WHO’S A CHEEKY BHOY, ODSONNE?

CELTIC striker Odsonne Edouard claimed his ELEVENTH goal for the France Under-21 side in Switzerland last night.

The on-fire 21-year-old attacker cheekily lobbed in a penalty-kick to give his nation the lead in the European qualifier. He nonchalantly chipped his effort straight down the middle of the goal as the keeper took off for a corner.

It was striker No.11 for Edouard in six outings for the French team – only two short of his total for the eight-in-a-row champions this season.

He was also put on the spot for his country’s youngsters against Georgia on Friday night where he fired in a stoppage-time effort in the 3-2 victory.

It’s been an astonishing rise to fame and acclaim for the Hoops ace, the club’s record buy at £9million from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, who only made his debut at this level in September when he hit a double against Albania before adding two more doubles against Czech Republic and Azerbaijan while hitting a hat-trick against Slovakia last month.

Alas, there was no happy ending to the Edouard progress report. The Swiss came back to claim three points with two quickfire goals just before the interval from Jeremy Guillehemot and Andi Zeqiri. The latter scored again just before the hour mark to kill off the game as a contest.

The elegant marksman will be back in his usual place for Neil Lennon’s side when Celtic take on Livingston in the Premiership at Parkhead on Saturday.
