Who will rid me of this turbulent priest

172

In 1170, exasperated at St Thomas Becket, then Archbishop of Canterbury, Henry II shouted, “Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?”  Four knights heard the king and took it as an instruction to kill Becket, leaving Henry with plausible deniability.

When the terrible deed was done, Henry claimed to be outraged and sought penance for his words, but endured no earthly justice.  No one would dare cross him again.

After 842 years this might be the oldest trick in the book.

  1. That Hateley article is truly unbelieveable. I am amazed that even a rag like the Record saw fit to publish it.

congratulations on well and truly setting the agenda for Scottish football. The hack heavy weights are following you now as well as decent well established journalist like Alex Thomson.

    Very well done !!

    Hail Hail

  3. HATEly……

I’m astonished the SFA get other people in to make their decisions.

    I’m absolutely stunned by that.

  4. Not posted here in a while but found this gem on Rangers Media and had to share it. Senior managers at William Hill must be quaking in their boots at the fear of a backlash from ra peepel!

    “Good Evening

With regards to the lates undertaking by the SFA to punish Rangers FC in such a draconian manner.

I wish to inform William Hill, a proud sponsor of the Scottish Football association, that I will not be using my online account and any william hill outlets while it is still a sponsor of the SFA or the SFA over turn there blatant attack on my football club.

I will also like to inform you that until such time I will you be using your rival Ladbrokes to place all future bets

    Best wishes ”

That’s just the beginning as well, it gets better with copy cat emails, lots of applause, and then a bit of infighting from the hoards. Delightful reading.

Home kit a bit of a disappointment at first glance, looks like a cheap t-shirt. A white collar would have done the trick and a Celtic cross.

  6. When we have weeks like this it is plain to see that the 12 or so miles of ocean that separates Scotland from the North of Ireland really is nothing at all. The bombs that were sent from North Ayrshire to Lennoxtown travelled twice that distance. This country has dis-associated itself from it’s problems for too long. We cannot expect the death of the main social focal point of one group of people’s perceived superiority over another to go without incident. I hope we look back on weeks like this one and those endured by Lennon, McBride, Scott, McFadden and many others with a sense that something good and just came from it all.

  7. Love the new home strip. Best one for a while.

Georgios looking great as well – think he’s had the ole straighteners out this morning.

  9. Blame Craig Whyte for all the clubs problems. What is the plan when the dual contracts verdict is delivered or the big tax case?

Somewhat naive for Sally given some of his comments made previously.

“He’s been great, absolutely smashing. I spoke to him this morning as I always do.”

From this article on the bbc news website titled ‘Rangers boss Ally McCoist praises owner Craig Whyte’.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/15407927

“I’ve got a fantastic, healthy relationship with Craig and have done since he came to the club.

“Like all healthy, working relationships, we don’t agree on everything.

“I believe if we did, it would be unhealthy but we never fall out and we don’t have a problem.”

From a DR article titled ‘Ally McCoist: I’m not quitting Rangers and I get on fine with owner Craig Whyte’

  11. Is Lenny up in front of the suits today ?

And still fat sally can say what he wants, no punishment will be meeted out to him, it has been decreed.

As for that piece by Hately, bitter hurting hun, only pandering to the masses, it’s served it’s purpose, we are talking about it.

The Rangers story has now got to the point in the Borat film where they are fighting each other naked. I who despise them the most am sitting here thousands of miles away and I have a big riddy. I dont know where to look I am so embarrassed for them.

    Great isn´t it ?

ERIC DRYSDALE, Gary Allan and Alistair Murning. Or as I prefer to call them – Moe, Larry and Curly.

What I want to know is, what qualifications do Drysdale, Allan and Murning have to sit on a judicial panel and dish out sanctions?

WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DOES HATELY HAVE TO BE A JOURNALIST/MUPPET

in fact sorry, that would be an affront to muppetry

It is ironic that Alex Thomson is covering a war crime court hearing. Do these not usually start with the former dictator not recognising the court.

Sounds like McCoist, Hatey and the Daily Record.

  15. Hately (i.e. some Record hack): Rangers “finds itself engulfed in a financial crisis”.

This sums it up. They didn’t bring this upon themselves, it is some malign natural disaster that has struck. The rest of Scottish football and Scottish society should be helping them!

  16. The Peepil eh?

Stil manage to astound you on a daily basis. A lot more to come too as their self righteousness knows no bounds. As enjoyable as it is watchin them implode they sicken you, roll on the last breath!

Q Has anyone over the last few weeks spoken to an embarrased hun with a bit of humility regarding their antics, cheating etc.

    Nah? Me neither

  17. Seen the rangers kit launch.

I take it they are going to get round the transfer embargo by getting Sandy Jardine to pull the boots on once again… :0)
