The players are back in town training and there’s’ already a bit of “where’s the signings” chat. We are five weeks away from the season starting, nine away from the first derby game and over eleven away from the start of the Champions League campaign. Patience is not always rewarded, but it is constantly needed.
Players available this early in the window are either out of contract, unwanted by their current club, or high risk. There is a time for Celtic to engage in all of the above, but if you were in charge, is this where you would want Celtic to shop?
Clubs selling a top talent want to test the market to the fullest. With one keen buyer on the hook, that means touting the player around hoping that a bigger fish is left short late in the window and bites at a higher price. They will also want backfill lined up.
If you are in charge and you know you are going to need to wait until late in the window for top talent, would you go down your list to ‘get the players in early’? How far down would you go?
If you are in the angry blogger business; Christmas comes in the early summer. The rest of us just need to wait for the tinsel.

Celtic won the double.
I’m still buzzing.
Belgium vs France reminded me of Cliff Thorburn vs Eddie Charlton.
When do Celtic play next?
Goodnight CQN
Friday at ayr. Opening the new stand
Good Morning Celts – Balmy Morning In The Chilterns…
Good article by Alex Gordon…
https://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/matt-oriley-20m-insult/
Southampton want to re-establish themselves as a Teir 1 Club at Celtic Glasgow’s expense…
The Celtic Executive must stick to their guns and keep Matt O’Riley at Celtic Park next season, we need him for the UCL and the treble and Matt needs us to develop into the great footballer we know he can be.

“They appear to have an intelligent manager in charge”
————-
“i see only the big baldy angry belgian who tells lies everytime celtic beat his team.
he will be sacked before the copland road stand is finished”
The next manager will be sacked before the Copeland Rd stand is finished!!! :))) por cierto.
SAINT STIVS @ 6:49 AM,
Spurs offered the Manager’s job to Brendan Rodgers (April/May 2023).
Brendan Rodgers was looking to have sometime out of the game – he was also contracted to Leicester City until the end of June 2023.
He had a release clause of millions that had to be paid if he signed for anyone before his contract with Leicester City finished.
Brendan Rodgers asked Spurs…
a) If they’d wait until the end of June
b) if not would they pay the release clause.
Daniel Levy who had already been knocked back a few times by Brendan, said…
a) Brendan had to accept the job straight away
b) had to pay the release clause himself
Brendan Rodgers said no, although Chris Davies was keen to go to Spurs…
Spurs ended up going for Ange Postecoglou who was Scott Munn’s (Tottenham’s Chief Football Officer) preferred choice.
Brendan Rodgers went to Celtic.
Even you don’t know everything St Stivs;)
Hail Hail
Hail Hail

The story about BR is relevant, how?.
O’ Shea allegedly we are interested.A Right Footed CH.H,mmm.£7 million being mentioned.
No great knowledge of O’ Shea, maybe WITS can shed some light.
Good morning all from Blackpool. Better put extra glue on my wig, blowing a hooly out there.
The new article will be up at noon.
of course it will Paul,
of course it will.
What would we be expected to pay for O’Shea?
Back to
Think Burnley paid around £7m last year
Back to
He signed on a 4 year deal – but Burnley has been relegated and probably need to sell some players and reduce the wage bill. Although they do have the parachute payment which dwarfs our media earnings.
Good morning from a lovely sunny Tuscany. A quick swim in the pool and off to get the shopping in before the kids and their partners arrive tonight.
It’s a very different perspective on the Euros here vs in Scotland. Certainly the papers see it that way. It’s a rebuild for the azzuri. Hard to believe 2 weeks ago we were enjoying going toe to toe with the Swiss in cologne and having great banter. Now they are our best hope of stopping Engerland !
So we can expect the year end accounts to be out before 12
Glad to hear that Burnley. Just so you feel better, it’s 15 degrees here in East Kilbride, 100% cloudy and was raining until about 10 minutes ago. But you just enjoy yourself and your good weather.
I blame the Tories myself but that might mean glorious weather is on the way here after Thursday – or maybe not!
Then again, a couple of top signings would do the business as well.
Ave Ave
Blistering hot here.Temperature at my pool reading 40,and that’s in the shade.A few bad forest fires at the weekend.Planes,Helicopters, hundreds of firefighters managed to get it under control last night.Scary scenes. Fires on the far edge of Kusadasi
Burnley’s bid for survival in the Premier League ended in a whimper but the £90m parachute payments now due will give them some solace.
With the Clarets relegated from the top flight of English football, they will be in line for a substantial windfall across a three-year period that will help soften the blow on the balance sheet. Whilst this will be the last thing on fans minds as they held hope of survival to retain their status in the Premier League, it has become an important safety net for many who drop down the ladder.

