Chelsea are, frankly, amateurs at sacking bosses quickly. Long-running manager Liam Rosenior was emptied out yesterday, after being in charge for a period extending to 23 games, winning 11 – almost half! That’s almost three times longer than Wilfried Nancy got at Celtic. The London club should be congratulated at how long they give their managers.
The football world is sniggering at Chelsea right now as they bumble from one bad appointment to another. That was us earlier this year. Celtic were the game’s joke club, for plunging into an appointment which took the record books by storm. It was a mercy when Wilfried was eventually freed from his contract.
By its own statement (on the departure of Rodgers) and actions (sacking Nancy), the club’s last two permanent managerial appointments have been destructive. Based on Dermot Desmond’s words on Rodgers (which were fully merited), I could make the case that our former manager’s behaviour gave grounds for his dismissal months before he departed. Allowing him to remain in situ throughout the summer was another consequential mistake.
Do you think Chelsea will get their next appointment right? What about Celtic? Chelsea are cursed to recruit a prestigious name next, as an earnest coach was unable to carry a dressing room with so many sophisticated challenges. Our job is easier. Just get me a great coach, who works with our football identity and does not have a personality disorder. Fix the damage done to recruitment (perhaps a more difficult job) and let’s build the great Celtic team.
James Forrest made fewer than 20 league appearances each of the three seasons before his last contract renewal in 2023. Handing him a three year deal then looked generous. He more than lived up to expectations and thoroughly deserves the one-year contract renewal, signed today.

aint that the truth
some might also say….
Nothing to do with Paul’s leader.

Link to this page on BBC Online is a quote
‘Departures are inevitable this summer’
.. alongside an image of Eddie Howe
Go into the article and what do you find?
The ‘quote’ is from the reporter, Ciaran Kelly !
Breathtakingly arrogant and disingenuous.
An Ange type then Paul?
Or a young Ange?
Which reminds me of the brilliant summary of an actor’s career path … penned during Hollywood’s so-called Golden Age
.. using Hugh O’Brian as an example.
Which I’ll borrow for football managers.
5 stages of a manager’s career
1. Who is Ange Postecoglou?
2. Get me Ange Postecoglou
3. Get me an Ange Postecoglou type
4. Get me a young Ange Postecoglou
5. Who is Ange Postecoglou?
Happy for James.
A well done to the board who ‘quickly’ sacked Nancy after hiring him.
Circling . . . . ..circling. . . .. . circling. . . . .
defo not only trump…
Personality disorder?
Dearie me.
BRRB
Don’t be jealous that I know my days of the week.
🤣🤣
Last Sunday demonstrated that James Forrest is still head and shoulders above what we have as an alternative.
Subsequently i am onboard with a one year extension.
However it is a sad reflection on our ” recruitment and current status.
HH.
As long as it’s somebody who will maintain a competitive old firm not much else really matters I suppose.
“Fix the damage done to recruitment (perhaps a more difficult job) and let’s build the great Celtic team.”…………………. which after one year will be promptly dismantled by the “Bonus Brigade”, hacking the manager, who ever it is, off to the point where he’ll chuck it and we’ll be back to square one.
The cyclical motion of our self destruction is clear to see: we get so far, only to knock out our own foundations, and then wonder why the team looks disjointed.

Wilfried Nancy’s biggest fan has a pop at other clubs recruitment. Beyond parody.
For personality disorder, read ambition. Don’t have too much if you want the job. Can’t be getting too far ahead of our friends across the city…..

General awareness,
The G40 development between Dalriada Street and London Rd.
I seen some vegetation cleared and some access to the site has been made. I would assume for surveys. If you are passing look at the wall with Palestine flag mural.
Not yet at prelimenary works yet, full planning is not yet in place, these things can be done in sequences.
Just an observation, the design itself , generic boxy venue with a 940 capacity, a big hall, with a high ceiling and a stage, and a long bar. but imho it is a great use of the plot. It doesnt go onto the old railway length and instead is set back a little, and in that Kinloch Street corner.
It should be noted, there are only two plots bordering Celtic Park that are not owned by Celtic plc, those being Cardowen Creamery on Holywell Street (why we have never explored use of this area on match days is beyond me, maybe we did and got turned down) and the area beyond Dalriada Street, currently fenced off. and overgrown.
Pondering the business case, Lets assume Celtic games are 20-25 days a year. That will drive revenues, but how do you get customers the rest of the time ?
The early arrival busses, till now, they go to the Kerrydale or the Celtic club, maybe this becomes the preferred destination. I did also think though, come the Glasgow derby, and closing london road, this area is surely going to be problematic, before and after.
There will be a new set of housing blocks across the street , the plot east of the Emirates, and that Parkead/Dalmarnock/Barrowfield area has been repopulated some. So maybe Celtic minded people will use it for family occasions, its a big gamble.
I passed the EddieMunster house the day after our game at the badgers hovel. It was deserted.
I note also the investment for this is reported as £3m, I think that is under called.
But for sure, as it goes ahead, it will be used to highlight, again, our boards lack of ambition, lack of planning, and a lack of business savvy to actually invest to get a return on investment.
Anyways, it is a distraction to follow.

