Who stole Jason?

931

Delighted for Wales last night but what’s happened to Jason Denayer? Since ending his loan period at Celtic a year ago he’s made 15 starts for Galatasaray. He was hooked on four of those occasions, which is a high percentage substituted for a defender. Gala won their first four league games with Jason in the team but won only once in his final 10 appearances. The point was made to me last night that he looked overweight.

In his 12 months at Celtic he polished his rough edges and established himself as a top performer in the most effective defence we’ve had in years. Manchester City were not prepared to let him return to Celtic as the reckoned he simply wasn’t being stretched.

He signed a new contract at Man City before heading for Turkey, but their new management team are unlikely to promote him to their first team squad. He’s unlikely to have impressed anyone at the Euros and Galatasaray won’t be as keen as Celtic were to have him back.

Is it possible we’re the only ones who know what he’s capable of? I’d have him back tomorrow.

BSR…modern pundits are rubbish…full of fatigueness and changing the angle of the ball…

  2. Griezmann is a wonderful player.

    Constantly finding and creating space.

His movement is forcing the Icelandic defense to constantly shift and lose shape.

Hopefully the French take their feet of the gas now. Iceland have done their job.

  7. Vintage football from France. England should be thanking Iceland for beating them and sparing them a REAL humiliation.

She told me that we would win 5-0 today, the bold TET didny put a wager on it, a few mins ago she asked the score, she reckons that this game is the 5-0, I despair somtimes :-)

  10. The third Giroud knocks down to Griezmann who sets up Payet.

Payet dummies ball for Griezmann to run clear and score great 4 th.

Payet and Griezmann both showing intelligence and skill.

When even the best organised defences are exposed to such intelligence and movement they struggle to retain shape.

Many years ago, can’t remember when but it was some time ago, Richard Gof left the huns and went to the USA I think, anyways, she told me that he would lift the league trophy for the huns that year, I laughed obviously, I have paid attention to her ever since, she gets more right than wrong and she knows feck all, prob as much as I do if the truth be told.

France showing how quick accurate passing allied to good movement can open the tightest of defences. Hopefully how Brendan is going to have us playing in the SPL.

Celtic played very well in the first half.

Second half was disjointed but some positives.

Janko,Christie,Allan and Henderson all played well as did the young central defensive pairing of McCart and O’Connell.

Allan set up Christie for a tap in.

In the second Ajer and Erik looked assured,Ralston is a tank and Armstrong had some nice moments.

Brown played for final half hour.
