Who we are and our values

1097

For some months now, a CQN’er and academic has prepared a project to identify who we, the Celtic support, are in 2014, what our views are, where we come from and how closely our objectives align with the Club.

The project takes the form of a questionnaire, which asks some personal questions, like your political leanings, intentions for the Referendum, faith, education and ethnic heritage.  No sign-up is involved and no identifying information is available.

There are also questions on the Offensive Behaviour Act, as well as the Club’s response to Resolution 12, The Green Brigade and the Living Wage.

The objective is to determine why you support Celtic and whether these reasons are being recognised and served.

I know Celtic have held similar surveys in the past but I’m not aware of a recent academic survey into these questions.  The survey will close on Friday 26th September and results will be reported thereafter.

As with all surveys, the more people who participate the more reflective the results will be, so please 10 minutes to get involved.  You’ll find the survey here.

If you have any questions for the author in relation to the survey please email cqn.survey@orange.fr

Thanks.

Pertaining to the above are allegations made about Aleks Tonev over the weekend.

It’s difficult to see where this one goes if the player says “I didn’t say that” without corroboration either way.  Despite this, the allegation is damaging to Celtic, and to the player, so an internal and public reaction is needed to reiterate the values of the club.

Celtic’s induction process should be clear what is and is not acceptable.

Agreed. ‘There are currently’ being the very important words. Underr this governments administration. But faced with budget cuts, further austerituy measures already signed off by Tory and Labour to tune of £25 billion UK wide, Barnett formula amendments that are soon going to be requested by WM English MP’s (it’s all over the News you know). Only Independence can guarantee us an elected party who will promise within the bounds a manifesto no cuts to our NHS without budgetary pressures to make cuts elsewhere. there is a whole bigger picture impacting NHS Scotland here than just NHS Scotland busget which has been protected so far while other services have suffered to protect it under UK austerity and reducing budgetary constraints.

We keep our full tax raising powers and distribute ourselves without having a % strip to finance WM bad policy and bad financial regulation and increasing debt into the trillions. Or we send down everything and hope we get back a fair share.

can you do me a wee favour. When you next get paid. can you send me it all up and I’ll sned you it directly back down to you with a wee handling fee reduction.

For the record the £400-450m funding gap story. It doesn’t actually state that cuts are in place.

It’s states that there’s a funding gap of that amount for 2015-17 and that cuts will have to be made, unless the funding is found from somewhere.

The cuts may well be made, I wouldn’t deny that for a second but they’re not agreed yet and that should be remembered when considering this.

It would be great if increases in Health and Education budget down South brought the block grant back up to at least 0% cuts in real terms. I don’t think it will and certainly won’t bring it back up to being in line with inflation.

    ——————————————————————————

Perhaps. But if cuts are made to the NHS in Scotland then that’s a decision that’s been taken by the Scottish Government – they have other options. As I say – in this debate there’s lots of information being presented as “facts” when they are clearly open to interpretation. There will be cuts come what may – whether we go indenpendent or not. In the event of indepenence the IFS estimated that Scotland would face a budget deficit of 5.5% of GDP – £8.6bn that can only be met by either increased tax or reduced spending. The White Paper already states they will cut Corporation Tax by 3%, so I guess the burden will fall on Joe Public as usual.

After I deduct the cost of my hedonistic lifestyle there is little left.

    Fortunately my income covers that.

I’m not sure that will be the case for an independent Scotland.

    AT THIS TIME.

I’ve always said that it is not about the question or the concept of independence, merely about the timing.

It is not the right time to go it alone,IMO.

But I respect your alternative opinion and the drive you have used to push it. Also the research which you have done.

a bit of a conundrum on that one though, because it does fit for Rangers players.

  14. I had a quick look and noticed several posts dismissing the ability and value of Kris Commons to the Celtic team.

Now, my biggest annoyance on CQN is how quickly posters are to name call based on difference of opinion.

However, I’m astounded at some of the comments I’ve seen.

Apparently Commons has a poor first touch.

Let me say that any player who scores 30+ goals in a season and has several assists does not have a poor first touch.

If you actually think that then you know very, very little about football.

Does he occasionally give the ball away?

Yes but that doesn’t equate to a poor first touch.

Was it a poor first touch that set him up for his shot that clipped the bar on Saturday?

    Eh, naw.

Commons continues to be our most creative, influential player yet some on here want him punted.

    Dearie, dearie me I despair.

Can you provide to me a simple explanation why Andy Burnham, shadow Secretary of State for Health, has stated publically that NHS England is going down the road to privatisation and joined the Jarow protest against privatisation only 3 weeks ago when we are being lead to believe by his colleagues in the Labour Better together Vow of promises campaign that there is no such thing happening?

Is Andy Burnham, Labours shadow secretary of state for HEALTH wrong or misrepresenting what is happening in the English NHS?

Or are the Labour Better Together Vow of promises partnership campaigners misrepresenting what is happening in the English NHS?

Can you provide me with a simple explanation official figures from Audit Scotland show that, since Salmond became first minister in 2007, NHS spending in Scotland on private sector providers – to treat patients who have waited too long for an operation or to provide locum nurses – rose by 37% to a total of £80.26m, and by 23% between 2011-12 and 2012-13 alone?
