Where is the immigrant community protection, Nicola?

328

Police Scotland have spoken to business owners they think vulnerable to a Newco mob in Glasgow.  Consequently, the Celtic Shop in Argyle St will close tomorrow; police are unable to offer sufficient security to staff or customers.  Other bars and retail premises with links to immigrant communities will also close for the day.

Newco issued a statement asking, “If possible, please celebrate within your own community.”  If possible?  The subtext is not subtle.

The First Minister could not wait to get on in front of a TV camera to talk about a Celtic trip in January, despite her government approving the trip.  But when it counts, when immigrant communities needs her protection, she looks the other way.  Her Cyber Army will not be exploiting this like they exploited another immigrant community this week.  You are being played.

It is like watching two rival gangster families.  They bully indiscriminately but have different rules of engagement for each other.  Celtic would never pull a “If possible” stoke, the £600k gangster knows this, so can grandstand about us.

People make Glasgow, apparently.  Exceptionalism, def.: The term carries the implication, whether or not specified, that the referent is superior in some way.  We are not exceptional, not in the slightest.  If you are in any doubt, reappraise yourself tomorrow.

  1. Back in the 1990’s we were playing Newcastle ( with Ginola in their line up…I think ?) in a Pre season friendly at Celtic Park one Saturday afternoon.

I was in a Pub called ” EASTENDERS” across the street/Gallowgate from Bairds Bar.

A crowd of Newcastle fans cam into Eastenders and I got chatting to a few.

They said that they had been in Bairds, but had left because of the IRA Songs. I tried to tell them a little bit of The history….and how its NOT unusual for some folk ASSUME that every Irish Folk Song is all about the IRA etc…

Anyway, we didnt chat long and I didnt reveal any secrets….LOL

I sadly know that feeling, mine now 28, 27 and 26!!!

And very annoyingly all significantly taller than me, three additional season ticket holders who like me are torn over renewing.

That was a good game and a beautiful day if I remember correctly, there was talk at the time of us signing Ginola.

The Celtic support never fail to amaze me, especially here in Oz, i suppose

we’re free of the rancid behaviour of the Bilious bigots and the freedom to

commit mayhem at will by the law system in Scotia.

It will be a blast, and when you see Celts from all over OZ coming together

for a club and an ethos thousands of miles away, well it gives my aul heart

    the shivers.

Still to decide whether to take my boots for the soccer game on the Saturday

which is a Melbourne select versus outer state select, if Paddy plays i play.

CELTIC eh ? not another club in the worlds supporters can pull this off, and

every year, just think about that.

Don’t know about you but if i was Eddie Howe i’d be feckin grateful for just

    being asked.

Sorry didnt get back to you quicker.

Yes its right on the border of the Glasgow(Yoker) and West Dunbartonshire (Clydebank) so a few years back you could leave the Lovat and head to the Cawder across the road which because it was in a different council with diferent licensing hours you could get a later pint.

In fact was the Newcastle game not the day the rebuilt stadium was opened? I’m sure Squire Danaher will put me in my place if I’ve got that wrong. I ended up in the main stand due to a ticket mix up in the Nth Stand, one of my crowd was given a ticket from Celtic for a seat that didn’t exist :-)

    That was chaotic day.

You set out the dilemma with any boycott better than I could.

Playing chicken with a double decker bus is the analogy that springs to mind.

The bus will keep on rolling & I’ll be mush in the middle of the road,

but at least I’ll still have my dignity.

Seriously, I too spent & still spend years unable to watch Celtic live & the prospect of now not watching them voluntarily vexes me, no matter the cause. I will buy Celtic TV & watch even if much of it is from behind lounge furniture. Through thick & thin has a new spin now – I’m thick to be so sentimental while my wallet is thin.

Interested to see that Manchester City are rearranging things to have a supporter on their board – in their case to avoid repeating the kind of mess over the Euro super league.

Could Celtic show that they too have learnt from their own mess this season & do the same?

I think Alan Shearer played in that game. He’s not my favourite pundit but he was some player.

Unfortunately, the lyrics relating to Shearer, in the Larsson song, were changed forever more from that day on.

  10. Strange so many pushing indy rhetoric as if Scotland will change overnight, into a tolerant, equality-minded heaven overnight, yet, evidence, repeatedly, over and over again as the most intolerant to anyone’s views different to their own to achieve it. And never, ever, see irony in that………

Yes I did venture into The Lovat 3 or 4 times on my way back from a Burds hoose in Dalmuir…if it was a nice day I would walk from Dalmuir to Yoker…I was reasonably fit back then.

  13. The fact any business has to close tomorrow or any other time because they know how they will behave is shocking.

If they had been policed properly before, dawn raided their fans like they do with our teenage support they would be fearful of repeated offences.

Every one of those in George Square will have had a phone on them. Police, if the wanted to could get codes off all of them…….

    Yes,

I am sorry you had that bad experience and how that can affect your opinion.

I really hope that maybe my 10 years gives a broader sample of typical behaviour there.

Are you not aware that the UK pension is one of the worst in Europe at the moment.

and yet you insist in posting anti Independence garbage without even having any Knowledge of the basic facts.

To-morrow the fans of a relatively new football club will probably go way over the top in celebrating their 1st trophy in 10 years and in so doing will make a complete nuisance of themselves. What’s New? Police Scotland always have worn kid gloves when dealing with the Ibrox mob even when they were a regional force no matter who the government were Under Westminster and also when they were supervised by Strathclyde Region which was dominated by Labour councillors. What the answer is I don’t know but I don’t think it would be any worse under Independence and maybe with a coalition government in an Independent Scotland more or less guarateed, it could be better.

More money lost to pubs that have invested heavily for their promised opening.

    This is what we endorsed.

    Utterly predictable.

  20. Sevco have issued just over 40K in new shares. A share issue of 40K ! My goodness they’re a basket case and we’ve handed them a very big life line this season should they make their way through the champions path in the summer.

Did the SNP’s sustainable growth commission not say that independence would involve 10 years of austerity?

That was before Brexit and before Covid. I doubt they’ll have made the picture any rosier.

And that’s what they were admitting to, so I think we can be forgiven for thinking it might actually be a lot worse than that.

But sure yeah the state pension will be fine. And if it isn’t? Tough. Too late, you’ll have voted for and there will be no going back.
