What we are up against and why we cannot submit

245

It is not making a murderous gesture that is the greatest affront; it is the normalisation of it by opinion makers and influencers.  We are asked to believe that it is acceptable for our footballers to make a throat cutting gesture when leaving the field.  It is not, never has been, and at no time in Scottish football’s often disreputable history has there ever been such a low point.

There have always been some low-life footballers and there most probably always will be.  They are worth our pity as well as our condemnation.  Trying to normalise the despicable is new.

I don’t believe any of those who are defending murderous gestures honestly want to live in a society where this is the norm.  What they want, is to stop Celtic winning nine-in-a-row, and they are prepared to subvert every ethical value to achieve this.

This is what we are up against – and why we cannot submit.

  1. That PR thing……………………

    :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Celtic could find a cure for the Big C and the hun meeja would either ignore it………..or find a sleekit way of positioning the story in as poor a light possible.

The scoddish meeja is tiny and easily dominated by one or two well-rewarded, effective players.

    It’s not difficult.

Even if they weren’t retained there would be a very eager and enthusiastic cohort of hunned-up pro’s throughout the meeja aye ready to print thur “blueprints”……..

Look whit they’ve goat away wi’ already.

    We can’t compete with that.

The huns best trick has been ascerting that we are one half of the same coin……….the reality is we are a tiny minority with a Club constantly under siege by a much bigger community who either actively despise us and ours or who couldn’t care less about us.

That’s what we are up against.

    HHH.

  2. McNut

` They run rings round us on every contentious issue that arises. They are ‘first out of the blocks’ with the Ibrox version of events every single time.`

I think you give the Ibrox Media team too much credit. The MSSM not only unquestioningly accept every word from Ibrox, they actually promote and accentuate Hun propaganda.

I feel Celtic do not do enough but we do have a much more difficult task in a very pro-Sevco Scotland.

  3. Hot Smoked @ 13.35 hrs.

    Thank you for your reply.

I think we must separate the dreadful events of the past in which 66 persons went to a game and never came back. Indeed Celtic were as one supporting Rangers in the aftermath, and rightly so.

We as a club and support much commiserate with the rest of civilised society.

Now to the present: We need to ban the huns from Parkhead. We can justifiably cite safety concerns ( Poignantly we nearly had a very serious crushing incident with Police Scotland accommodating the 800 huns ).

We should also cite unacceptable chants and behaviour which have no place in this century never mind the new decade .

It is sooooooo obvious the Huns are way ahead playing the media game. I’m sure we have equally paid media savy and legal teams that really need to get their collective fingers out and PUBLICLY defend our club , our players and our supporters.

    Cheers and HH.

  4. 3 people arrested for shouting racist & homophobic abuse at Brighton v Chelsea game YESTERDAY!!!!

Proof that no such racist abuse was directed towards morelos FOUR days ago!! as surely people would have been arrested by now with all the CCTV available at Celtic park!!!

Time to stand up for your fans and OUR club Celtic!!!

  5. ” aye, just have that typed up and send into Sandy or Shona at the sports desk and I’m sure they’ll get it on air right away….”

    :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  6. Anyone care to compile a list of bona fide pro Celtic media men and women in comparison to pro newco?

On the pro side, other than Michael Stewart, Gordon Strachan and Chris Sutton, are there any more?

I’d put Provan, Walker, Commons and Nicholas in the “once were but no longer are” category. They are used by the media to pretend they are taking a balanced view when they know none of them will defend Celtic’s interests.

  7. Navanbhoy- Huddersfield v Stoke game stopped for sectarian chants against James McClean yesterday, and announcement over tannoy, only a matter of time before it happens up here…….aye right

  8. I should have noted that Michael Stewart is not pro Celtic but by being professionally honest he doesn’t regurgitate the blue narrative.

  9. Deniabhoy:

`As far as the rest of the UK goes, Celtic is a pro-IRA terrorist supporting club that harbours child molestors.`

Unfortunately, I feel there is a lot of truth in what you say about the way Celtic are perceived in the UK ( but not, I feel , in Europe?) . Yet another sign that the MSSM are achieving their objective.

