When an asset becomes a daunting liability

1665

With Ukio Bankas bankrupt there is an acceptance that Hearts, who owe the bank in the region of £15m, will go into administration shortly after the end of the season.  This might not be the case.

Hearts major problem is their major asset, Tynecastle Stadium, which occupies a valuable patch of land in Edinburgh.  If administrators acting on behalf of Ukio have free access to the stadium they may shut it and look to recoup their loans by selling the land.  There is a possibility Hearts could be a football club without a stadium, but that does not necessarily mean they will go into administration.  Without a stadium to use the club would be liquidated but there is a possibility they would be able ground-share.

Hearts tested the land value before the property crash and received an offer of £22m from a house builder.

Alternatively the bank’s administrators could use their considerable influence over how the club is managed to sell their shares or come to some other arrangement (Ticketus, anyone?). When the major creditor has this much control of the company without administration, going through the formal process could actually harm their chances of getting their money back.

Try not to get too upset about it. OG delivers on a regular basis with ‘bad news for Sevco’ stories. He has nothing to prove on that score.

Can you tell me that he has broke? Anybody can be wise after the evebt, which seems to be OG’s case. His scopp had nothing to do with Whytey but not it has…..Kepp reading lads…too early to tell, Wish I could let you in on it. blah blah blah

  7. I wonder will Luis Suarez be perusing his opponents team sheet this weekend to see who’s on the menu?

Nice to see Benfica make the Europa final which is testament to the quality of the teams which Celtic had to face in their Champions League group. I must say I’ve enjoyed watching some of the games in the Europa League – no mugs in this tournament. Hope they beat Chelsea in the final although I like Rafa.

Yes I was indeed, I was so led astray by TBJ and PF I ended up in a terrible state culminating in photographs being placed on Facebook of me singing heartily whilst standing on the crushed velvet chairs of Bar 67

Abiding memory of MWD coming out the toilet facilities seeing me up there and howling with laughter.

Great day, great night, met some really cracking people and HT was there too.

He’s tipped people off on here several times before the news has broke. Not intricate details, but that is probably down to his job.

I can’t understand why you are getting so uptight about it.

    In answer to your earlier query;

I’d say we have a hardcore of 30k SB holders, give or take 2 or 3k.

The peak was about 12 years ago when we had over 50k. The only way to up this number would be by playing in the EPL or maybe a European League, and then there would be a limit on sales with a waiting list.

Its true to say that PL is trying to head off a shortfall which he knows is down to the league being a formality. I think at least half of the 10-15k who are swithering will renew, either out of loyalty or the fact that they can take 2 kids with them virtually free.

Those same kids (groups under 16) will possibly add up to 5k new holders.

So when you add it up 40k is very achievable. I dont want to mention them, but just to say that I’d rather our crowds were well down by their absense, than be up to 60k every fortnight with a corrupt club in the league. We have to get used to the idea of life without the huns. I’m personally loving it and Monday night was a reminder of what they’re all about. Long may it last.

    Just my opinion of course.

  11. There’s no way The Rangers’ license will be taken away. It would be as good as admitting that they should never have had one in the first place.

And they would have to remove the new club’s one and only division championship win. That’s Lee McCulloch’s proudest achievement in football too – he would be very upset if it went.

  12. Just performed a Credit Check on Rangers International Football Club plc.

Result? Advised Credit Limit of £1,000.

For a comparison I thought I’d check Albion Rovers Football Club.

Result? Advised Credit Limit of £25,000

    Afternoon CQNrs

From a rainy grey overcast Friday morning in Glasgow north.

Its been a bit of a week for the Cellic and I was so pleased for the youngsters this week and their achievements. The under 20s did us proud and it was a delight to read some of the comments on their performance. My heart goes out to those who played on Monday night and having to put up with such poor circumstances in playing in a Cup Final, some no doubt will come out stronger from their experience and I hope that the others are not put off the game by that same experience.

Last weekend I had the privilege to attend a Gala dance for the Wayside Club, an organisation that supports the homeless every evening of every week and has been doing so for over 80 years. The work they do is simply great and a big thank you to those who organised and supported the event. The club relies on donations for finance and no other source other than this, so the donations from many are thankfully received, amongst the small group of organisers was Tom Boyd, the faither, so a big thanks to him and the Celtic family.

I’m confident OG can defend himself on here. He has been accurate with his timings on several occasions and is a decent poster as far as I am concerned.

But rather than us getting bogged down in anything, you can always do what the rest of us do when we don’t wish to read posts by certain people.

Just scroll past. It’s a win win situation.

  32. Peter, If you say so, but no one on this Blog appeared to know anything until OG started giving hints which eventually proved to be correct.
