When the wealthy borrow from the poor

1829

Sell fans a ticket, you owe them a game of football.  Whether the standard or result it good or bad, it’s a relatively easy commitment to keep.  That’s what fans get in return for spending money on a ticket.

Sell people shares, you owe them a share certificate.  That’s what shareholders get in return for coughing up for shares.

Borrow money from fans and you owe them much more than a game of football or a share certificate.  In many instances that money will have come from people who had to forgo things to provide you with the loan.  You owe them a duty of care that their loan will be repaid, or converted with their agreement.

It beggars belief that an unsecured loan has been offered to Rangers International by fans group, Rangers First.  If, as claimed, the obligations to Sports Direct have been met, the club will have both the ability and the incentive to pass the securities previously held by Sports Direct to the fans group.  The club’s IP, training ground and ancillary assets should now be unencumbered, who better to have security over these critical parts of the club than a fans group?

Unless, of course, the obligations to Sports Direct have not been met.  Or someone else has their eye on the assets.

The claim that Dave King would match Rangers First’s loan took me by surprise.  This was counter to everything I knew and expected of him.  His swift denial was more consistent with expectations.

There is an axiom in football: Any club who has enriched a PR individual to the tune of £500k in the last year is making a serious attempt to divert it’s fans attention.  Celtic’s PR machine deals with the efficient communication of football information and financial reports.  Nothing whatsoever is spend attempting to lead the news agenda.  This often leaves us on the receiving end of that agenda, but we have nothing to hide.  Which is the way it should be.

Few sights in business or football can be more alarming than when purportedly wealthy people borrow money from poorer people.  The warning signs are writ as tall as the Ibrox stands.  This time there is no hidden Ticketus deal people can claim they didn’t know about.

Agree to an extent but they have spent 250m on crap and whilst I agree RD is under pressure there is a media attack against the manure manager akin to the crap we have in Scotland

It’s all about a win tomorrow, actually I would be happy to be still in the cup after the game. These type of games always have the banana skin potential. That’s the beauty of the cup

Tactical genius by McInnes, get yer team knocked out of all cups early so you can focus on winning the league. Surely shortbread and Snydes MOTY already.

  5. Thebarcamole.

I have sent Debbie a text telling Happy Birthday from F from The Philippines.

Loved your Cologne story especially the community payback order bit. I can relate to that. How are you Butsybhoy?

Eddie phoned me fromThe Cavendish in between Christmas and New Year, Mags had put You spin me round by Dead or Alive on the dukebox and he wanted me to hear it. He told me Pete Burns was the man. The usual Nitshill madness.

You are also correct about P.F. another gem taking far too early. He used to call me and Billy an auld married couple because we argued about everything Celtic. .

B.T. Although I don’t know you personally sometimes I feel I do that was a very respectful post. CQN would be a much better place if we had more of that.

Exiled Tim, the part of the office I work in has a number of sevco season ticket holders . I overheard two of them rejoicing in United’s plight this season and it was what they deserved for the hatred shown to them by Stephen Thompson. I wouldn’t say standing up to them was a sign of hatred . However, their statement about Thompson’s hatred of them summed up their mentality.

I wonder who our ref will be tomorrow and what action he will take against any over enthusiastic tackles on our players.

Beaton today booked Reynolds early for less than what some of our players endured in the Killie and Thistle games .

A professional performance by our tem tomorrow, Scott Allan to start an Aiden Nesbitt at least on the bench.

Ciftci is suspended tomorrow due his yellow’s in last season’s Scottish Cup.

Jimmynotpaul, I was told yesterday about the two clubs.

Lee’s dad is right but I think Lee was correct to knock back the thirty month contract.

It would be good if whatever club he goes to, he makes a good impression and his career blossoms.

A few pals of mine sons know Lee from school and were impressed with his ability.

When we get together, will make sure to introduce you to the South Lanarkshire Massive, and there will be a wee surprise in store as one of the old/young ‘Team’ is out that way and is now a good pal of BT, also another behind the bar in KoSC…….. Interpreters are needed you know and that’s just for Butsy…….

MARSPAPA should be in attendance too, just in case things get too jolly -:)……..Only joshing B my pal….

    Again T, HB to Debbie………

Before I go T, biggest drawback in coming back is that invariably, I am at Saint Robert’s for yet another sad farewell…….

Was in bits at PF’s cheerio as I am sure you know we were family in so many ways. Seeing all the old faces and crowds and crowds of mourners it was a sore wan……..

Anyway, we’ll remember the good times together for sure soon enough pal.

    Blantyre , aaaaaaargh.

He is nearly as bad as his dad.

Something stinks that the fourth official at the 2012 Junior cup final can now be reffing senior games and be on the SFA’s ref list for Uefa / Fifa , now.

His dad still has an influence on our refs despite having no official capacity.

