Why Morgan was bought now instead of on a pre-contract

613

What’s the difference between Celtic signing Lewis Morgan now, then loaning him back to St Mirren, or simply signing him on a pre-contract agreement to join the club on 1 June? Primarily, it is about the player’s training regime.

Celtic are paying St Mirren for the privilege of telling them how Lewis should train, what dietary rules he should follow and what developmental objectives to prioritise. He will train, rest, eat and sleep according to guidelines Celtic set out.

The cumulative effect of sports science is difficult to quantify, but it forms the basis of much of what the technical staff do at Lennoxtown.

NEW! The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 29th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

Fairhill Bhoy, sorry I never replied earlier . I was out getting my daughter then chauferring her pals home.

The Blubells and the Fruits were two good bands from Hamilton. I qualify the Bluebells as being from Hamilton as the McLuskey brothers went to Holy Cross.

Gutenberg , that must have been a broken heart Sharon’s former long term boyfriend took a while to deal with .

From earlier. Wouldn’t pre-judge the transfer activity yet but you hit the spot with your other comments.

We ridicule the Huns for their propaganda press yet we ignore major issues like cheating, ftSFA etc.

I know KevJ goes on a bit but he might be right in that to get the club to react to those issues we might be forced to take radical action.

  11. Dallas

Havent been in contact with him for almost 30 years but do know he has hit the bottle big time. Not saying the two are connected though.

Fairhill Bhoy, Hipsway another fine band. The Broken Years is a great song. Current Texas and ex Altered Images bassist, Johnny McElhone was Hipsway’s bassist when they started.

When I was at Clydebank College in 1981, a guy I knew was on the same course as Hipsway lead singer , Skin. I would bump into him and Skin occasionally . Skin came over as a good guy and Celtic fan.

Gutenberg, I’m sorry to hear that about your old shool mate. I hope he is on top of things now.

  15. How is it that,…….

When, RD, PL’s, Confidentiality Claused Managerial Puppet

was bringing in, loanees, trialists, projects, etc,…..

it was seen as a sign of the club’s downsizing policy.

And yet, when all of the the above is being done, under

the guise of, loanees, trialists, projects, etc,…..

going the other way, its projected as, the growth

of the playing squad, etc, blah, blah, etc….

all because its being done under the watch of

Brendan, the PLC, £45 k a week fudge, who is

being utilised, to fudge the fact that, the PL

    trialists, loanees, projects recruitment policy

will drain the managers recruitment budget

for years to come, a policy of player recruitment

that contributed to the chasing of, 30,000

Celtic supporters out of their seats, because

despite winning a one horse race, the quality

of the product on the pitch was pish, leading

to defeat to the huns in the SCSF 2015, which

proved to be a blessing in disguise, but also

exposed the fact that, Desmond didn’t know

how pish a team Celtic really were, which begs

the question, why didn’t he know ?

Never mind awe the smokescreen merchants

and their, DD was offended by Rainjurs directors

that’s why he brought in Brendan, that is the pishest

story, ever told. Apathy emptied, 30,000 seats, that’s

why Brendan is here. Empty seats, and only empty seats,

will make Celtic PLC, move their erses. That’s why, the PLC

can get away wi, being silent on hun cheating issues

trophy stripping, same club, resolution : 12 issues, etc….

cause, Brendan the PLC’s £45 k a week fudge, is in house.

The Brendan fudge was shown in its mightiest effect when

Celtic supporters paid, £49 for, Old Firm Same Club Lie tickets.

These same Celtic supporters, crowd funded “statements” into

hun newspapers, claiming that, Sevco / Rainjurs are different clubs.

And, there it was, the Brendan PLC same club fudge, at its greatest

effect, supporters who sing their hearts out about, how rebellious

they are, selling their souls for £49.

Ah mean, 25 years ae Murray Mibbery

    wiped oot,…….for £49.

How good does the jelly n ice

    cream taste noo ?

    Anywye,…….

Ah mean, whit happened tae signing players

and, putting them in the team, on the pitch

having a direct effect on the team ?

Ah mean, who believes that Ryan Christie

will ever play for Celtic ?

Whit, is it all aboot ?

How close is DD tae the Kremlin ?

    Aye,…….

    …….oot.

  16. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Fairhill Bhoy, I worked with someone from Hamilton who was in the same year as Davie McLuskey and I wrongly assumed he and Kenny were from Hamilton.

Holy Cross had produced some real talent , sporting and musically , over the years with Paul McStay its most famous former pupil.

Good night all and sleep well .

  17. In January 2013,Philippe Coutinho was sold by Inter Milan to Liverpool for 8.5M pounds.

Liverpool sold him to Barcelona today for 142M pounds.

Will Inter Milan be unhappy today?

    Or

Did they do a Celtic and have a sell-on clause?
