Who we are and our values

1097

For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.

The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage.  No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.

There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.

The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.

I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions.  The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.

As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved.  You’ll find the survey here.

If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr

Thanks.

Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.

It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way.  Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.

Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

  1. Bhoys, got a golf weekend this Saturday/Sunday up in Aviemore. There’s 10 of us and it coincides with one of the bhoys 50th birthdays has anyone got any fun pranks/games that we could make the weekend a bit more lively?? Thanks in advance HH

  2. OK survey completed…

Thought some questions were oddly worded…

The family Irish link for example. Since all my great grandparents were Irish should I have in fact answered yes?

On the GB why add the word ‘scrupulously’. Might I have answered differently if that word had been omitted?

  3. I notice that the survey questionnaire asks whether the respondent is male or female.

    Isn’t that discriminatory?

Surely there should be an option of ‘other’?

I’m thinking of course of S.1(4)(f) of the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012 and its reference to transgender identity.

    Has Patrick Harvie been alerted?

“one of the posters who launched the personal attack on An Tearman is a wall to wall CQN poster”

But the original complainant may not have been. Therefore the clarification was necessary.

I do actually need a wall built. You should have more free time to consider the project after this Thursday. When can I expect you to bring your (free) masonry skills round?

Friesdorfer.Substitute R.B.S. for any bank or building society you prefer but it brings the same lack of security if there is a YES vote. How much will it cost to set up and run a Scottish defence force ? We also need to fund the NHS,pensions, the fire service etc etc.Now if I could sit down and see how much it all costs and how we will fund it all it might make sense. However, that information is not easily available and the YES side just keep telling us how good it will be so my head rules my heart and its a NO from me.H.H.

It will cost a darned sight less to set up a Scottish Defence Force than to maintain Trident (acknowledging that I believe that won’t happen very soon – but the funding mechanism will change).

Funding for the NHS, Police and Fire Services, as well as Pensions, has been answered already – it will come from general taxation.

  6. What follows come from a logical approach to development projects involving millions of £s which is not unlike what we are being asked to invest in.

This fairer society that Independence will bring, what will be the visible indicators that it has been achieved and when should they start to show themselves?

Is independence the best way to produce what is a very desirable objective?

The fairer society I want is one where folk can make the best of their God given talents to bring out the best in themselves and their neighbour. That creates wealth, the tax on which funds the needs of neighbours that for one reason or another cannot use their gifts.

So far this quest for a fairer society appears to be doing the opposite.

Keep our eye on the goal and do not get fixated on the path.

In an Indy Scotland would the SDF (Scottish defence force) still retain their current regimental names and battle honours? Or would an Indy goverment do as the Irish did and cast off the shame of imperial involvment and consigne both the Regimental names & battle honours of British army regiments to rot hanging in St Particks Protestant catherdral in Dublin.

That would seem to me to be a perfectly good idea – St Giles Cathedral Edinburgh?

But the nats insist it will happen.

Hi all sorry for this shameful repost from yesterday but it may provide a bit of relief from the vote issue

Hopefully some of our more knowledgable financial types could give this layman an understandable response

Yesterday one of my sons asked me a question regarding the tribute acts latest fleece ra peepul share issue scam

Son, dad why would anybody throw money into that lot after the last 22 mill scam two lots of season book monies and that the £3 mill raised on Friday will only last til Xmas therefore needing another injection to see the season out and if they go into admin again won’t these investors have lost their investment anyway ?

DAD ( now on shaky ground ) coz think of that phrase fools and their money

Son come on dad that’s the type of answer a Hun would give, these guys ain’t that stupid they are all wealthy types what’s their end game

DAD ( now on even shakier ground ) son it’s all to do with the clumpany and the tribute club and ownership of the assets ground, training ground, car parkbut I’ll ask some learned financial types

So I ask anybody who can help me out coz other than the above I too am astounded of the forehead on what’s going on over there but like others have stated I firmly believe they and the horde will be back next season come what may

Nice to see us getting a win yesterday and the bedding in process beginning and the captains return

Interesting that it was an ex Alliance leader, John Cushnahan, who spoke without platitudes about the harm he had done.

I don’t belong to the ‘May he rot in hell’ side. It would have been nice had he formally apologised for all the hurt he had caused.

The main tragedy was that during his most antagonistic phase, so many people supported him.

  12. Whether Tonev is guilty or not, you can bet your bottom dollar this will be dragged on and on and on by the meeja

I’ve said before, they are just WAITING for any kind of slip up, or anything to allow them to broadcast anti Celtic crap.

Given the, seeming, predominance of questions relating to Ireland and Irish heritage shouldn’t Provisional Sinn Fein, SDLP and the Free state parties been included as political options? Not sure if NI unionist parties should be included but we are a broad church after all. Just an opinion mind

Did you see the report quoting official projections that show HS2 will remove £316M per year from the economies of Aberdeen and Dundee? £160M going to Crossrail, how does that benefit anywhere other than the SE? We’re told these projects in the South will bring nationwide benefits. They aren’t

In all cases ,my usage was intended to be ironical .

An Edinburgh based pal sent me a photo of some graffiti on a Rose Street boozer s lavy door ————” If you hate those English basturts Vote YES ! . Pal opined that he thought the spelling was indicative of intended irony .

A London based pal sent me a photo of some graffiti on a Lisson Grove boozer s lavvy door.———” Reduce unemployment now- send those Jock ***** home ” . Hard to tell if that was intended to be ironical.

I got showered, shaved, changed after a hard days golf :-) and toddled into town to watch in the pub. On the spur of the moment I changed my mind and decided to watch it at home. Got some beer, some carry out food and had just (as you did) popped the first tinny and the fight was finished.
