When exceptional becomes the norm

869

As this clean sheet run has continued, every time Fraser Forster has made a good save, I’ve found myself suggesting that the defence is not playing as tightly as it used to.  We quickly regard exceptional performance as the norm.

Fraser has, of course, been exceptional, again, this season.  Efe Ambrose and Virgil van Dijk are fast and commanding.  Virgil has a presence about him, like Wanyama, but bigger.  On the flanks, despite the lack of competition, Emilio Izaguirre is performing at his best, while Adam Matthews, Mikael Lustig and Darnell Fisher have shuffled through the right back position as availability dictates.

I have a notion that Scott Brown is also worth credit for the defensive performance.  He seems to have grown this season, perhaps as a consequence of fitness.  This is his best season yet.

Ultimately the game is all about tactics.  Any team can keep a clean sheet but 10-in-a-row (get used to reading that) is a consequence of team plan, which is where Neil Lennon comes in.

Tomorrow is the final day to confirm tickets for our CQteN St Patrick’s Day Dinner on 14 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  The dinner will raise funds to build a kitchen at Kholoni Primary School in Mchinji, Malawi, where 1200 kids currently attend without food facilities.  If you have lost your invoice email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com

See you there.

  10. Doc @ 15:47,

“Or is it just the SFA are stuck, they said, if Craigy is ant part of Sevco they wouldn’t allow them membership? Therefore membership withdrawal?

Well there is an anomaly with the application for the transfer of the SFA membership.

Now the SFA intimates that Charles Green made the application for the transfer.

The way it works means OLDco have to make the application.

So if it was Charles Green that applied either he did it on behalf of Sevco Scotland in which case the transfer is erroneous or he did it on behalf of Oldco.

Now he had Craig Whyte’s shares in The RFC PLC which made him their majority shareholder at the time, also he had an office at Ibrox and was working for The RFC PLC pro bono at the time.

So unless Craig Whyte wins his case to own a bit of Newco I don’t think he could lay claim to the SFA past or present Membership.

    Hail Hail

To add to this scandal, I understand that Celtic players have picked up cheap cars being returns form footballers in Glasgow with poor employment prospects.

In relation to sponsorship of Scottish Premiership haven’t had a sponsor for a good while since Clydesdale Bank gave them 18 months notice. In this climate one sponsor is unlikely to materialize, however they should take a leaf out of the GAA’s book & look at multiple sponsors that don’t clash, eg. so this year you have a Telecoms Company, Convenience Store Group, Airline & Insurance Company & contributing to the pot.

  13. Wow….someone asking sane questions on RM…see he has been totally ignored though…

Subject is selling superLee and Richard Wilson ( the decent and true Scottish journo according to these nutters ) where he is going in today’s Herald on about the nonsense of selling Wallace when player wages are less that 30% of turnover.

Evidently this chap does not believe wee Dicky….

Another load of Jack Irvine pish here I think.

In our annual accounts, approved by Deloitte’s, the first team wages are stated to be 43% of turnover,

Boca, Goian and Alexander have gone but nine new lads came in. I would guess their combined wages may net out with these high earners.

How the hell are we now to believe that wages are less than 30% of turnover.

Just to get the sums in perspective 43% of turnover was K£13363. To get to less than this mythical 30% the new first team wage total would need to be less than K£ 10008. I cannot believe we have taken M£ 3 off that tab.

( I’ve also remembered accounts were for 13 months to all calcs are 12/13’s of annual accounts.)

Hope I’m wrong, don’t think I am though.

  26. Doc @ 17:27,

He was accepted as a fit and proper person when he bought Oldco from SDM, they ignored or weren’t interested in his past misdemeanours then.

Since he has been banned sine die from Scottish Football.

If he did win the case he could not take up an official position with Newco, still he said he will take the SFA to court to prove his fit and properness.

So you are correct in that scenario…

It would prove that he was involved in Rangers despite Charles Greens assurances to the contrary – so the SFA Membership shouldn’t have been awarded.

He would have an official position in Newco contrary to the terms of his ban – therefore the Membership should be suspended.

If he goes to Court outside CAS he is breaching the terms of SFA Membership and Newco should be expelled.

So firstly he has to win the case…

If he does there will have to be firm and decisive rule changing and history writing.

    Hail Hail
