WHATEVER HAPPENED TO…DANIEL ARZANI?

DANIEL ARZANI was introduced to Celtic fans in August 2018 after the 19-year-old winger’s eye-catching performances for Australia in the World Cup Finals in Russia earlier that summer.

The exciting prospect signed a two-year loan deal from Manchester City – and then injury derailed his stay at Parkhead.

Arzani was given his debut by Brendan Rodgers in a 5-0 Premiership win over Dundee at Dens Park on October 31, but was carried off after suffering a torn ACL which ended his season.

RARE APPEARANCE…Daniel Arzani on his debut before he was injured against Dundee in October 2018.

Neil Lennon had taken over as manager by the time Arzani was ready to make his second appearance – this time in the Scottish Cup against Partick Thistle in January 2020. He came on as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win at Firhill and that brought down the curtain on his all-too-brief displays for the Hoops.

The following season he went on a temporary transfer to Dutch side Utrecht and that was followed by another loan switch to Danish outfit Aarhus. His next stop was at Lommel SK in the Belgian Second Division on loan.

Arzani then moved to Macarthur FC in A-League in his homeland and scored one goal in 19 appearances before switching to Melbourne Victory where he has been in fine form this season and pushing once again for international recognition.

Ironically, one of his main rival’s for a spot in Graham Arnold’s squad is current Hoops sar Marco Tilio.