We should also cite unacceptable chants and behaviour which have no place in this century never mind the new decade .`

For me, the second of those two points is the route I would take. Of course safety is paramount but it is invariably not an issue. The behaviour of the Hun Support is ALWAYS an issue.

    Navanbhoy

    Good point.

Greenpinata…”I’m sure we have equally paid media savy and legal teams…”

Unfortunately, we don’t. We have Iain Jamieson plus one or two gophers…

  11. ” DENIABHOY on 2ND JANUARY 2020 2:01 PM

I should have noted that Michael Stewart is not pro Celtic but by being professionally honest he doesn’t regurgitate the blue narrative.”

I was just going to respond to your previous post and say exactly that !

Also, I don`t feel that Sutton is really pro-Celtic in the way that Boyd, McCoist etc are pro-Huns. He is often critical of Celtic players and of ref decisions which SEEM to favour Celtic. The Hun guys never do that.

  12. Remember the trouble Tom Boyd got into for speaking out on cheating ref Beaton on Celtic TV? Anyone hear the outcry against Kris Boyd for saying the same about Clancy on SKy?

  13. ‘This is what we are up against – and why we cannot submit’

Good trolling Paul 67, especially after your 360 degree turn on res 12…surely you are at the wind up?

  14. Good afternoon CQN from a windswept soaking Garngad

Just back from a few days in Oban and all the shit after our recent Glasgow Derby.

As I said previously, I never witnessed the end of the game, whilst there at the game I went and sat inside I could not stomach it. Have Celtic came out and slated Sevco as a club yet and demand that the authorities take action??? Probably not is the answer as our custodians are shite bags.

    McNut – great post earlier.

    D. :)

  15. Straight to the point Paul. Celtic should be straight onto the fTSFA first thing tomorrow defending Christie, asking for action on Morelos and Kent as well as outlining what went on in the tunnel. They should then announce now tickets for the Huns until their club make them clean up their songbook.

If you think this is bad, wait till next season when we are going for 10!

  16. weebobbycollins on

Hot Smoked…you often comment on the bbc’s slant on things Celtic and rangers…Have you seen the 5 videos from the ‘old firm’ game? 1…Christie grabs morelos’ genitals. 2…Sportscene analysis – ‘morelos had Jullien and Ajer on toast.’ 3…Did Jullien foul morelos? 4…Watch gerrard and rangers celebrate. 5…Highlights.

and the Tims in the sports department lowered their heads and got on with their master’s work…

  17. weebobbycollins on

Lambert14…I can be a wee bit pedantic at times, however…if you swivel 360 degrees, you’ll find it’s the same view you get. Perhaps if you try 180 degrees. :-)

Coincidentally, I was just about to post this link:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50962390

and say that I will be amazed if Ryan is gound `Not Guilty.

To answer your question. No, I haven`t seen those videos. I have decided, today, to simply stop reading/watching/listening to sources which are just too ridiculously biased to be trusted in any way to be informative. I realise that leaves me nothing in the MSSM. I don`t think I will miss it !!

  19. WEEBOBBYCOLLINS on 2ND JANUARY 2020 2:29 PM

    Thanks for pointing that out.

I’ll blame the hanover from too much to drink yesterday.

I hope my point on Paul makes sense now.

  20. PS

I also see the irony of me posting a link from the Biased Broadcasting Company just as I am giving up on them !!

  21. Hot Smoked – the irony also of the BBC being banned from Ibrox despite them bending over backwards to appease them.

  22. DB

Correct. One could almot be led to believe that they (BBC) were trying to get back in their Masters good books .

    Cheerio for now.

  23. I have met many English people on holiday, never and I mean never have they asked me about Celtic being a pro IRA club or the support pro IRA, so please dont generalise about what the population think of Celtic fans.

  24. Paul,

Agree 100% but we have seen nothing in terms of leadership or countering of the scandalous outpouring of hate from the media against the club. They are now gleeful in their attempts to attack our players, support and club.

You reap what you sow and we are now paying for the years of silence from our board.

I hope your piece is aimed firmly at Lawwell and the Celtic PR team (if we have one).

