Why Morgan was bought now instead of on a pre-contract

613

What’s the difference between Celtic signing Lewis Morgan now, then loaning him back to St Mirren, or simply signing him on a pre-contract agreement to join the club on 1 June? Primarily, it is about the player’s training regime.

Celtic are paying St Mirren for the privilege of telling them how Lewis should train, what dietary rules he should follow and what developmental objectives to prioritise. He will train, rest, eat and sleep according to guidelines Celtic set out.

The cumulative effect of sports science is difficult to quantify, but it forms the basis of much of what the technical staff do at Lennoxtown.

NEW! The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 29th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

  2. Slept like a baby, the night and the morning,of the Big January Wind , which caused a lot of lives ,and demolished a lot of Tenements, etc,I was early shift that morning, started at 6 am,with the Gas Board,I didn’t see the extent of the damage it has caused, till I turned round Nuneaton St onto Dalmarnock Rd,you would have thought a bomb had exploded, shop windows panned in, chimneys, all over the road, shoes , papers,Glass, etc all caused by that Wind,as the day wore on the wind eased a bit,but there was still Chimneys, getting blown off the Roofs all over Glasgow, got a call to go to Elliott Street I think it was in the Anderson or Patrick area of the city, reports of a chimney going through the roofs of the building, causing a lot damage,we had to ,for safety reasons, cut off the Gas Supply,in the Tenement,a young lad lost his live that dreadful day,I have never forgot that day.

  4. Re the earlier posts about the pace not being used.Yes I am happy that the winning run is so potent, but being a bit more picky,I like to see our defenders ,defending,Our full backs flying forward at every opportunity, and defending when needed.Something like KT used to do.

What I dont want is for our back 4 to have 50% of the ball,in our own half.I defy anyone to tell me that most of the football we play, has them on the edge of their seatsLets hope that Ajer is going to break this mould.I have no idea why Kouassi is not played alongside Broony to give us a lot more options of playing the ball out from the back.Too predictable.Panic, and try to find Broony. We have too much talent for this.Too much firepower not getting the supply.

  8. Celtic will never pursue justice because it has a cost. Anyone else who tries such as fans using their own money ( us Celtic supporters are great at collecting money) they will sabotage. There’s coffers to fill (not yours) and bigot bucks to be made.

It was Neilly Mochan who had to come on to the park and order the Celtic to take the kick-off. I’m still not sure that we should have.

‘The Quiff’ is going nowhere except onto the Celtic team sheet first pick forget the dafties that think ‘he wants away’ because he only signed for a year, form is temporary and all that.
