Don’t misunderstand this. At no point will I say Celtic could or would have done better than Inter Milan against PSG. We have played as badly as Inter many times. However, Celtic have played better during the season just ended and, on their day, could outperform at Inter side on a poor day. [As I said, don’t misunderstand..]
It was fascinating to see an elite side on football’s greatest stage (it is, the World Cup winners are seldom as good as the Champions League winners), fail so often to play through the press, and fail to keep a defensive line. The Inter defensive line followed the classic ‘schoolboy error’ code.
Just as fascinating was how manager Simone Inzaghi was unable to change a pattern of play which was established in the opening two minutes of the game. This is a manager with nine years Serie A experience, who has won everything in Italy and now reached two CL finals.
My biggest takeaway from the final is that every successful side needs to be able to perform two ways: with the ball against a packed defence, and without the ball as a packed defence.
Whatever happened to La Grande Inter? They were known for their ‘Catenaccio’, defensive playing style. In truth, they were also a devastatingly good attacking side. Without their attacking abilities, we would never have heard of them. This Inter side can counter exceptionally well, but they have no door bolt.

Monday so soon. Back on top.
Public sale starts tomorrow for Newcastle game.
Boom
Aipple “Public sale starts tomorrow for Newcastle game.”
What do you think you’ll need to sell in order to be able to afford a ticket for the Newcastle game?
I’m afraid the CL final was too one sided, although there were some terrific goals!
There was no need to increase the ST’S this year eith the amount of surplus in the account moreover asking £25 for a game that used to be free on your ST………

I’m selling a meeting with you, thought we agreed on that?
Ticket purchased for the Newcastle game.
Celtic bank balance hits three figures.
£39.5M in UEFA prize money from our progressive run in the Champions League (higher than the (£38.9m) picked up by Tottenham Hotspur), even though they won the Europa. Sure there will be costs but there are also gate receipts, to be added to that.
Unique times for Celtic supporters as direct debits (started last Friday) ST renewal cash, windfall cash from years ago, Adidas elite status extended etc etc. Celtic just get bigger and bigger, since an astonishing warp speed leap, which coincided with an event in 2012.
No wonder SMSM are furiously trying to big up a Sevco takeover.

Did our Polish centre back just become prime minister in Poland?
I see the bhoy Nawrocki has used his down time at Celtic to good effect, winning the Polish Presidential last night election for starters.

Don’t expect too much on his stint with us, it’s given mere seconds.
Tho Ange talks in it about regularly changing his style (ie he’s more than Angeball) I dont think he changed it well enuff for us at the same level Brendan has with our recent commendable Euro run.
However, the big man’s an appealing character.
PS; My chances of signing for us in transfer window are torpedoed after todays Ultrasound showed an athletic pubalgia – ‘sports hernia’ – which will likely end my season and require a procedural op.

All the best with that!
Probably a case of an old team running out of steam. Inter’s form has dropped markedly in the last couple of months, they’ve had a very long hard season battling for serie a, the cup and the champions league. They lost serie a last weekend to a team that had no European football.
Their midfield which averaged 32 never got near PSG all night , Acerbi looked every day of his 37 years
PSG have spent €840 on 24 players over the last 3 seasons, one 27 year old, two 26 and a 25 year old. The rest were 24 and under, most early twenties or younger.
Man of the match was 19 year old Doué, signed in the Summer.
Dog walk then off to work.

Cheers Aipple; it will be my second hernia op – last one around 15 yrs back !
I see Der Hun is streaking into a commanding lead in the ‘After The Season Has Ended’ Cup !!
I think that you all misunderstand, it’s The Kieran Tierney Homecoming Match, that tickets are on sale for….a training session with 10 subs each side
Harsh Paul.
Catenaccio is just as much a psychological concept as it is tactical or tangible.
“Your armada of beautifully crafted and decorated ships (attacks) will falter and sink time and again on the rocks and vicious tides of our defence .. to such an extent that each attack will have less belief and verve than the previous one”.
Problem for Inter on Saturday night?
Luis Enrique brought the world’s biggest rock hammer along with his collection of palettes and water colours.
And crushed Inter psychologically in the first 15 minutes.
After that it was all down to geometry and physics.
Your old guys have to cover 7,140 square metres.
My guys can run with the ball at speed and change the angle of attack at speed.
My young guys are faster than your old guys.
!!BADA BING!! re: The Kieran Tierney Homecoming Match
I hear you. Any chance I get to go to Celtic Park these days is special for me. Training session or not.
KT being back will add a little something.
Inter had a couple of half chances at two nil but once the third went in they chucked it. Unfortunately for them they weren’t playing another Italian team who would also have chucked it at that point .
As one sided a final as you could get at that level.
I might be in a minority if one here, but I never viewed the pre season game as being “free” on my season book.
My attitude was that I was being forced to pay for a game in which I had no real interest played between two unfit teams for which I would not normally buy a ticket.
I wouldn’t be buying a ticket for this game and am glad it is not on my ticket.
I’m happy with a 19 game season ticket and make decisions about other games as I see fit.
KING IS TROLLING THEM NOW.

“These are not some supporter that’s coming in because the jacket, tie and brown brogues are important to them.
“They see Rangers as a great business opportunity and quite frankly, it is.
“But it was never going to be one as long as it remained a parochial cap-in-hand set-up. It can’t be, ‘Oh we need a couple of million quid so let’s go around the directors and get a loan’.
Re this pre-season game phenomenon, this daft big Welsh lad at my fitba club (A Man U fan) asked if I was keen to go see Wrexham play in their Aussie friendly.
Why the fugg would I go to watch a just-promoted English 3rd divi runner-up side on a summer jolly, I said.
I think it’s a bit of a false narrative, the whole counter attacking thing with Inter. Probably because we’ve only really noticed them against Barca and PSG who are the most possession based teams in the big leagues but Inter have more possession than anyone else other team in Italy and they concede a pretty average anoint of goals for a team challenging for the title
Afternoon all.

TBH I can’t recall attending a friendly anyway, they don’t interest me. However I would always give them away if I could, a lot of none ST holders glad of the chance to see Celtic, even if they are unfit or not first team choices!
PSG team looked better prepared and were on the front foot. It looked to me like Inter were out thought and before they woke up were 2-0 down. Game management by PSG was excellent
Good afternoon all from Paedar O’Donnells, Derry City.

Is that just up from the Termon Bar? Dungloe bar?

I just didn’t see any great individual talent in the Inter side….and what a disaster their strip was. I don’t like any yellow on a top
Le Grande inter 2025 met same date as Celtic 1970,They thought they would win it after the semi, thought semi was real final, wrong wrong and wrong again
Well done psg,great football
HH
To be fair, Ross County on a good day could beat us on a bad one. And Aberdeen just did.
It looked to me as if Inter hadn’t prepared for that game . It looked like they had no idea as to how PSG would play . Baffling.
PSG v Barca would have been a much better final as a spectacle IMO although I think PSG would still have won .