Rodgers again……seriously?
a throwback to another era, but did Donegal Danny write that header today.
dearie me.
what they going to do if Brendan turns up at Chelsea with unfinished business.
“Allowing him to remain in situ throughout the summer was another consequential mistake”.
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
It still gets my goat. Given his previous he should have been shown the door as soon as the words “I’m not a maintenance man” came out his mouth.
Poor, poor management. It’s a consequential mistake that will take years to fix.
Brendan Rodgers LIVE UPDATES
The obsession with the former extremely successful manager is now getting silly.
No focus at all on
The absentee landlord and his cronies?
It’s all Brendan and the fans fault……Ridiculous.
He’s the mouthpiece for Lawwell who is clearly continuing his feud with BR that was so disastrous for Celtic. It’s more than tiresome.
Another belter from Comical Quick News
I wonder if he sits watching Skysports’s news for stories he can twist into another Rodgers hate piece
Based on Dermot Desmond’s words on Rodgers (which were fully merited), I could make the case that our former manager’s behaviour gave grounds for his dismissal months before he departed.
—————
which “behaviours” merited “dismissal” ?
which employment contractual condition did he breach ?
Anyway, “Just get me a great coach, who works with our football identity and does not have a personality disorder”.
We’ve already appointed a manager.
Didn’t you know?
Hopefully he fits your description.
Just get me a great coach, who works with our football identity
————-
the mythical “football identify”.
a lot of self-indulgent made up pish to justify a persons opinion of being a celtic supporter.
we had the 3rd highest scoring team with our best ever league goal difference, and it wasnt enough for the “identity” nonsense supporter. who hated keeping the ball, possession football then scoring goals.
what have we got now ? what is our identify now ?

100%
Although I’m surprised the former manager has remained silent about the character assassination by Desmond….
With so much paranoia about Brendan on here,I wonder if someone has got wind of him about to defend himself?
Everyone has a personality and personality traits that determine how we think and act, so never think it only applies some in society. MR 67 you are venturing into a dark place with this insinuation.
James Forrest signs new deal
The skinny from this opus is that DDs statement was destructive yet merited. A copy job as Karolina Leavitts speechwriter awaits.
As for our fitba identity – we know we’re trading on the glories of 1967 and 2003; tbh, that’s sniggerable material to the rest of the fitba world.

It used to be worth the painstaking effort to get past the blizzard of ads to read the editorials on here. Those days are long gone as they are now as excruciating to read as they are to access. Only the comments of many make it sufferable.
I’m wondering what the personality disorder is.
Wanting 4 players with pace and power? Continuous improvement domestically and in Europe?
Yes, I can certainly see why Despot Desmond & Co would see that as a personality disorder!
You’ve joined disreputable company Paul and it’s so sad to see.
As Kev is fond of saying:
Sad are the homes….
Enjoyable article Paul … Just finished my 3rd reading.
Couple of points spring to (my) mind.
Brendan might not be a bad outside shout for Chelsea.
He’s worked there before. Tick
They need a quick bounce. His speciality.
The dressing room needs to calm down a bit. He’s good at that.
They’ve got more registered players than your average NFL team … so can tell him there’s yir dinner (when the dinner isn’t that bad at all)
Polite observation Paul … over and above. “just let it go man”
If
“Based on Dermot Desmond’s words on Rodgers (which were fully merited)”
Instead said
“Based on Dermot Desmond’s words on Rodgers (some of which had some merit)”
… that, IMHO, would be a more moderate interpretation … and would help the old reconciliation thing along a tiny bit.
Both sides stopping talk of Brendan full stop would help more perhaps.
Some boils are better left alone to heal themselves rather than lancing.
If Paul wants to have a little rant every now and then its cool with me after all its his blog and I suspect he know a little more about the machinations behind the scenes then most of us . My enjoyment of CQN over the years far outweighs any negatives . 6 games left we have one job right now and that is loud vociferous unconditional support of Martin and the Team . After which w
e have a long summer ahead to sort out next season .
As a wiser man than I might be paraphrased…
“…It Is No Measure of Mental Health To Be Well-Adjusted to a Profoundly Sick Cabal”
Hail Hail
The logical implication of James Forrest getting a new contract is that this has been requested/approved by next year’s manager, which seems to support claims on here yesterday that this decision has been made. Does that make sense?
