What’s the difference between Celtic signing Lewis Morgan now, then loaning him back to St Mirren, or simply signing him on a pre-contract agreement to join the club on 1 June? Primarily, it is about the player’s training regime.
Celtic are paying St Mirren for the privilege of telling them how Lewis should train, what dietary rules he should follow and what developmental objectives to prioritise. He will train, rest, eat and sleep according to guidelines Celtic set out.
The cumulative effect of sports science is difficult to quantify, but it forms the basis of much of what the technical staff do at Lennoxtown.
NEW! The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant
A Celtic State of Mind presents its 29th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.
Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.
Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.
Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

Hi Paul67,
Thought young Morgan came across very well in his interview.
Must admit, when he’s was talking I thought, what input are Celtic going to have over the next 5 months?
Good to see he’ll be greeted as a Celtic player, it’s important.
In the meantime good luck to him and St Mitten.
Hail Hail
Good afternoon nap posted.
Post for BMCUWP. Can’t find phone!
BAMBOO @ 12:12 PM,
Ah! I wondered if we ever sang it… was that the original?
I seen Jinky a few times but in the seventies.
The one I remember it being sang about was Man U’s Willie Morgan, when playing for Scotland. A fine player but no Jimmy Johnstone;)
Hail Hail
Meanwhile, Jabba surfing the net , looking for dodgy x-ray pics to rubbish Murphy….

Hello again all you young rebels.
Well it is a new blog, here’s a wee story, sitting with the Celtic Academy
ghuy today discussing the upcoming Easter schedule plenty of new bhoys
and ghirls registering for the upcoming season and all these big posters
of Tom Rogic lying out on the tables with the Easter Celtic Academy dates
etc. on them which will be placed in all the shopping centres, kids fun
parks and anywhere else me and the young dudes can think off.
Anyway a young Indonesian parent and his son come in to talk about his
registration when the boy spots the posters and says to his dad ” thats the
Australian player Tom Rogic he’s a great player ”
He’s wearing a Barcelona top and says ” thats a great strip dad can i get that ?
” o.k son ”
Another one signed up for the academy
Aren’t dads great?

HI Everyone…. who do this Brighton mob think they are.? Don’t they realise they are dealing with wearethepeople 2012 fc … how dare they stand in the way of the most excellent Murphy’s lifetime dream and demand money for him
Thank goodness our club are ran by professionals, our transfer dealings are done behind closed doors where ourselves, the other team and the player involved are all happy not only with the outcome but how we conduct ourselves. Contrast that with the shambles that is Sevco…. transfer dealings held in the media, derogatory offers made and then blame the other team and leave them with an unhappy unsettled player (or manager) when they don’t get their way… and don’t forget the concommitant statement when it all goes tits up
I like the policy of signing youth developing and selling. It’s good for Celtic
But I would like a bit of backbone to come in – in Jan. example
McCarthy Everton
McLean West Brom
These two are probably a poor example as we need a Centre Half and a Right Back
And no doubt other posters have a view
Kids are great (and I know what Hanson said!) but a couple of real solid experienced pros would be welcome

*correct, they were a teuchter family that had moved south in search of work, according to Mrs TT his brother, the goalies da, used tae play the pipes tae bring in the new year at the bells.
He was known in the traditional Gaelic manner as John Archie, this is common in the Maritimes over here with the ancestors of the Highland Clearances.
My da used tae rave about him especially when he moved tae Dumbarton for a short spell. I believe that Ferenc Puskas also raved about him as he tortured the Magyars defense while playing for Scotland.
Although born in Dennistoun on retirement he moved back tae Tiree and only passed away last year. His nephews wife posted pictures online on FB of them visiting him which is when I knew that was his uncle, over 50 year after I met him !!!!
When I was a youngster I worked with a stonemason who was an avid Thistle supporter, his name was Roddie Mackenzie, only found out recently that he was a family member tae.
St Mirren would be due a development fee anyway if we signed him on a free. The £300k secures him now. Nothing more.
Charlie Nick …just sitting there thinking obviously…refers to “my team Arsenal”….p#ick.
Paul Cook, Wigan manager, talking about their trip to Bournemouth and some of the things wrong with the modern game particularly supporters demanding instant gratification. Plenty of sense spoken, will never catch on.

*Agreed Mick but wille ormond didnae think that or wisnae allowed tae when he was preferred against Yugoslavia against the full back that Jinky had tortured in the 5-1 Red Star game . BTW I believe that manure supporters sung it first.

MELBOURNE MICK @ 1:52 PM,
Yeah! I find that with a lot of Football songs, we create so many songs and chants that are adopted by other supporters.
By the time it goes “mainstream” we have moved on. I didn’t get to Celtic Park til ’73…
When you think that Willie Morgan kept Jinky out of the Scotland Team… Tragic
Love you posts from down under BTW… Ooze Celtic Spirit…

A question. What was the net spend in the transfer market during fergus mccann’s five years as chairman?

Benyu moves to Oldham on loan
By: Newsroom Staff on 06 Jan, 2018 14:00
CELTIC can confirm that young midfielder Kundai Benyu has joined League One side Oldham Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old joined the Hoops last summer from Ipswich Town and he has made four appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side, which included two outings in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
He will now head to the Latics for the remainder of the campaign as he continues his football development.
Everyone at Celtic wishes Kundai every success for his time with Richie Wellens’ side.
Melbourne Michael
I got that – but I had to reread it to get there.
Nice story & thanks for sharing.

You’ve snared me now, i think that was your intention lol, we all
know why that happened, as regards who sang what first , it will
always be debatable, but no one will ever convince me that we
were not the first to sing YNWA, although it was close i’m convinced
after the first showing of the musical Carousel? the jungle sang it
spontaneously the following night at a Celtic midweek game, no
one will convince me otherwise.

Re Jamie Murphy, I reckon Brighton gave Sevco permission to speak to the player on basis of very favourable terms. In the meantime I reckon somebody in the know has tipped Brighton off with regards to the state of the Sevco finances and the real possibility that they might not receive all of the later instalments.
Or Sevco have tried to be fly and offered X but went back to Brighton after speaking to the player and said will you accept Y instead.
Something very sinister is going on either way.
The delay in Murphy signing for Sevco backs Phil’s report that TRFC/RIFC is once again a house divided. Matthew 12 22 to 28.
Sportsound now discussing delay in appointing a new Scotland manager and SFA being criticised.
At some point the abject failure of the SFA as governors of Scottish football will become main stream.
AULDHEID
I’m so in awe of the work you and the res 12 bhoys have done
regarding the corruption in Scottish football but at the end of
the day it will come down to will of the Scottish football fans if
they want to continue to subsidise this bastardised version of
competition, only time will tell, but i’m not that confident.
H.H Mick
Dont think I will be winning goals galore Celtic and Leicester joker today , nil goals.Glad I dont bet coupons, pathetic.
In response to Gordon Duncan’s question , all of the SSB panelists believe that the Murphy signing will go through .
Lots of egg on lots of faces if it doesn’t happen.
Wee Lewis Morgan the only Sevc in a ten in a row team.
“Scott Brown will sign for Rainjurz”
BFSDOJ
TheTimReaper.
I read a complaint this morning that “Brighton had moved the goalposts”, which does perhaps sound like Brighton have been alerted to Sevco’s finances and suddenly become much less reluctant to accept the bulk of the money at a later date (or when “Rangers qualify for the CL Group stages, ie never).
For a club that needs millions before the end of the season (by its own accounts), to be spending any money at all is highly questionable.

Simunovic to Burnley
