When to whip and when to not

454

After the adrenaline-fuelled dramas that a return to the Champions League after five long years provided, Celtic are off to Paisley on Sunday.  There will be an inevitable drop-off in in energy levels, the players are not machines, after all, as we take on an opponent with more robust objective from the game.

While Celtic have four days to recover and prepare, St Mirren will be 15 days without a game when they take on the champions.  During this period, they will have been able to do some endurance training and get plenty rest before what will be a committed 90 minutes’ effort.  They will not be easy to overcome.

Whatever motivational chat Ange Postecoglou gives before a game, it cannot always have the same intensity.  I expect he fully animated the players for the games against Real and Shakhtar, but words overused lose their affect.  Can he really whip them up for St Mirren?  I doubt it, in fact, I don’t even think he should.

Our baseline performance must be substantial enough to pick the points in Paisley.  The next big emotional effort is three weeks away, save the inspiration for then.  One more push before the break.

Sionnaigh – thank you for response.

    Genuinely appreciate it.

Can I share a secret with you (but you have to promise not to tell anyone) ?

Once upon a time …. I was an ignorant, misguided young man. IMHO.. collective, collaborative solution lies within us all. (the “how” is more complex than the simple statement above of course).

    ‐‐—————————————–

Me too. There was a war on in North Ireland at the time, which focused the youthful mind to no ends.

This rebellion we’re now witnessing by the youth in our support has no such recourse.

One thing that’s not two, this episode will blow over alright. Outcome? How low will they sink next time.

I take back “scum”, that was inappropriate, like the banner.

From an absolutely rain lashed Melbourne peninsula, hope

Good man, I know your love for the club means you want to protect

the good name of Celtic, but obviously some feelings run deeper in

It takes a big man to admit he was wrong in his terminology, kudos.

Can’t wait for our big day tomorrow, really need to hear our music

maestro sing about “ Dublin in the rare old times “

Funny how a song gets to you, I probably equate it to the first time

I heard “ Dirty old town “ but then again the greatest Celt ever was

    singing it. 🥰

Let’s not get distracted to great start to the season as that’s what our enemy’s want. Divide and conquer.

There will be other shite after we thump St Midden tomorrow. All cameras will be on our support to see who is clapping etc. Distraction and Scottish Main Stream Media bollox.

The cost of living crisis will worsen as the pound slides to its lowest against US dollar for 37 years. Why? Oil is sold in dollars so becomes more expensive. Many imported goods become more expensive as container shipping is priced in dollars. More in FT.

    Thanks for the news update.

I’ve actually given up watching the ‘news’ this week. Hopefully there’s no heavy handed policing tomorrow. Saw that Jeremy character talking to Michael Kelly (🙁) demanding the club condemn the support. While I didn’t want any banners etc. that is something the club should definitely not do. I doubt they will. I expect the usual several goals tomorrow.

Don’t hold your breath. Ange was asked three questions by same stenographer yesterday, on our fans’ behaviour.

  15. Things you won’t read in the msm

Celtic start to the league this season is better than any in its history after 6 league games …..on goal difference.

Defeat today would equal the old rangers records of 4 consecutive defeats. Which is why Aberdeen game being cancelled let them off the hook somewhat. However should it happen with Hearts and Liverpool the next 2 fixtures it would immortalize GVB squad …… not in a good way.

Not scoring today would take them to within 1 game of the old co record for not scoring in successive games.

0-11 is already worse than any 3 game run of results in the old co history.

Also …. the media seem to avoid …

“Celtic have now went over a year unbeaten domestically”

Rangers couldn’t have picked a better team to get their self esteem back on track with a barrow full of goals and stands of staunchness to get them there

No doubt they’ll be going for 10 just to beat those damn fenians score…..

That would be the crown wouldn’t it? So if you want to protest about all that perhaps you would hold up a banner telling them to go F*** themselves?
