What would Neil Do?

491

It all starts for real next week but, unlike most previous Celtic managers who finds significant interest in his star player, Neil Lennon is pretty chilled when talking about the player moving on.  I want to keep Victor, he reminds me of a young Keane (Roy), Neil will want to keep him too, but you have to wonder, what the manager would do with some cash to spend.

Only just catching up with CQN and the UK media, is anyone still interested in the big ball game?  Delighted to hear the man from Dunblane got his just rewards.  The excellent BBC documentary on him two weeks ago touched on issues you and me and not qualified to touch on here, but there is a great humanity story wrapped up in his achievement.

Our paucity of sporting genetic raw material is apparently untrue.  From a (temporary) distance it’s evident he has branded the Scots better than any grappling politician ever could.

Its good to have the football back. Has anyone had the “pleasure” of watching our games thus far? Its as well that we’re all now schooled to the its all about fitness theme or there might be some wailing and gnashing of teeth. There was no doubt both sides played were ahead in their fitness levels but there were some pleasing points not least the performances of Liam Henderson Calum Waters and Darnell Fisher . Henderson particularly has all the poise and grace that distinguishes quality players from others. Very promising and lets hope that’s not the kiss of death for his prospects.Virgil clearly is going to be a good buy whilst Amido looks as though it will take time. Steven Moyokoulu I like and do hope he gets an injury free break with us.

Onwards to Greuther Furth and more preparation for our first CL game a prospect so many others can only dream of.

Ive liked the look of van Dijk, not noticed Moyokoulu much, concerned at another season of tinkering with centre half partnerships and trying to fit players into the team.

We seemed to be technically inferior to both teams and severely lacked creativity mainly in the middle of the park, I’ll be honest it was hard to watch some games last season, these friendlies very hard to keep interest in. Is big Amido Balde a further move towards goals from Stoke-like hit and hope crosses, free kicks and crosses?

Will still tune in tonight though.

Think the point bellamy is making is that mo matter the game tevez will run through a brick wall for you and run himself into the ground.

Therefor he will be sore from kicks from oppenents and that means he wont train aswel as the rest of the players for a day or 2.

All I’ve seen of Amido is the friendlies and what’s on You Tube. The You Tube footage for me suggested more to his game than headers but so far I’d be concerned at the number of times we seem to be taking an aerial route to find him. What was noticeable was that there never seemed to be anyone around him if he was able to flick it on. It will all take time I suppose for the plan to emerge.

I agree about midfield creativity. Kris isn’t in the groove as yet and for the moment I have no idea if Tom Rogic can provide some.

I do worry about the Hooper situation as I wonder where the goals will come from if someone does ultimately submit a bid that we can’t ignore. Suppose we have to trust that somewhere there is a list that can be plugged into if that proves the case.

I agree with those who have commented that the League is simply a means to an end and its perhaps not surprising that league performances reflect that. It does tend to put pressure on fan’s interests and loyalties though and I only wish that the end were another playing environment on a regular basis. The thought of a return to “Old Firm” rivalry as something to look forward to is certainly not for me.

  23. I hope young Rogic stamps his authority on the midfield this year as I like what I see from him.

A more mobile Joe Ledley with goals in him.

I like Ledley too but for different reasons, Rogic will get forward more and has the legs to get up and down the park.

All down to how our coach develops him now.