He was one of the officials at the Caley semi last season, did a Premier league game the day before and the Hibs v Livi game the following Tuesday. He was probably paid over a grand in total over four days. Easy money for him , nothing to do with his name of course.

    Ryan Tierney at Accies

What do you know about him?

  16. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Gearoid, the Dallas name should bebremoved from any position of influence. His malign influence and that of the Lanarkshire refs association has led to some of the worst, not in Davidson , Gordon or Wharton class, match officials we have seen.

Kerrigan book is well researched, he used the military history archives and took most of the story from statements made by participants, it’s a great resource and all available online. In the 1940s ( I think) it was set up to keep records of those on active service from 1916 to 1922, people were encouraged to speak openly and frankly about their activities on the promise none of the archive would be released until all participants had died. It was released recently and makes for fascinating reading. I would recommend any cqn er to log on and have a look

  18. Coming soon to Sundance TV…

    REBELLION

In honor of the 100th anniversary of when the Easter Uprising began on Apr. 24, 1916, SundanceTV will premiere Irish drama REBELLION as a special three-night miniseries event beginning Sun., Apr. 24 through Tue., Apr. 26 at 9/8c. The five-part miniseries charts the birth of modern Ireland during one of the most tumultuous and dangerous periods in history.

REBELLION begins with the outbreak of World War I. As expectations of a short and glorious campaign are dashed, social stability is eroded, and Irish nationalism comes to the fore. The tumultuous events that follow are seen through the eyes of three young women and their families, lovers and friends from Belfast, Dublin and London as they play vital and conflicting roles in the narrative of Ireland’s independence. Some prioritize family loyalties; some are motivated by the noblest of ideals, some by opportunism; others take up arms, prepared to sacrifice everything for the dream of a better society and true independence.

REBELLION is produced by Touchpaper Television and Zodiak Media Ireland for RTÉ, in co-production with SundanceTV, and is written by Colin Teevan (Silk, Vera), directed by Aku Louhimies (Frozen Land) and produced by Catherine Magee. The cast includes Brian Gleeson (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Bachelor Weekend), Charlie Murphy (Philomena), Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones), Ruth Bradley (Humans, Best Actress IFTA for Grabbers) and Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful). The executive producers are Rob Pursey, Jane Gogan, Colin Teevan, David Crean and Clare Alan.

“REBELLION is a character-driven drama that follows three very different women and the role each one plays in the Easter Rising of 1916, a defining moment in Irish and British history,” said executive producer and writer Colin Teevan. “Stories about the struggle for Irish independence have typically been told from a male and Nationalist point-of-view, so we’re excited to explore this pivotal time from multiple and largely female perspectives. As can be seen from recent uprisings in the Middle East, women are often the first to the barricades to demand change, but also the first to be banished back to their homes and to the footnotes of history once their cause has been successful. We’re so proud that REBELLION will be seen on SundanceTV, the home of many captivating and original international stories, and we feel certain that audiences will relate to each of our heroines, who are simultaneously flawed yet inspiring, guileful yet honest, and foolhardy yet brave.”

Blantyre , Ryan Tierney was , the Accies player, I know hee haw about other than he was injured playing against our developement team the other day and some of thought it was Kieran Tierney , thankfully it wasn’t.

Preferrably Kieran doesn’t play tomorrow and Izzy plays. Kieran , despite being potentially our young player and player of the season, should be given a break and not played every game while , physically , he is still developing.

The barcamole, I met up with P.F. in The Pines a few months before the end. He spoke highly of his holidays in Dubai with you, it was genuinely one of the things that he was going on about, so he clearly had plenty of happy memories.

Dallas. I hope young Lee makes the correct choice and is not influenced too much by his agent/ or any peers, a lot going on behind the scenes there.

Like yourself continue to be amazed that someone who was sacked for sending sectarian emails can still get a gig at UEFA (UEFA of the respect and fair play campaign????) thereby continuing to exercise a degree of influence over our European refereeing appointments.

For anyone who thinks that some of the decisions that went against us were coincidental, I have De Lorean shares you might be interested in.

I watched the first episode of that Rebellion last week. Not bad, second episode tomorrow.

I am usually hyper critical of anything set in Dublin as I feel they never get the accents right or miss certain nuances that locals would appreciate but that’s a bit silly of me really. So far I was mainly impressed.

But the shooting starts tomorrow so let’s see

I found Davidson and Syme in particular to be no friends of Celtic but neither of them “enjoyed” a sending- off like this……

From the match report of Rangers (1872 or 73 to 2012) v Motherwell on 14 May 2005 :-

“A one-minute silence in memory of former referee Tom

Wharton was immaculately observed prior to kick-off.”

Blantyre, unfortunately my son doesn’t know him .

He knows Conor Scullion , one of Ryan’s team mates. They played in the same EKYC team for tnree years. Conor is a fine player and has a good football brain.

On the video celts site , the day of the developement game against Accies, your dad had made a good comment on how difficult it was for the second choice keeper to start for the first team in a game.
