After the adrenaline-fuelled dramas that a return to the Champions League after five long years provided, Celtic are off to Paisley on Sunday. There will be an inevitable drop-off in in energy levels, the players are not machines, after all, as we take on an opponent with more robust objective from the game.
While Celtic have four days to recover and prepare, St Mirren will be 15 days without a game when they take on the champions. During this period, they will have been able to do some endurance training and get plenty rest before what will be a committed 90 minutes’ effort. They will not be easy to overcome.
Whatever motivational chat Ange Postecoglou gives before a game, it cannot always have the same intensity. I expect he fully animated the players for the games against Real and Shakhtar, but words overused lose their affect. Can he really whip them up for St Mirren? I doubt it, in fact, I don’t even think he should.
Our baseline performance must be substantial enough to pick the points in Paisley. The next big emotional effort is three weeks away, save the inspiration for then. One more push before the break.

We have a big squad of very talented and expertly coached players. I’m sure they’ll whip themselves for another great performance on Sunday. For most of the game on Wednesday, we were excellent. I’m sorry that much of the talk after it centred on the banners etc. I hope there isn’t a repeat on Sunday, but expect there will be. If you want to take a banner, take it somewhere else. Support the team, first and foremost.

When there is massive demand for away tickets can someone please explain the logic in the same people who go to away games being continually prioritised over others who want to go ?

There was a strong and to some offensive message on the British Crown at the mid week game, what exactly are Celtic supposed to do? There was no threat of violence or hatred or racism or anything like it on the banner. Why would our major club sponsors what to sanction Celtic? Hating a feudal monarchy? It’s 2022 not 1522.

They would definitely seek to minimise damage by association. When the first world is falling over itself to share in getting their grief levels right we are not just disengaging at a sensitive time ( in my opinion a reasonable and pragmatic course of action ) but Celtic as a club ( as portrayed by its fan ) are, to most observers, displaying a crass and blatant lack of basic decency.

The Fagan banner was obviously the work of an immature teen.

Me and my Mrs were in America were on a boat trip in the USA a long time ago and got chatting to some Americans. When they heard where we were from (the start of the conversation naturally) they got very serious and said how sorry they were for the loss of our Princess. We thought it was strange as Diana had died about 5 years before but they told us it was Margaret who’d died a week before. They were a bit shocked at our reaction.
I like Americans for that sort of straightforwardness

If the club wanted to stop individuals singng certain songs at the away grounds they could do it immediately.
CCTV footage at grounds now is state of the art.
Every individual who sits at each seat can be scanned.
People who sing the songs will be easy to spot, with their designated seat,
As soon as, say, 50 are notified and banned, the message will soon get through.
The club could do it easily.
The club could notify of their intention to do this to each individual if they don’t stop.
A bit like pyro, for some brain donors in our support, they think they are the club.
Once the individuals get the message it will stop.

Maybe you are getting whatever sad pleasure you get in life ( oxymoron intended ) by seeing an otherwise fantastic season for Celtic hitting a wee bump on the road.
Facts are we are enjoying great Celtic times and these issues will resolve themselves over the coming months.
I will enjoy going to Germany and Spain and maybe a few more by a route which suits me. You can enjoy the misery Celtic being successful gives you.
My personal seats at Celtic section 414 upper LL row V and W are just fine thanks. Even at my old age I manage to climb up there each game !