Economics be damned, that mockery of a football club and it’s support should have been kicked out of Football and our board did nothing but issue mealy mouthed statements as opposed to demanding clear legal action against the cheats from Ibrox and within the SFA.

This year better be the last of this approach from Celtic or we may as well switch off the lights.

  25. This has now become deplorable. We now have Alistair Johnston re-writing history in today’s papers, and being printed, for Gods sake.Liquidation never happened. This is a full frontal attack on us by a club that knows no depths of shame. This Board of ours are pathetic.I cannot find words for them.Do they not realise that this attack from the scum, calling our fans “Racist”,printed all over the world, can have far reaching consequences.Sponsors may not want associated, our name trampled in the mud.Are they fekin mice.To just sit there and take this is a disgrace. They do very little ,but you would have thought that upholding the clubs good name would mean something,if only,in their case, financially.

The latest from the BBC regarding no charges brought against Morelos,is ludicrous. No mention of Kent’s actions, worse.Like the “Shame game”we were punished more.If GIRUY,is a yellow card offence, then how is it possible that throat cutting is not, especially after a red. That would be a double red card, and around 6 game ban. This is what this trumped up offensive by the scum is about. If we let this go,while Christie is up for a ban, then this Board deserve everything they get.Trouble is,we are the ones to pay.

  26. If Christie’s hearing is on Monday, i dont expect Celtic to say anything until that has been decided. If Christies charge is upheld, and Morelos isn’t cited for the gesture, then i think Celtic will make a statement.

Some will say that is a necessary step but in all honestly i am not convinced either way. We have been here before. The victim narrative does not wash with me and does not stand up to scrutiny after what has and has not transpired over the past 8 years. The SFA institutionally discriminate against Celtic, we knew that then and we know it now.

Bottom line is we weren’t good enough on the day. Morelos and Kent’s gestures were irrelevant to the result. There were a few reasons for that, Elhamed and Elyonouissi missing out didn’t help. Tactically we made errors. And lastly we lacked quality in certain areas. We need to concentrate on addressing the latter and quickly. That should be our no1 priority.

Paul67 with the greatest respect, you may believe what you posted today. This may be the view from inside the walls of Celtic Park. But lets be clear, we are now reaping what was sown on and off the park over a lengthy period of time. The SFA and the Huns are running amok and it was ever thus. And Bayo, Arzani, Shved, Kouassi, Benyu and others are coming back to haunt us as is the absence of others who should have been signed.

It’s all on the line and as you said the other day, nothing is guaranteed either way. It may already be too late. Celtic need to throw the kitchen sink at this or the current custodians go down in infamy. It may take a generation to recover from failure.

  27. DessyBhoy – I should clarify that what I said about the rest of the UK was in the context of how we are portrayed by the media. The message given out is That Rangers are pro-British and Royalty, we decidedly not.

I lived in London for 10 years. I met plenty who were pro rangers, anti celtic thanks to this narrative. Most English football fans get their news from Sky Sports. They have a very clear bias.

The No Surrender brigade is the most vociferous part of the English national team’s support. Celtic and the ROI are considered one and the same.

  28. The hands cant hit what the eyes cant see on

    @CELTIC BY NUMBERS on 2ND JANUARY 2020 3:08 PM

Last year we won the league on account of the strength of our defence- lots of 1 goal victories and tight games throughout the season.

In fact, it’s amazing the drop off in goals scored over the last two seasons in comparison to the invincible season and even Ronny’s tenure beforehand: 106 goals in 16/17; under Ronny we had 93 and 84 respectively. The last two years have been 73 and 77- both less than Sevco’s totals.

However, come summer we had a whole defence to replace so the focus was there. We only supplemented the attack by bringing in Elyounoussi. It clearly wasn’t enough.

Eddy has not had proper support or competition for the last 18 months; ditto for James Forrest. We have neglected these areas for a couple of seasons and it is coming back to bite us on the ass.

  29. CelticbyNumbers

As always, love your stuff and the data tends to confirm what the gut does feel…

Overdependence on Eddy, missing Moi, unfair criticism of Jamesey, the desperation or ego of Griff rulling his head and the total absence of bayo from the scene.

We need more artillery on the field.
