts to subdue him, but that is a high bar to compare to.

“All that thing about the backroom staff was totally down to me delaying too. Seriously.”
Good to know that while we might have issues at management level this wasnt one.
And also a very good sign that we’re looking at a collaborative working relationship between Martin and the Board.
RIP Mary

Very sorry for your loss.

Thank you. Goodnight.
I’m becoming a little unsure on MoNs statements.
The level of shielding he provides the board seems odd, almost too much to be considered normal.
He defends DD way beyond what our eyes tell us is happening and now it’s his fault all the management and coaching appointments took way too long given we know where we were for months? Odd.
He did add amongst other things …?
Taurangabhoy,
May your Mum rest in peace. I shall say a wee prayer for her, as you asked.
Moisey17 @ 10:08 am,
While I have to agree with you on that, there is no doubt our club is in turmoil and Martin’s priority seems to be getting it back on the tracks.
He’s got broad enough shoulders to carry that burden, so getting a Celtic first team worth the name and shielding the hierarchy, whether they deserve it or not – will be important in a transition season.
Do they deserve that? Well, what they achieve in the time and space MO’N has brought them will determine that.
============================
T’was off oot Tuesday night, so just caught up with the second half at Tolka Park.
Better performance than the first half I thought – Kyle Ure always impresses, the season with Broony would have helped.
Interesting penalties, Shin did the stutter, we have seen a few make a horlicks of that at the WC.
The Shelbourne penatly was a great traditional one…
The WC might have some good penalty takers but imo Shelbourne had someone twice as good – they had Harry, Harry Wood…

Sshhhheeezzz….One Year…..still fondly remembered in this household. One Year, eh…Much missed, indeed,
condolences Taurangabhoy
We keep talking of how we need another goalie.
How about Ross Doohan using all his experience and upping his game to challenge Vil for his No1 position?
He’s not a kid, has heaps of experience and knows the SPL well – surely his lack of suitability isn’t matched by his own lack of ambition ?
I mean, how many of us have had the luxury of a well-paid job where you’re just expected to turn up with no likelihood of any real accountability in the remote chance anyone tests your performance in the heat of battle.
Just turn up for great wages but we’ll ask little of you !
Not a dig at the man personally but jeez – make the decision hard for the coaches and really work for yer corn Rossco !