This is for the SPFL only, it includes Prize and TV money, that the League distributes to its members.
The figures are an estimation based on the TV deal and other commercial deals. The last two seasons this model was within 1-2% of the real figures.

Largely enjoying the Euros , although some games are a bit of a stalemate.
Speed and strength of the teams well ahead of Scotland… and better coached. Countless times big Tone had the ball with absolutely no forward or sideways options. Slovenia and Slovakia getting men around the man in possession and with the skill and strength to take a ball in and lay off …. and break out from midfield….
For me , Celtic need that capability more ball to feet in midfield and lay off to a runner , rather than lots of circulating the ball tiring out the opposition looking for an opening.
Difficult to pick a Euro winner , but for me it will be the winner of Germany v Spain … the English have clearly entered into a Faustian pact with the devil and are doomed to eternal damnation.
HH
USA out of the Copa so CCV will be back soon – probably after a holiday – wimp
Billy Stark – 25 goals in 62 games for us during 1978-1989 seasons plus goodness knows how many assists. It is quite unusual for us to sign a player over 30 but Billy ranks well up there with Lubo and Pat Stanton.
Today was the funeral of Billy Abercromby with whom I played for a season at Our Lady of the Assumption Ruchill boys guild. He was the outstanding player (over 50 goals if I remember correctly) and was clearly destined for professional football although he dropped back to midfield. Often he was in trouble for not coming to training if there was a Celtic game on the Wednesday night and was dropped a couple of times but he was always quickly back in the team.
12 years with St. Mirren including a Scottish Cup win as captain, a few forays into Europe an inducted into their hall of fame but soon succumbed to alcoholism.
Just so sad that he and Frank McDougall, with whom I also played albeit it very briefly, have gone on their mid-sixties.
p.s. – I did get two nominations for player of the year at OLoA so i wasn’t a passenger all the time.
That prize money is a joke.
When I log on to Goole,I always get a double strip of trending news, not sure if everyone the same.Every day,4 or 5 scum stories on it,usually from,Ibrox News,or Ibrox noise.Unbearable.Todays headline they are after an Arsenal player, who is now free after rejecting a great offer.Arteta, was desperate to keep him,and every other player thought he was amazing.Walters, his name.”He could soon be on his way”. Aye right.
Best bit,” He could turn out as another fantastic signing, like Dijon Sterling. That Sterling that was on loan at Stoke, who got shot of him.
Everything is delusion.Everything is rosy in their wee world.Luv it.
Spain’s 2 wingers are electrifying.Combined age,37.
As CCV didn’t play the last game then 1 week holiday should be enough
EKBHOY
Speed and strength of the teams well ahead of Scotland… and better coached

The thing that annoyed me watching the Scotland team was their first touch… therecwas a total lack of control of the ball which constantly put us under pressure
Rumours, stories and news reflect where you get the information from.
I mainly use social media. Twittering, Facing book, Instagram and Tiking Toking.
Where do you all get Celtic news and general info from ?
HH.
I love holidays.
scullybhoy
Thanks for posting that. Not for the numbers though they are poor indeed.
Thing is we are stuck with the same deal until 2029, thanks to Neil Doncaster.
Actually not quite the same deal, since the SPL have since sold another 20 games a season on to the renewed deal, so more hindrance for the supporters who actually go to the games. And more Sunday football which I hate.
I said the other day that Celtic FC could generated the same revenue with one CL match at home, as our TV money for a whole season, I think I am pretty much on the money there.
Wait a minute
While Burnley78 is twistin by the pool over in Tuscany….A high bar
BBRB is down in er Blackpool……any bar
