When we have weeks like this it is plain to see that the 12 or so miles of ocean that separates Scotland from the North of Ireland really is nothing at all. The bombs that were sent from North Ayrshire to Lennoxtown travelled twice that distance. This country has dis-associated itself from it’s problems for too long. We cannot expect the death of the main social focal point of one group of people’s perceived superiority over another to go without incident. I hope we look back on weeks like this one and those endured by Lennon, McBride, Scott, McFadden and many others with a sense that something good and just came from it all.
